We have 8 Amazon Echo units in the household but decided to try the google equivilant. Was not impressed with any options until I saw this unit available. Great unit, clean and modern looking. Good sound quality and depth. Display is simple and straightforward. Ended up buying additional units. Now we have the best of both Amazon and Google in the household. Highly recommend

The sound from the speaker and ease of use is 5 stars. When it comes to the connectivity to WiFi that’s where the speaker lacks. It disconnects randomly and is a major issue when using as an alarm clock. If used strictly as a speaker then you can’t go wrong.

This thing gets loud!!! I paid $40 for it and although I had some issues keeping it on at first, now that I got it setup correctly, I love using it over my 2 smaller bluetooth speakers. I love the portable nature of it and that I can just leave it plugged in somewhere too.

Got on a sale but they actually get decently loud outside. Battery seems to still last 4-6 hours atleast at 3/4ish volume and 150ish feet from the house. I use nest wifi and these have a better connection to wifi than my phone which I don't understand. Have two and still enjoy them by the fire pit at night.

This Google Assistant is great! I loved mine so much I bought several more and gave them away as gifts. They are very easy to set up and use. My daughter (10yrs) and so. (17 yrs) love theirs they are synchronized to their Pandora and so they stream their music and use the alarm for school. Also love the fact that they can make calls with it.

At first, I didn’t think I’d have a use for this product. After a simple setup, I was impressed by the ease of use and sound quality. I found myself using this daily for mundane things I would usually use my iPhone for. Seeking information is easier just asking Google than typing your inquiries by finger tip. I wish I wrote this review that way.

I had a couple of the smaller versions of this speaker and decided to try the larger version when it was on a deal for $25. The speaker quality is great and the ability to take it outside or around the house is awesome as well. The google assistant feature works very well with what we do with it (lights, asking questions, etc). Overall, very pleased.

I use it to play music and as a glorified alarm clock, but this thing is worth it. The alarm at max volume will wake you and the neighbors. The sound when not at max volume is excellent. The speaker is loud enough that you don't need max volume, though at or near max creates severe distortion. Overall though it's a five star product for the price.

This is almost a Google Home but has some better features. And the sound quality is amazing which is half the price of a Google Home. The portable feature is so useful and has a pretty decent battery capacity. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a voice controlled speaker

I haven't taken full advantage of everything this does, but will say I'm super happy with how easy it is to use. Good sound for most music (didn't expect the speaker would be this good). Wouldn't pay full price, though. Good deal for the sale price (40% off retail). Definitely worth the option to be able to unplug and move around the house.

Love the sound and the ability to unplug and go on battery power and take it anywhere in wifi range... outdoors included. Sound quality beats Google Home and Mini and even Alexa Echo. The super sale price for Black Friday allowed me to buy another one as a Christmas gift and still save big. If it goes on sale again I'll buy at least one more.

This is my favorite smart speaker and I own the Echo 1 and Echo v2 and the google home (plus Google Mini and Echo Dot). The sound quality is better than all the others, plus I like the display of the clock. The bass is excellent, and it looks way better than the Echo/Home. I also like that it is the Google assistant which is more useful then Alexa....and smarter.

I purchased this speaker extremely discounted at a price of 29.99. I had already owned it little brother which is located in my bedroom. I use primaryly to play music around the house. Great sound for the brand and price. Huge sound that’s not distorted at high volumes. Great option for an alarm clock. Great introduction to Google Home.

