The purpose was to allow me to use two monitors (the other monitor being connected via an HDMI port). Since the monitor and the computer/device didn't recognize each other (not sure where the fault lies), I'll be taking this back to the store.

According to Insignia customer support "This adapter only supports Apple, MackBook or Chromebook" and I should return it for a refund. Per other customer reviews, it works with other laptops. My one-star rating is for Insignia's lazy customer support.

We appreciate your comments. Be mindful that the cable fits only on VGA ports and USB Type-C connections. The USB Type-C must be on the side of the computer.
