The Insignia Memory Card Reader is just what I need in this household for all of my devices. The Insignia Memory card reader is compatible with SD, MicroSD, SDHC, Micro-SDHC, SDXC, and Micro-SDXC cards. One end of the card reader has a USB connection and the opposite end has a USB-C connection. When unboxing I was amazed that this card reader with both tip covers on the ends on only measures a little over 3 inches. You will receive the card reader, USB tip cover, USB-C tip cover and a quick set-up guide. Set-up is basically plug and play. I first used the card reader to transfer pictures taken with my Nikon camera. I put the SDHC card in the correct opening and plugged it into my Dell AIO. The card reader read the memory card and transferred my pictures. Next I used the card reader to transfer a design from my computer to my embroidery machine. The design was transferred without any problems. So far, I have used this card reader with a Windows PC, Chromebook, Android tablet, laptop, Android phone, and a 6 needle embroidery machine. Highly recommend.

I have a variety of devices that use SD cards to function. Cameras, 3D printers, laser cutters, and so I frequently use USB adapters to help me transfer data between devices and computers. I appreciate that Insignia's USB adapter has both USB-A and USB-C connectors, as I have devices that primarily use one or the other, and that it supports both SD and MicroSD cards. I also like the fact that it's relatively large while still being compact, which makes it harder to lose (a frequent problem of mine). As it's often being used in a dusty workshop, I also appreciate that both connectors have caps. Not that the device is meant to be dust resistant (the slots for both card types are open), but it does help. This card reader is advertised as UHS-1, which in the world of confusing SD card classification, means up to 100 megabyte per second reads and 10 megabyte per second writes, in ideal conditions. I tested with a UHS-3 V60 card from my camera, and the reader came very close to these numbers, with 90MB/s sequential read and 9.6MB/s sequential write, with random reads and writes being a few MB/s slower. I've had other readers that claim to be UHS-1 that don't achieve half that speed. Overall, this is a nice, well-designed device that does exactly what it says it will. Definitely recommend.

Having recently bought a new laptop, I ran into an issue where all the ports are USB-C while all my old card readers are USB-A. I needed something that could read my micro sd cards and SD cards to transfer both photo and video from my devices to my laptop to view and edit. There is nothing flashy about this device but it does what it is expected to do. Has the ability to plug into both USB-a and c which is nice as I will be able to use it between both my new and old computers. The device is very small and slightly bigger than the size of a portable flash drive which is perfect for those on the go and need to carry equipment. My one concern upon first view was if it would have any issues if I were to sit my laptop on a flat surface as the laptop is very thin. Thankfully, no issues in this aspect and there was a little room for clearance which was good. Transfer speeds on this device is excellent. All my files transferred with no issues off both my micro sd and sd card. The included caps fit nicely and don’t fall off keeping the ports clean so I have no worries there. Overall, this is a great little device for anyone who needs to transfer or view files from their micro sd and sd cards. Small, compact, fast and gets the job done. Highly recommend it.

Handy little USB-C and USB-A 3.2 card reader. It reads both SD and micro SD cards with male USB-C and USB-A connectors on both ends. It’s rated to transfer data at up to 95 MB a second. I didn’t do any official speed tests, but my SanDisk micro SD card was recognized quickly on both my Android phone and Windows PC. Transfer rates seemed quick when copying a bunch of images and video files. It’s a bit limited in terms of types of cards it can read, but SD and micro SD are the most common, as are the USB-A and USB-C connectors. It makes swapping files between my phone and PC a legitimately easy affair. I also love that it’s about the size of a stick of gum, so it’s easy to carry around and be with me when I need it most. The only drawback I’ve found is that the USB-C connector is a little short and won’t fit into my phone without taking off the phone case. Not a big deal, but something to keep in mind if you plan on connecting it to your phone frequently. Overall though, this is a solid little SD/micro SD card reader and is small enough to always carry on you. Good job Insignia!

In a world of ever-increasing storage needs we also suffer from an increase in devices and formats. I have, as a committed tech freak, burdened myself with multiple cameras and very sexy laptops. Sadly, the latter lack card readers. The Insignia Memory Card Reader for SD and microSD cards solved my problem. It's a nifty dual-ended device. About twice the size of today's thumb drives. It features USB-A ("standard") and USB-C connectors (and snug-fitting end caps for dust control) so it's going to work with your laptop, desktop, and just about any phone or tablet with a USB-C connection. Throughput is advertised at 95 MB/second and I found that to be very close to accurate. Of course, that literally, "goes both ways" so performance will vary by device and open apps moving data at the same time. I'd like the design to be somewhat more attractive. It's certainly a form following function situation and it does the job. Maybe some fun colors would be a nice addition to the line, and/or the ability to label the device. Just sayin'.

The Insignia USB A USB C SD/microSD Single Lun Card Reader is a handy and compact little tool if you need to read data on a card or manually move files from a card to a laptop or iPad Pro (this iPad has a USB C port). It is also handy to manually move files from an older laptop with USB A only to something with USB C only (by writing the data on the card). What’s in the Box: • Card Reader Stick • 2 End Caps • Brief Instructions in English and Spanish For many people this card reader stick will have limited use though. All of my current laptops have built-in card readers, though. Plus, the USB C side of the stick won’t reach past the hard case I have on my iPad Pro, meaning I need to remove the hard case every time I want to use the stick with the iPad Pro. That said, if you have a need for a portable external card reader, this one will do the job nicely. You don’t need any cables to connect it. The stick is slim enough that it does not block other ports. At about an inch wide by 3 inches long, it is also very portable.

Easy to use and just the thing for the devices that use the small memory cards. The output is in the 2 more popular USB styles, so it will connect to your older desk top, as well as what's likely on your newer lap top. If you are not sure, just take a picture of where you want to connect, and folks at BB will know if this is for you.

Does the job. Compact and easy to use. I like that it has both a USB and micro USB input. The versatility means I can keep this tucked away for lots of use in the future.

Bought this to use with my DSLR camera, works great and is easy to use. I keep this in my camera bag so it’s always available when needed for transferring photos to my tablet or desktop. I would highly recommend this to anyone using DSLR cameras.

This card reader is better than I had hoped for! Beside letting me read my photos on an ipad, it also lets me read my photos while out in the woods (from my game cameras). I no longer need to carry an ipad but can do everythin from my phone. It plugs into my phone's USB Type C recepticle and I can view, save, or erase my cards without a trip to my computer at home. The best of both worlds.

This item meets my application needs for my laptop and photo equipment. Has worked well so far and it’s portability makes it very convenient to work with. The price was reasonable. I am happy with my purchase.

I got this reader because I have a dash cam with an SD card and the corresponding app has never worked. If I want to save or review any dash cam footage, I have to take the card out and bring it in to my laptop. This reader allows me to save images from the SD card right to my phone with the C connecting port. This is a huge time saver since I can do it right in my car. If I ever witness an accident and want to share the dash cam footage with the police or involved parties, I can do so immediately. I am not the most tech savvy. I tried using the USB end in my laptop but I could not open and view the images/video. Since I have an SD slot on my computer, this isn't necessary but I could not figure out why my laptop did not "recognize" the USB and open the images. If you don't have an SD reader on your computer, I cannot guarantee this will fill that need. If your phone has a C connection and you want to transfer/share images and video from and SD Card to your phone (and share to social media or other people) this works great. I have not tried my Gopro yet but I am sure the SD reader will work the same with that card, allowing me to immediately download images and video to share to social media.
