It seems like the older InSinkerator garbage disposals were a lot better. I had a 3/4 HP, 20+-year-old InSinkerator Badger that was much quieter, ground everything, and did it much more quickly. Since this is the only brand I have had in my house, I cannot comment on if it is better than other brands or not but if I were to buy one again, I would get another 3/4 HP.

Dear Valued Best Buy Customer, thanks for sharing. Noise is affected by the material of the sink, how well the sink is secured, material of the cabinets, what is being ground in the disposer, etc. InSinkErator motors are particularly quiet and certain models have even greater quietness features. You may want to check the Evolution models on this link to see their specifications: https://bit.ly/3DLh9HD or for further assistance please reach out to us via https://support.insinkerator.com/app/ask.

Hello DVLP, we’re sorry to hear that our product did not meet your expectations and that you experienced difficulty with the installation. This is not the experience we aim to provide, and we understand your frustration. Several factors can affect the noise level of a garbage disposer, such as the material of the sink and cabinets or whether the unit is securely installed. Additionally, noise can sometimes be caused by a dishwasher knockout plug that has fallen inside the disposer during installation. We want our products to be a seamless addition to your home, not a source of stress. Please reach out to us at https://support.insinkerator.com/app/ask so we can help you resolve this issue.

The Insinkerator - Badger 5 impressed me greatly from the onset. Not only did the build quality and ruggedness of this garbage disposal impress me it left in awe. To my surprise, it surpassed the 1970’s versions of the old heavy-duty Kitchen Aid unit we had and that I have seen through the years. I am very impressed to see a product in 2022 of this quality with all of the heavy-duty parts and build of their product. It has a large capacity and a continuous feed making it nearly impossible to bog down. The Badger 5 is designed to plug directly into a receptacle so you may need to do some wiring to bring your home up to speed regarding modernization and code guidelines. The installation of the Badger 5 was straightforward and just as simple as any other modern disposal. This particular model comes with all of the items you need to install it and the installation is straightforward and simple with the lift and latch system enabling you to use your old mounting assembly in most cases. However, I opted to use the included mounting hardware because its superior quality. There were no problems with leaks and despite the slightly heavyweight, it was easy enough for a solo job. The Badger 5 surpassed my expectations in every way and despite the heavy-duty build, it is still very quiet compared to older models. If you arte in the market for a new disposal I have no doubt the Insinkerator brand would be a top choice. It has old-school ruggedness with a modern build assembly for added noise reduction and a motor that is plenty powerful with a ½ horsepower motor. I can not imagine a better choice than an Insinkerator disposal in 2022. It may cost a little more than many of it’s competitors but is well worth it in my opinion. It will likely be the last disposal you ever purchase for your home. So go ahead and pull the trigger and kiss your disposal problems goodbye for good!

Have now had this item installed twice, but the unit's grinding sound was so annoying and extremely loud that the first installer, felt the first unit was bad, so he ordered another identical new unit and it was as well just as loud as the first. Have now ordered and waiting on another model completely different from these original units.

This little gem made my day. So much less waste being tossed into the trash that can now just go down the drain. Hook up was a breeze. In fact when hooking it it i removed all the old pipes and put new ones in to 1 help the process of not worrying about a leaking pipe using the old ones but it was just way easier to disconnect the old pipes and have all the extra room to work when installing the trash compactor. A few pointer when hooking it up make sure you either have pipe dope or pvc thread tape to get a good seal so nothing leaks once you have it completely installed. The beauty of this model is it has a standard plug in so you don't have to hard wire anything, you simply plug it in once you have everything hooked up and go to town. I don't know about you but me and electricity do not get along very well. Another pointer is measure all your pipes you are going to need and try and have the most direct rout from the garbage disposal to the main drain headed out of the house. Personally i did not put the elbow in rite under it like a trap i left that out in hopes it will make it drain easier. I got the lower end model of the 3 but it will be more than fine for household use. Works great and i could not be happier.

insinkerator perfect timing for me to upgrade the sink disposal since we just bought a place, the one that we had was kinda had a rattling sounds, seems kinda lose, it was also an older Insinkerator, now with banger 5 is honestly all I need to have a great disposal, I definitely don’t recommend having heavy food at disposal I probably only use this for veggies, rice on majority of the time. anybody can install one of these is fairly simple. I do wish my sink disposal was on a dedicated electric plug, but I had to splice the previous wire and connect this Insinkerator banger 5 with it. I didn’t had to use some of the parts that it’s in this package because what I currently had worked fine with Badger 5. been using this for the past couple of days now, and it’s work great, it’s just the standard version but it a night and day difference from the older Badger 5 the previous owner had. Insinkerator has disappointed me yet, so far I would continue to buy their product, it’s a solid product, if you need a much bigger disposal they also offer those as well.