On different days of the week, I have various alarm times. I was using a multi-alarm clock, which was working, but had reached the point of replacement, and I thought this would be a great option. It has no limitations (that I'm aware of), on how many alarms you can actually set. Perfect... The problem is, when you try to set it. You can ONLY set the alarm, using verbal commands. This may not seem like an issue, until your wife has already gone to bed, and you need to set an alarm, for the next morning. Good luck not waking her. For some reason, it does NOT support the alarms you set, in google calendar, which I think is a GIANT failure. My only hope is that Google is working to add that functionality. The other huge negative is the snooze feature. You can stop the alarm, by 'touching' a sensor/light, on the top. If you want to snooze, you have to SAY, "Hey google, snooze". To make things worse, it doesn't always hear you. It then defaults to a 10 minute snooze. It IS nice that you can say "snooze for 20", and it will snooze for 20 minutes. Another issue, with not having an app to edit your alarms, is that you can't 'skip' an alarm. For instance, you can say, "set an alarm, for mon thru friday, at 6am", and it will appear on your alarms list. If you have a day off, on weds, and you say, "cancel my alarm, for tomorrow", it kills that mon-friday alarm setting... permanently. As for the hardware itself, the sound is good. It has a nice base sound to it. I haven't used it a lot, for listening to music, but one time that I set me alarm, it thought I said to use music, so it woke me up to a music playlist, and the sound quality was nice. It has all the normal Google Home functionality. I am NOT a fan of some recent changes Google has made to the software, when it comes to music playback (something I do on my home mini). It's very difficult to play from your own library, even if you tell it to. It likes to play stations from Google Music instead. Overall, I feel like this was a step backwards, in certain areas. This technology is supposed to make life easier, not more complicated.

Great sound on this speaker, once you actually get it setup....kind of hard to know exactly how long to hold the button down to use the other functions. Also, it seems like I had to redo the entire process of setting the google home function up again when i lost power to the speaker. Still overall a pretty good speaker.

Much better sound than the little Google speaker that sells for about the same price as I paid ($50) and it has a battery to let you carry it around to boot! Only 4 stars because the battery only lasts about 3-4 hours at an outdoor volume and my Amazon Tap sounds just as nice with better battery life but at double the sale price.

Best value in Google Home speakers

I bought this speaker for $25. For the same price as a Google Home Mini, I got a MUCH better sounding speaker, time display and a battery backup/ability to take the speaker around the house with me. The build quality is excellent. I already had an existing Google Home setup, so I had absolutely no trouble setting the speaker up. I also had no trouble getting the latest updates, as some other folks seems to have had. In many of the other reviews, I think that the complaints were really about Google Assistant as opposed to the speaker unit itself. Since the latest Google Assistant update I have been able to: * Make phone calls when paired with my phone * Leverage "Routines" in my Google Home setup to set alarms remotely and to set an alarm to go off every day at the same time without having to set it every day * Set up alarms to wake me up with music and then turn on the lights On the minus side: * I can't send a text * The temperature display doesn't stay on But those are minor quibbles that don't bother me all that much. So needless to say, I would highly recommend this unit as both and alarm clock and speaker. You just can't beat it for the price.

I was amazed by the sound output on this speaker. It is well worth the price. You can really crank it up compared to the google home mini or the echo dot. The bass is good. I was surprised. The only downside is maybe the led if you need complete darkness in your room. Other than that it's something I am glad I got.

Once they are paired, it produces great stereo sound (much better than any soundbar I have tried). It also has a separate woofer facing ground, making great bass sound in house. I would not recommend this at a full price since the smart function will have a hard time to pick up your voice commend while playing music.

I really like the sound on my Insignia - Voice Smart Portable Bluetooth Speaker. I like it better than expected. Can't believe how much I enjoy waking up and telling Google to play wake-up music before getting out of bed. Can Bluetooth music from my phone or grab straight from the internet. It initially had some stuttering issues, but it seems to have resolved. There were also many instances where it disconnected from the internet and caused my alarm to not go off. That seems to have resolved as well. (Maybe updating? I did a hard reset somewhere along the way and It didn't resolve either problem immediately, but they did resolve eventually) It would be nice to use it for phone calls, but i like more that it doesn't interrupt my music with phone call related stuff. My schedule changes alot, so there are definitly disadvantages to having to verbally set the alarm when someone is already asleep.
