I'm not a fan of the PS4 gold headset because they tend to get hot and hurt my ears also. These do tend to slide of fluff and get in the way sometimes and also the hearing isn't great so I only recommend as a temporary headset.

People can still hear me but I can't hear them, after much tinkering, trial and error and so on, I have found 0 actual long term solutions to fix the problem. If I had gotten a year of service out of at least one of the mics then I wouldn't be so irritated, but, like I said, I've had 2 fry on me within a matter of >6 months. I'm currently combing through my email accounts looking for the receipt because I made a preemptive strike and purchased insurance on $20 mic set knowing this would happen by some divine chance #adulting All in all though, it's a great temporary mic but if you play a lot or put a lot of hours into your gaming sessions when you can play, I would suggest finding something worth the money over this band-aid solution of a product they call a functioning mic set

But it's really the only headset like this out there for the PS4 and my only other option is to be driven nuts listening to my kids annoying friends in game-chat, so we'll continue to replace it as needed. This is why I bought Geek Squad protection for it!
