I really love my Insignia Google Assistant speaker. I love the idea of having the clock display on the front. Sound quality it excellent for the price. It actually packs more sound that the Google branded speakers and for a fraction of the price. I love these speakers so much that I purchased 4 to have throughout my home. Overall this is a great speaker for a great value.

This device works great with our smart plugs at controlling the lights in our home. It has great sound for playing our music through Spotify, pandora, etc, especially the bass. Fun added features like trivia, riddles. You can also set it to give you a list of specific things like weather forecast, traffic report, local news when you say "Hey Google, good morning".

Need to replace my old alarm clock so when I saw this was for sale, I was like why not try it. I am impressed with how well it works and setup was easy. I highly recommend it for anybody needing an alarm clock and Google assistant. Stereo sound is decent. Only wish it would give you an option of different alarm sound but Google is always coming up with new updates.

I bought this on sale here at bestbuy for $25 and what a steal. For the price there are no complaints. I wouldn’t purchase at the full price of $149 though. If you can get these for $25 don’t hesitate to buy. Worth $25. I bought 4 . Kept one and will be giving the others for Christmas gifts.

5 hour battery, great sound for the price, with Googe Assistant

As an alarm, this works as expected. As a speaker, the sound is great!

I bought this as a Deal of the Day product. I needed a new alarm clock. I have had Amazon Echo Dot for a couple of years. I feel Google Assistant has a very rapid response, but I think Echo Dot is more advanced since it has been around longer. Yet, Google Assistant is not far behind. I feel Google Assistant is much more user-friendly, also. Very easy to setup. Love It!

We love this smart speaker! It's got much better sound quality than the google home mini, and at least as good as the full size google home, but it's portable and much cheaper when it's on sale! Battery life is sufficient, but could be better. It's great to be able to bring the speaker out into the yard when I'm doing yardwork!

So I purchased this Google assistant/speaker primarily to use as an alarm clock. Got it on deal of the day, for a steal! Brought it home and plugged it in and connected it to WiFi and waited for the firmware update, as the bright yellow sticker on it suggests you to do before anything. I waited and watched the display to see if the firmware was loading. It should say “Load” when the firmware is downloading. It didn’t. It displayed the time. I waited about 10 minutes. I thought it might be ready. I connected it to Google Home and got it set up. I was able to ask it any questions, set timers, play music, etc. But when I asked it to set an alarm, it would tell me “Okay, your alarm is set”...but then it would quickly follow with “Hmmm...something went wrong. Please try again in a few seconds.” I would repeat with no luck. I then began the Google search for answers. Everything I saw was “Your Internet or WiFi might be weak and to try moving it closer to the router.” Done. Still the same. I dug further for answers. I then read that the firmware should be version 1.32xxx. Mine was 1.27 (you can check the version through the Google Home app). I read to download the firmware update manually you needed to reset the device by holding down the power button for 12 seconds. Done. Still not updated. I then read you needed to discharge the battery and plug it back in to reset it, so I unplugged it overnight and plugged it back in the next morning. Nothing. So finally, I read that there were daily automatic firmware updates nightly around 4 AM. So I left it plugged in and let it set overnight. The next morning, I checked the firmware version and it was still the same. Attempted setting an alarm and the same response. So finally, as I began looking at other alternatives that morning, I looked over at the display around 11:30 AM and saw the display showing “Load”. After a few minutes, it went back to the time and I then checked the firmware version and it was updated. I was then able to set an alarm. Once those shenanigans were done, it worked okay, but after researching other options and after the frustration I experienced, I decided to take it back, spent a considerable amount more, and purchased a Lenovo Smart Display. I didn’t realize how much being able to see what Google thinks you are asking would help, but it definitely does. Plus the screen plays videos and displays the weather and your calendar. It costs more, but the adage “You get what you pay for”, could never be more true. This Insignia smart speaker is decent if you don’t want to spend a lot of money, and can wait a few days for the firmware to update, otherwise, there are better options. After all that, I called in to question the reliability of the unit and future updates, and didn’t want to take the chance. This was disappointing, as normally, I love Insignia products.
