I was looking for a second google home but I like this one more because it has a clock and its better than having a wall clock near the Tv and its a good size, the battery is good, last about 5 hours and the sound is ok, not as good as the google home but it has an adjustable bass and treble so it can get better. Over all its loud enough, its stylish, and the price isn't bad especially around the holidays. Worth the price, but wouldn't pay the full price for this unit tho.

Bought this as a deal of the day. I had never had a Google home device before this one. Easy set up easy to use. I liked it so much I ordered 3 more for Christmas gifts. Everyone is extremely satisfied. Its packaged as an alarm clock but I have it on my kitchen island. We do homework there and ask questions quick and easy. The sound is good when playing music for what it is. It is louder and clearer that I was expecting for a clock. I am satisfied with the purchases

This is easy to setup. You can setup voice recognition for others in the family through the Home app. I like the portability and the battery life of the speaker. I haven't used the alarm clock function yet, but I'm sure that's great also. The speaker sound is decent. I would definitely recommend! The only reason I gave it a 4, is sometimes when we ask for a particular song, Google isn't able to find it, otherwise It's great to have around!

On the fence about this speaker...

I was very excited to see such a powerful sounding speaker with Google home built it. The sound quality of the speaker is great and the bass sounds well. The portability of the speaker is a great addition as well. However, I have had numerous issues with the LCD display screen. I am currently on speaker number three within one week of the original purchase since the first two speakers had very annoying issues with the display screen. The time would randomly start flashing and not stop, sometimes the temperature or the SET words for Bluetooth would randomly appear and sometimes the Google lights on the top would randomly flash on and off. I assumed there was some sort of short or malfunction with the first speaker, so I exchanged it for a second, only to have the same issues happen to the second speaker within the first day of use. So today, I have exchanged the speaker yet again for a third in hopes that this one will work. Also, it would be very nice if there was an option to have the temperature to constantly be displayed instead of only for a few seconds when I ask Google. All in all, the speaker is good, and could be so much better if there had not been issues with the display screen. Finger's crossed that this third one will not have the same issues. If it does, I'm afraid I'm going to just get a full refund and give up on the speaker.

      Hello,

Thank you to choosing our Insignia NS-CSPGASP2 "Voice Smart Portable Bluetooth Speaker with the Google Assistant built-in" We are proud to always have the most advanced technology for our customers. Thanks to all our customers feedback we periodically release software updates that will improve your experience. Please wait for the last update that will be automatically installed on your speaker.

Meanwhile, let me explain that the speaker uses approximate sensors to detect your hand within 5-6" of the top flat surface. The proximity sensor has two purposes, it allows the user to snooze alarm, wave over top surface – snooze ten minutes, touch the top surface cancels alarm. The second feature allows the user to break into loud music play – wave hand – this causes the display to reduce to 20% volume, then 4 sec later return.

Fantastic speaker with Google enabled. Sometimes has trouble picking up wifi, but does not disrupt or alter service. The sound is fantastic, especially for a portable speaker at this price. We also have a UE Megaboom which is my preference for volume/sound but because of this one's pricetag, I am happy to make this one my travel buddy; that way if it is lost or stolen, I can easily replace it, but in the hopes that it won't be, I get to enjoy great sound and Google!

Sound is not quite as good (when compared to devices costing $150 and up) but definitely decent for speakers in this price range...especially if you can find it on sale again for $25 ($125 off the list price)...when it was Deal of the Day when I bought it a month ago. This larger version also includes a built-in rechargeable battery for when you are not near a power outlet. It also has bluetooth connectivity which is also a plus.

I bought this for $25 and at that price this is a lot more than a steal. The sound quality is not bad at all. It is more than enough loud. The time display is a sweet, very useful advantage over Google home. It does pretty much everything you would expect from a Google home. My only worry is how long this will receive software updates from Google. So far thought this is pretty much up to date with Google's own smart speakers

I love this item. I actually bought one of this size and one of other size one. Bigger size one has own chargeable battery so you could carry around. I like the display and speaker. It is easy to setup once you download google home app. The quality of speaker is not as good as other premium bluetooth speaker but I am satisfied with the quality. I would recommend it to my friend.

I bought 4 of these, 1 had to be exchanged for a new one, the one returned had a poor speaker quality. Best Buy immediately sent a replacement at no cost. They sound great, especially since I caught them on sale for $24.99 each. Even though they are set up to use individually sometimes one of the other speakers will here the command and turn on also. Has a pretty good selection of music even if you do not sign up for Google Music Subscription.

