Affordable smart plug. App simple and easy to use. Initial setup was difficult until I realized that I had to shut off my cellular data on my phone because it interferes with Wifi connection. Easy to setup with Google Home. Would occasionally drop connection with router and will have to reset router. Otherwise the plug works pretty well.

It took some struggling to get this guy installed on my network. I'll admit most of my struggle was due to my cell phone having software installed by ATT that kicked me out of the setup because when connected to the plug there is obviously no internet access and the att app wouldn't allow me to maintain a connection. That was super frustrating and I'd venture to guess most people would just have given up and returned it as defective. Turning off ATT smart wifi and boom super simple to get it going. I don't have an Echo or Google home device yet so setting that portion up was impossible for Google. Alexa allows you to set the device up via the Alexa app and add the insignia connect skill so I can control it that way. Booo Google!

It was difficult to set up. Took several tries before the process was complete, but it was not much worse than other wireless items. I have a pretty smart home so I am experienced. It takes a little patience but it kept things cycling on and off as I set it to do during the holidays. So now I have more uses for it. Price was right.

This smart plug is easy to set up. App is also easy to use. The design is wider and not as sleek as other models of smart plugs, however not bad. Overall works well. Have only had a few weeks so can't speak to longevity.

Very easy to setup and use. Connected to the Insignia app quickly and to Google Home with no problem. Works very well. The green light is very bright and is a bit annoying in a bedroom. Thus the 4 vs 5 star.

I purchased two of these from the recommendation of salesperson. Getting the 1st one to connect to my wifi was not easy. The instructions lack detail. After connecting to my wifi the rest was easy. I utilized the timer feature and the plug works as expected. I'm going to use these for a couple months before buying more plugs.

Very good product. Easy to use and works perfectly. I just think it could be a little cheaper. At the moment we have such devices very cheap, we will be able to install many of them at home. That's why I give 4 stars.

I'm probably not using this plug for quite what it's intended, but I'm having great results all the same. I have a particular light plugged in and it's in a location without a switch and is basically inaccessible. I also don't need it very often, but it's too hard to get to do to anything else but leave it there. Enter this smart plug. I now can easily pop open my iPad and turn it on and off at a whim. It's been working reliably for months and is always quick and responsive when I need it to be. Plus, this is a little less expensive than some of the "name brand" options, so that's a plus.

Have a lamp on a timer using the app and it goes on every day the same time and turns off. It works seamlessly with Google to turn it on and off during the day as needed. Love it . Documentation a bit vague.

On its own with the insignia app, this works perfectly. When trying to integrate it with Google Assistant, it becomes a bit of a pain. Having the Google Home and Google Assistant app installed, neither saw the two plugs I had in the "discover devices" (which were setup already in the insignia app), my way of getting it to work was to search in Google Assistant for the "things you can do" and look up "insignia", of which there will be two entries for the same thing, one will say setup under the title, the other will say link. Only one of these will work, but after that, it's been flawless, no drops, no random resets. In short, it's great, I just wish integrating with Google Assistant was more straightforward.

Was very excited to set this product up with a living room lamp, allowing me to control it with my phone or tell a Google Mini to turn the light on and off. Setting the product up with the Insignia Connect app was VERY difficult. I consider myself to be very tech savvy, and setup was a pain. The app tells you not to click on a network when you connect to the Insignia.XXXXX WiFi network, but I HAD to do this to get the app to proceed to the next screen. Device would go on and off during setup. It was a pain. BUT...once I got everything setup finally and connected to the Google Home app, the device works like a charm. I didn't want to rip the product because once you get through the setup, it works great.

Does anyone know how to give a 1 star review? Asking for a friend.... These things are god awful. I should say setup is. The hardware might work good but I haven't been able to get them to a usable status. Ive tried 3 different phones to pair them and an iPad. Thought maybe it was relative to iOS 11 so I tried with iOS 10 and 9 as well. Believe the App Store reviews when they tell you its trash. The app may look pretty, but it doesn't function. I should also mention, I've tried 3 different WiFi networks as well. I found a diagnostic app by the company who makes the hardware inside the device and went through the pair process... seems to connect to my wifi then fails at polling the cloud service that controls it.

I did not like these plugs

I purchased these plugs for my family room lamps. They were not as easy to set up as the TP-Link smart wifi wall plugs that I have in my bedroom. I purchased these because they were slightly less expensive as the TP-Link. When my internet would go down, they plugs would not automatically reconnect. I was constantly having to press the green light bar to get the plugs reconnected. Although these work with both Alexa and Google Assistant, I was not happy. I would have returned them for a refund, but I fell out of my return window of 45 days because I am an Elite Plus member. I also did not keep the original packaging. If you want a good stable wifi smart plug, go with the TP-Link brand. They work so much better.

This product uses WiFi for smart home functionality. Downloading the Insignia App and setting up the device was easy. It also allows for control of your lights from remote locations. Pair the app with Google Home and Alexa and you have voice control. Android users? Google Assistant is built into the Android OS. Its pretty cool to tell google to turn on all my lights before i arrive home. Also the plug supports automation. I have it set to turn on at 5:00 a.m. / turn off at 9:00 a.m. every morning from Monday through Friday. Even better, I got it for $15 on Black Friday!

We purchased this smart plug to work with our Google Home. It works great but was confusing to set it up. Had to download app and connect it with Google. Once set up, the smart plug and app work great.

I use these with Google Assistant (via Google Home Minis, Insignia Alarm Clock and my phone/tablet) to turn lights on/off. Reliability and functionality is what you would expect. I'm taking one star off for setup - you are better setting this up with a tablet without cell data than with a phone - there's a part in setup where your device has to connect directly to the outlet. To do this, it turns off wifi - but if you're on your phone (or tablet with cellular data) it will connect to cell data and not the device when wifi is turned off by setup - and setup won't complete. Use a wifi only tablet or turn cell data off before you start setup - and you should be good.
