It was a suggested accessory. Years ago, I had a Garmin portable friction mount that was of much higher quality. The Insignia mount is for a Garmin nuvi and relies on a simple slide bracket to hold the connecting pivot ball. It is unsatisfactory and unstable. The Garmin part number is 010-10908-02 and is available at Amazon. I am very pleased with the authentic Garmin portable friction mount. Buy your Garmin at Best Buy and your portable friction mount at Amazon.

As advertised - IT DOES NOT MOVE on dashboard. HOWEVER, the clip that attaches to the back of the GPS has an irritating way of falling off the GPS, I'd glue the sucker on, but then I wouldn't be able to remove it if I needed to.

My dash is slightly tilted towards the front of the car so for the most part the GPS was pointing at the roof of the car.

My GPS device doesn’t attach securely to this mount. The attaching mechanism is complicated and does not hold my GPS securely. I’ve literally had my GPS fall off of the mount while I was driving. I had a prior version of this mount which fit other GPS devices perfectly. This mount does not work for me at all!

It does not sit there, it falls off and onto the floor. Do not put your Garmin in it you will always be picking the Garmin off the floor and this thing, too.

It can’t support the weight of the GPS, therefore most of the configurations don’t work. It has this cheap slide on clip that allows the GPS to slip off and fall onto the floor. Don’t waste your money!

Perhaps it would work better with a different GPS device or a different car.
