SD cards are useful for many devices today, and it’s becoming less common to see computers come standard with an SD card slot. The Insignia Memory Card Reader solves this problem. It is the perfect tool to have when on the go. To start, it has both USB A and USB C male connectors, making it compatible with many laptops and desktops. It is extremely small and compact, and comes with end caps to keep the connectors safe. My favorite part of the reader is that it accommodates both normal SD cards and microSD cards. I no longer have to get my SD adapter for microSD cards. I just plug it straight into the device. This makes it much easier for me when transferring files between my computer and 3D printer (which uses a microSD card). Speaking of transfer, moving files between the SD card and my computer is fast. It uses USB 3.2 Gen 1 for quick and convenient reading or writing of files. It’s awesome. Insignia did a fantastic job with this Memory Card Reader. Even if it is a simple device, it has made my workflow so much simpler and convenient.

Insignia‘s Memory Card Reader is a useful device for people that use SD and microSD cards, and one to view contact stored on those cards on your computer. This particular memory card reader has to slots, one for a regular SD card, and another for a microSD card, why would you need this device ? Well, if you use digital devices like GoPro’s, car cameras, photography cameras etc, chances, are those devices use memory cards, if you want to view your constant like videos and pictures on your computer, you’re going to need this device. Simply insert your memory card into this memory card reader, then connect it to your computer. You can connect in one of two ways, via USB or USB-C. This memory card reader very quickly uploads your content onto your computer so that you can view your pictures and videos. Very simple device, but it gets the job done, it looks and feels like it’s made of good quality plastic and metal parts. A device you must have if your computer doesn’t have any slots for memory cards.

The NS-CRSAC1 memory card reader by Insignia is a handy device that allows you to put your SD or Micro SD card into a card reader and use it like a typical thumb drive. This could be helpful to quickly access data from an SD card. Maybe you want to cut down on taking numerous thumb drives, so you use SD cards instead. USB-C plug on other end. USBs are 3.2 Gen 1 and are USB 2.0 backwards compatible. One Year Limited Warranty My Impressions Using It I tested it using a U3 32GB Micro SD card. The speeds seemed pretty good. A 40MB transfer was roughly 2 seconds for me. Works similar to a thumb drive. Plug in and use Windows Explorer to get to the drive. When you want to remove the card reader use the eject prompt to minimize data loss. During my test I plugged into computers with Windows 10 and Windows 11 OS’s. The packaging says that it will also work with Mac, Chrome, iPad, and Android operating systems. You can only use one USB plug end at a time. The memory cards do stick out of the side a little, which is typical for these devices. This memory card reader is a little bigger than other similar products that I have seen. Conclusion Overall I’m happy with the Insignia NS-CRSAC1 memory card reader. It does what it says it will do. The two different USB ends offer quite a bit of flexibility. My only complaint is that it’s a little bigger than other card readers that I have seen. I’m giving this product 4.5 stars officially. Since Best Buy’s star system doesn’t allow half stars, I’ll bump it up to 5.

This thing is so cool! I didn't know anything like this existed. What a lifesaver when you're in a pinch and need to move pictures from an old camera to a new laptop! Awesome!

The design of this adapter is pretty simple and provides some nice flexibility with a USB-C interface on one side and a USB-A on the other. Plug in your SD OR Micro SD to the adapter, plug the adapter into the computer, and you are all set. I emphasized the OR because the adapter can only accommodate one card at a time (physically, two fit, but the computer will not read either card if you have both a SD and a Micro SD plugged in at the same time). I was able to use it with both a newer Apple silicon Mac and a Windows-based PC, so no problems there. When I say the design is "boring," I say that because it is all plastic and it appears to be a "cheap" plastic in that, if I were to throw this in a pocket (it is small enough), I would be worried that it might crack or break. The unit has an end cap on both sides, but the end caps are not exchangeable. The end cap for the USB-C side will only fit the USB-C side and the end cap for the USB-A side, while it will fit on the USB-C side, does not stay on as securely as it does on the USB-A side. The caps also are either on or off. There is nothing that attaches them to the unit when it is in use, so be wary about setting the caps down somewhere and forgetting about them or misplacing them. I did not test transfer speeds, but files seemed to transfer just as quickly as they would to a similar device, so no complaints there. Again. The adapter is relatively inexpensive and versatile with some minor limitations and a less than inspiring design. I am not sure how robust the unit would be if exposed to significant stress and could foresee the plastic breaking or cracking. Still... It does its job.

Only giving 4 stars because I wasn’t able to use it the way I was intending it to. Not the products fault. Overall it’s simple to use and accessible.

I love BestBuy because they always have the expertise needed to not only find what you need, but help on all the issues along the way. In this case they recommended the perfect product for our very old go pro to be able to upload picture to our computer. I fell in love with BestBuy as a place to shop when I needed to get a new phone and my old sim card would not fit. All the phone places were not helpful but at bestbuy they literally cut my SIM card into the proper shape to fit into the new phone, trouble shooted a bunch of things, and got my old contacts in. Great place for phone too!

Very useful for transferring files between my phone, gopro, drone, and computer.

I picked it up because I needed to move information between systems and it just seemed easier to do it with this reader and multiple cards. It was! I'm so pleased. The reader is well made and provides multiple connection options. It's the perfect tool for data transfer! (Along with memory cards of course)

Insignia usb cords/cables/ etc....what to say? Every time I buy an insignia usb product I ALWAYS regret it. 1) This product has false advertising! Sure, the usb-A might be a usb 3 since website says it is and it looks blue....but they dont tell you the controller hardware is ONLY usb 2.0 and not 3.0!! Even the manual inside the box says the usb-A is a 2.0! Happens every time I buy an insignia usb product. They need to change the specs on website before they get hit with a lawsuit for false advertising....This is why they dont tell you on the box what kind of usb it is because its always 2.0 limited. No clue about the type-C but manual says it 3.2 gen 2. Once again, is the controlling hardware gonna limit it to 2.0? Im about to find out. No I wouldnt recommend this to anyone living past 2005.

Works great with my MS Surface Pro. That USB-C connector cut out the need for a USB hub.
