After spending nearly 2 frustrating hours trying to pair the smart plug with my wireless router, which was finally accepted I received notifications during the night that the plug lost connection atleast 6 times during the night. After reading reviews on the Insignia web site and related forums, I see that a lot of folks have experienced the same issues. I'll be returning this productc at my first opportunity.

I have another insignia smart plug, that is with a power meter. Installed and connected very easily. This product however is a pile of trash. It tells me to connect to insignia wifi then it tells me to press done on the wifi step, says don't connect to wifi. Then when I do do that it says no wifi connection. So i connect back to my wifi and it goes back to the apps home screen. Most likely will return this.

Works great with my Google home, easy to setup too!

Download the Insignia app to connect it to your wifi, pair it with Google Home, uninstall the Insignia app. Simple. The only complaint is the thickness so you can't hide it behind furniture, but great if you want a way to turn off a light or a device you want control of when you're away from home.

We use the smart plug to control our downstairs floor light. It literally only took us five minutes to set it up. Now we can turn on and off the light from upstairs remotely using our phones. Love it!

owned this for about 5 weeks. they have randomly "lost internet connection" a few times and had to be resynced. i have smart plugs from TP-link for 6 months and have worked flawlessly the entire time. spend a bit more and buy the TP-link one. its much more reliable. insignias smart products are sub-par.

Easy setup with simple instructions. My Christmas lights are scheduled perfectly for different weekday/weekend hours. Most likely going to buy a few more for myself and as stocking stuffers

I recently purchased an alexa echo and wanted to experament with some of these outlet plugs and one of the wall switches. So far not very impressed, functionality is hit or miss. Sometimes they work and sometimes they dont. When they dont work the green light blinks and thats it. Router is well in range, i can see the products on my router and all have great signal. Even on the app, click to turn lights on or off and it doesnt work.

I purchased 5 of these one was dead out of the box. Returning it was a hassle. The app on my phone was updated and everything has disappeared. all the rooms and devices are gone and have to be added again, a process that is fraught with problems. Now a second one has stopped working and I am sure to be out of luck because the 15 day return period has past.

Set up my Google Home with 3 GH minis, 6 Hue lights, 3 Chromecast Audio and 2 Chromecast video without any issues or assistance. Purchased this 1 smart plug and it wouldn't connect. Called tech support and after a half hour they said its not compatible with a 5Ghz network. All my other smart devices are on this network without issues. Returned it.

Not sure why other people are giving this bad reviews, as I have not had any negative experiences. I'm actually pretty amazed at how well and quickly the outlet responds to commands - either through the App or through voice commands using Amazon Echo. I'm buying more of these, for sure..

purchased and tried to install today is in direct line with my router less than 15 feet will not connect i have a verryyy strong WiFi signal just green flashes alexa cant find it either will be returning this piece of junk tomorrow have tried to log on from app 2 phones and 2 kindles insignia connect just aint happening more like insignia not connect

After purchasing Alexa from bestbuy I decided to purchase smart plug also. Sales agent at the store recommended me to buy insignia smart plug according to him it’s a best for it's price so I bought two of them. I was very excited and installed in my room as soon as I got home. Installations and procedures was very simple and started working right away. I connected one with my light and other one with my tv. However, after couple of week they both stop working. Won’t response to my command and Alexa keep saying light and tv are not connected. So I decided to call insignia customer service, after couple of minutes agent answered a call and after asking me model number and all the necessary info he apologize right away and told me that they are having software issue and it should fix next week and we will send you email and then you can call us and we guide you how to update software and other option he gave me to return it and get refund back. So far no email received about software upgrade. When I asked to speak to supervisor agent then put me on hold and never came back after 20 I had to hang up. ( great customer). Bottom line do not waste your time on this product.

I bought this on black friday I thought I got a deal but this was the worst purchase I have ever made with best buy. I like best buy over all but I did not like this product. Tried to connect for 2 hours kept getting errors and device did not perform at as expected and my google was not even working properly with it. Do NOT BUY. PLEASE.

I purchased 4 of these as well as 6 from another manufacturer. The 6 others have been rock solid. These, on the other hand have been unstable. They easily loose connectivity. I have had to place these at the closest points to my wireless router. When they work they work well. The control app is very user friendly and easy to set up. I would suggest the manufacturer beef up the wireless portion of this device.

The plugs themselves are great and seem durable. Unfortunately, the app you must you is terrible and has connectivity issues. I've only had my plugs for a few days but they've only stayed connected to my network and usable for approximately 5 hours off and on.

I own 5 of these. At least once a day, one of them will not respond. The light on it is flashing, but it eventually gets back online. I own TP-Link plugs, too, and those never ever give me problems. Router/device resets and removing interference doesn't help these, either: it simply won't connect to the network until it feels like it. It's amusing when I tell Google to turn on, say, the downstairs lights in anticipation that I'll be going that way shortly. I don't think about it, and often forgot I was going to go downstairs, until 5 to 10 minutes later I see the lights suddenly turn on! What's not amusing is that I had to move these plugs to low-impact devices like side table lamps. I wouldn't trust plugging anything in that I would want turning on (on not turning off) while I wasn't around. Unsafe! I wish I would have spent a few more dollars and had all TP-Link plugs. I may gift these to friends who want to try the smart speaker fun but don't want to invest in it just yet (and I'll let them know that not all plugs are this buggy!)

This is why retail is dead, I spend too much time ordering this product and driving to the store. I should of just bought an Amazon product. The product does not connect to wifi. When I downloaded the app you can see the one star review average on the app store for failures. Did they even test this product?

So far it is working after a little trouble with setup. Does not have option for multiple on/off settings.

Within about 3 minutes I was able to control my lamp. A few minutes later, I had it's schedules set. It's very simple to control.
