app never connects to smart plug. fails at the step to add new home. waste of time and money.

I purchased three of these. Setup for first one was great. Setup for second and third, see the product Q & A, as I am not alone in my experience of that. The setup after first device errors constantly. Plan on spending at least a half hour resetting the device, your router, and your phone (the app) over and over until it connects. Eventually, (when the stars align) you will get there. But your journey is far from over: It has zero integration, meaning you are tied solely to their app to run it, along with their odd non-intuitive scheduling which frankly, since I have three of these, simply doesn't work and I've given up trying-- time on the planet is limited and this is not how I'm going to spend mine. That said, if you are seeking a replacement for a single device timer, for say, the one lamp you have in the living room that you just want to turn on and off at a set time every day and not much else while you're enjoying your TV dinner and watching the console TV, this is your device. Otherwise, no, would not recommend this nor would I purchase it again given what I know now. If you are considering multiple devices and scedules, stay away from this. There are better products out there that do exactly that, and they do it well.

I've been dabbling in home automation for 10 years and this is one of the worse products I have ever used. I bought 3 of these and was only able to successfully setup 1 of them which reset itself recently. Save your money or spend a little extra a get a plug that actually works. Best Buy should pull this plug now! Awful.

This product definitively does not work with Google Home. The app cannot link the accounts. At first I wondered if it was just me, but then found plenty of evidence on the internet that this is a widespread problem. It does link to Apple HomeKit well, but do not buy this for Google Home. It should frankly state that up front instead of putting Google Assistant on their box as if it's really supported.

They keep updating the app and it keeps not working for initial device setup. The app works on IOS devices but not Android. I can't set these up using any of my Android devices, but if I borrow an iPhone I can. If they ever fix the app and get it working right on Android devices these might be worth buying, but right now I can recommend them to anyone who doesn't have an iPhone to use for initial setup.

This product is not worth the time or money. Will not work with WiFi. Not even if it next to the router. When calling the support number you are better off to return the product. They are not very bright. Plus I feel there are some security issues with people getting in the WiFi. Beacuse I was able to get into my neighbors WiFi from my living room they live across the street. Do not use this product.

Bought these for my Christmas lights and after trying for 3 days i still just get an error when trying to link accounts

Nothing what I expected Their app has 2 stars and keeps disconnecting.

The stupid app won't save a house to use it, so the plug is useless

The device works intermittently at best, especially if you rely on the app or the Amazon echo to control it. Many times, I have to resort to pressing the button on the device itself to get the unit to turn on and off. It was working for a while just fine, even after the update with Amazon echo support. Today, I cannot even sign in, and I get no response from the app.

I bought this product because I was going to be away from my NAS hard drive. I wanted to be able to reset it if I needed to remotely, only I can't because my smart plug needs to be reconnected to the local wifi which I won't be able to do. It's seems like a good product if you will be around your stuff, but it could go out on you like it did me when you really need it!

Do not buy this if you are going to want it to work with Google home. I bought it at the suggestion of the store rep and I have been messing with it for 3 days. I can get it to work with their app, but Google home will never connect with insignia connect, I will be returning it and will not purchase any insignia products in the future.

I bought 2 of these and was not able to get either to be recognized by google home. Followed the instructions, spent an hour on the phone with support and nothing. I have set up the Google wifi, google home and a Lynx wifi light with no issues. These were very frustrating for something that should be so simple. JMO look for another product

Using ios11.2.1. Won’t connect to WiFi. Read all user tips and instructions, performed factory resets, moved closer to router.. After being redirected to app, I select WiFi router and enter password. Message says unable to connect to router. Bought one of these for me and one as a gift. Am returning both. Not impressed and not amused.

couldn't even get it past first base. couldn't set it up at all, kept getting "failed to register with insignia servers". it shouldn't be this hard to setup a smart plug, and i work in IT! tried everything, resetting network, resetting to factory defaults.miserable experience. bestbuy/insignia needs to get their act together.

I followed exactly the instructions, installed the app on my android phone and even found the device in that app. Then when selecting the network it just gives an unspecific error message, shuts down everything and you have to reset the device. After several attempts with no success I just gave up and return this to the store.

i purchased this to turn my lamps on and off without having to get up.for the first week it actually worked, and after a while it stopped. i contacted insignia and was told it was an app error and it will be fix shortly. that was almost two weeks ago and it still isnt working. this is going back. junk!!!!

The Insignia Connect App only works when it feels like it. Some of the devices work some of the time. Sometimes they all work and other times none of them work. Controlling it with an Amazon Echo is impossible most of the time. Using these switches is more like home aggravation than home automation.

I found - after I got it home - that my phone os is 5.0.1. After looking at upgrading it to Marshmallow I decided just to try to install the app. It worked and both devices are working find - at the moment. We'll see if they keep working. I did have to reset each device before it would connect but otherwise no problems.

I bought this for my mother for Christmas and the plug quit working after less then two weeks! This thing is going back, and I'm not buying any more Insignia Connect products! Total disappointment!
