You do need to pay close attention to the instructions during installation. I use these to control plug in under cabinet lighting and table lamps. They do not dim and are suitable for low voltage and line voltage devices.

Great price but difficult to setup and stay synced

I thought the Wi-Fi connected product would be a great addition to my other smart home devices, but it was hard to sync to my Wi-Fi. Finally got it to work after nearly two-hours. Alexa app saw the Insignia Connect devices no problem. A week later, both lost the Wi-Fi connection. After an hour I got one back up, only to lose it again the next morning.

After reading the connectivity issues you've encountered, we would like to share some additional information which may shed some light as to why the plug is not functioning adequately. Firstly, the issue you have described is most likely caused by a weak WiFi signal in the location that the Smart Plug is used. You can check for this by observing the WiFi signal strength in the Insignia Connect app. If it has one or more green bars constantly, it should not disconnect. Also if you ever see the green LED on the smart plug blink on/off repeatedy, it does point to a weak WiFi signal. Lastly, if you have the plug connected to your 5Ghz. WiFi network router, try switching it to your 2.4Ghz network. 5Ghz WiFi has a much shorter range, especially when going through walls. A WiFi range extender positioned half-way between your WiFi router and the smart plug will also help. THE APP SUCKS. You can't even get pass the first loading screen. What's the point of having a Wifi Plug where you cannot set it up in the first place.
