I have not experienced any of the issues regarding connecting a monitor that other reviewers have experienced like having to turn off my MacBook before inserting the cable or needing to insert a HDMI cable into the adapter first before plugging it in to the usb-c port, etc. I'm connecting mine to an older Acer X223W using a DVI to HDMI cable. The power pass through charging function works fine for me even though I more often will just utilize the 2nd usb-c port to charge the MacBook directly. I tried using this adapter on a Dell Latitude 5179 tablet. The HDMI function does not work and I tried a few different ways to see if it ever would. This tablet does have a micro-HDMI port that works fine. Video out through the usb-c port works fine when connected via the Dell tablet dock. So I'm not sure why it won't work with this adapter. Anyway, the pass through charging works fine for this tablet as well as the regular USB port (I've used thumb drives and a portable LG DVD drive). Just figured I'd toss in this experience. I'm not going to knock off a star for that as I purchased it specifically for use with my 2016 MacBook Pro 13in. And again, for me so far, this has worked flawlessly.
