Perfect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Dell Laptop does not have a Ethernet input, so I purchased this adapter which converts the Ethernet plug to a USB 3.0 so that I can wire connect my laptop do the internet instead of using its wireless connection to get faster internet speed.

Better than any other
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This usb to ethernet adapter works great, and doesn't break down like the cheaper ones do. I'd say this was a great purchase, especially for anyone with a macbook without an ethernet port. If only it was more compact, then it would be easier to carry around, but that's just a preference.

Does the job, but cheap quality.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This works great with my MacBook Pro. However the quality of the product seems poor.

Easy to use and setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked flawlessly and easy to setup. It worked at the gigabit speeds or at least connected as such. You have to use the install CD at least for Windows 7 but that is to be expected.

Nowhere to download drivers!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having no CD Rom drive, I was unable to upload the drivers from the software that came in the box. There's a link on the product page on the Insignia site where you can supposedly download the drivers, but that download contains nothing to install the drivers, only to uninstall. After fighting traffic and standing in line at Best Buy in the hot FL sun to get this, I am very, very disappointed. According to Insignia website, it takes 2 days to get a support ticket answered. Not a happy camper at all!

WILL CRASH YOUR MAC!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.MAC BUYERS BEWARE! The required driver for this adapter (which is included on a CD in the box) will crash Macs with a kernel panic. This is a KNOWN problem -- google "mac panic realtek driver" for more information (Insignia supplies a realtek driver on their installation disc). It happened to me two hours after installing the adapter. I removed the adapter, but the driver is still installed on my computer. An uninstaller is NOT included on the installation CD. I contacted Insignia tech support Insignia Tech Support for instructions on how to uninstall the driver and after requesting TONS of information on the problem, they were beyond useless. They simply instructed me to contact Apple support for instructions on how to remove the driver, and washed their hands of it! This is not an Apple problem -- it's an Insignia problem which THEY ARE AWARE OF -- and they can't provide you with a method to remove their corrupt driver from your Mac. UNACCEPTABLE!

Do not install on a mac, unless you hate internet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would give this -10 stars if I could. I would call it garbage if I could, but at least the only problem with garbage is it doesn't work. After installing the drivers for this, not only will it not work, it will also bork up your wi-fi and render it useless. The only way to fix it is a complete re-install or figure out a script to remove the files that were installed. Just stay away from this thing if you are on a mac. Did not test on Windows.

Works great, good price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Adapter works great, got it on sale for a good price. Only 4 stars because it arrived a day later than promised & I don't like Best Buy's strict 15 day return policy (on everything in store) so not a fan of Best Buy in general.

DO NOT PURCHASE WITHOUT RESEARCH
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is no support on this past windows 8 nor MacOS 10. I installed the software on High Sierra and it literally removed the hardware for my wifi adapter and it did the same thing on windows 10. If you chance it, make sure you set a restore point and back up your computer because this will give you hours of troubleshooting and restoring. Spend the little extra and get a quality adapter that has been supported past 2014! I'm going to return and get an apple branded so I can just skip the headaches.

The Driver is a CD and it's 2020
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just picked this up and got home to find out it wasn't compatible with my Macbook. The driver is a CD and my laptop doesn't have a disc drive I called support and they told me it wasn't compatible. Who even puts drivers on a CD anymore? It only works for Windows 7 and 8 and IOS. I feel like if you have a big PC, why would you even need this thing? Boo.

Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Handy to have since most laptops don't have an Ethernet port anymore. Works fine. Would rather it was a different color though (black).

Will crash your mac!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I hope you are smarter than me, this made my mac wifi not work, it also never worked for ethernet. It crashed my mac so bad I had to restore it. Don't let other insignia responses tell you that they have a fix either, you will spend an hour on the phone with them and they will just say..."call apple support please." So stupid of me to buy this without reading reviews. DO NOT BUY IF YOU HAVE A MAC!!!!

Barely works
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I plugged the USB dongle into my ASUS Zenbook and plugged in the Ethernet cable. The speeds fluctuate between barely usable and no connectivity whatsoever. My laptop only recognizes this as a generic Ethernet port and since there are no drivers available for Windows 10, I'm not sure there is anything else that can be done to remedy this. Stay away from this product.