I have bought four of these, two large and two small. Given the price, these appear to be End of Life, and when I bought the first ones, they did not have all the features of the Google products (No ability to make phone calls). But, they automatically received updates to the current software version and I give Best Buy full credit for doing that to a House product they seem to be closing out. All four show the time of day and that is a nice touch. I have never used the fact that the two large ones have built in batteries and probably never will, so. . . . The very best feature of the two large ones is the speaker quality. I have a couple of the original Sonos speakers, and going from room to room, you can tell these speakers and the Sonos have different sounds, but I do not prefer one over the other, which is totally surprising and for the price, the Insignia is fantastic just as a speaker. I have not played either the Sonos or these speakers at or near full volume so I do not have that to talk about, but the speakers on these Insignias are excellent. They are way better than the original Alexa cylinders and the original Google Home speakers. The two small ones are about as good as the small Google and Amazon speakers. Yes, I have these things all over the house. Bottom line, I have put the two larger speakers where they get played everyday, and the larger Google and Amazon speakers are now in secondary locations. The two smaller ones, I am indifferent as to whether I use them or the small Google and Amazon ones. For the price I paid for the two larger ones, it makes them a true bargain and the support they got from Best Buy was unexpected. Great stuff

Basically this is a google home smart speaker but Insignia branded. It also has a clock display and can run off it's internal rechargeable battery. The overall sound quality is good, not sure how well it compares to an actual google home but definitely sounds better than the small google home mini or echo dot. When this is/was on clearance is priced the same if not lower than an echo dot/google home mini so I would get this instead!

This is a google assistant in an excellent speaker and a built in battery, making this a steal when it is on sale compared to Amazon Alexa or Google Home. However... Do not count on this for an alarm clock. For whatever reason, this thing requires a network connection and if that fails, the entire unit fails. Great product when it works, but this limitation made me plug my regular alarm clock back in.

The device was easy to set up and sounds great at medium and high volumes, but at very low volumes the sound drops out frequently and is choppy and unpleasant. I spent a bunch of time trying to troubleshoot this - initially I thought it was being caused by poor wifi reception - but finally figured out the same song played at high volume sounded fine, it was only when playing it at low volume it had the problem. The same song on the Google Home mini sounds smooth even at very low volume, but I guess this is an unfair comparison since the mini doesn't have nearly the volume range of the Insignia Voice. I read on the product page QandA that this is actually a characteristic of many audio amplifiers. I got my insignia voice on sale for about $30, and I am pretty happy with the purchase at that the price, despite the low volume issue. One other thing I'll point out - this device is huge compared to the non-portable version (I have one of those too). I don't mind it being sp big, but I was really surprised by it. Based on the photos on the Best Buy site, I was expecting the two speakers to be about the same size. That's not the case at all. I do like that the digital display is also a little bigger. If you have very limited counter space, you will probably want to go with the much smaller, non-portable version. I haven't used the speaker on battery power yet, only plugged in, so can't comment on how well it works in 'portable' mode.

Take a google home, add a 5 hour usage battery and a digital alarm clock and sell it for less. How could you go wrong. I also have an Amazon Echo (Alexa) which in itself is a good product, but of the 2, I prefer the Insignia. The google assistant which it uses seems to understand questions and commands better and I find myself using it more often than the Echo. The fact that it was about half the cost of the Echo doesn't hurt either.

I use this as an alarm clock and smart speaker in my bedroom. I can give voice commands to turn on/off lights, or ask about the weather, or play my Spotify playlists. Solid build quality, good speaker, can be plugged in or carried around on batteries reliably for 3-4 hours. I secretly wish it had Alexa, but Google Home works just as well. I just don't like saying OK Google. I want to say "Computer, play music".

I had the non-portable one already and was pleased with it. This one is essentially the same, except bigger to accommodate the battery for when you unplug it. It is larger than I thought it would be. Feels about twice the size of the non-portable one. It has great sound like that one and it's nice to be able to unplug it from it's usual location and take it to another room where I'll be spending time or even outside.

I like the product, except it often drops off the network, which means you have to reset and set it up again to use google assistant. But if you are just looking for a bluetooth speaker, then this is great - the price, the sound, charge and portability.