Insinkerator - Badger 5 - DIY Project Fun

Insinkerator - Badger 5 Garbage Disposal - Great DIY Project - I tackled replacing the original garbage disposal that came with our house. After unboxing and reading the instructions, I was like piece of cake. Well that soon turned into a 2.5-hour project. Getting the old garbage disposal removed was fairly straight forward. First, I turn off main water to house and flip power breaker for your disposal. Disconnect the plumbing up to the Garbage Disposal Unit and release the locking ring that holds the unit in place to the sink and the unit will come off easily. The sink attachment piece is held in place with a lock spring. Remove that and the sink attachment can be removed easily. Repeat the process in reverse. Honestly the hardest part was holding the Garbage disposal unit in one hand and trying to line up and lock in place with the other hand. Once the Garbage Disposal was locked into place and attached to the sink, it comes down to basic plumbing at that point. Do yourself a huge favor. Before starting your replacement project, buy the Garbage Disposal Installation kit that comes with all the plumbing parts needed to complete job. We replaced our unit that had the original plumbing. I knew once we disturbed the plumbing during the installation, we would need to replace it. It just saves so much headache in the long run to replumb with new piping than to use the existing and risk leaks all over the place as we experienced! Overall, very pleased with the Insinkerator - Badger 5 Garbage Disposal. Just be prepared to do a little replumbing during the installation. Trust me, you will be thanking yourself for thinking ahead and purchasing an installation kit that comes with all the parts needed! We got our 1 1/2" Garbage Disposal Installation Kit from Lowes in the Plumbing Section. This Garbage Disposal unit comes with the plug attached to it so all you need to do is plug it in once installed.

Solid Standard Garbage Disposal Works and Works

The InSinkerator - Badger 5 Standard Series 1/2 HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal is a solid member of Badger's well-established line of garbage disposals. I've used many Badger disposals over the years and have found them to be solid, well-made, and reliable products. It's a little hard to evaluate the relative strengths of a 1/2 vs 2/3 HP disposal. This is the standard 1/2 HP model and it confidently handles the full range of normal kitchen waste put through it. You do have to watch out for the odd item that can sometimes cause problems (such as a peach pit). But I've experienced that with the 2/3 HP model as well. Of course you also need to keep utensils out of it as well. Otherwise, it just works and works and works. If you have not had one installed previously, then you will need to make sure you have power available. You'll also need to make sure you have the right plumbing in place as well. For me, installing it as a replacement for a much older unit was a relative breeze. The hardware, etc. was already in place so it just took some muscle, basic tools, and it was in in no time. I like products that you can confidently rely on once they've been installed. This is one of them.

What is in the box. inSinkerator motor and assembly, with 32-inch power cord installed. Sink mounting adapter. Discharge pipe with o ’ring lock down plate and bolts hex key instruction manual Following the instructions, the installation went with-out any problems. The weight to size makes handling the unit under the sink quite cumbersome. Make sure you orientate the unit properly before attaching to the under-sink latch. Having already had a garbage disposal the electrical was already in place. If this is a first-time installation, consider where the outlet and switch will be located. For a half horsepower motor the unit is quiet enough. The inSinkerator passed the celery test without any clogging. The instructions caution against grinding high fiber items, as clogging may occur. The unit is equipped with a hex key and a spot on the bottom for unclogging. The inSinkerator comes with a three-year limited warranty. The lift and latch system for easy installation. Dependable grind for most food scraps. The unit is sturdy and made with galvanized steel grind components. I would recommend this garbage disposal to friends and family.

Build Quality - Build is very good and durable. Packaging was very substantial. Unpacking was a breeze. All parts and components were in the box. We are really good with the instruction manual and the steps for installation of the garbage disposal. Performance - Used it for the past few days making stews and soups. Chicken as well as turkey debris and the peels of onion, potatoes, carrots went through the disposal without fail. Speed of chopping the food into bits was very quick and no issues Grinding the debris and having it go down the drain. Quietness - Very quiet machine - had a different brand before and it was rather loud. This one is very quiet and can still have conversations when it is chopping and grinding the foods. Installation and space under sink was very good. Used the existing drain kit that was from a different brand but was universal with the insinkerator brand. It took about 20 minutes from start to finish to get the garbage disposal installed, running and tested without fail. The plug was the best part, It came already installed on the garbage disposal, so one less step to have to manage.

Solid and Aggressive, Like a Badger!

The Insinkerator Badger 5 food disposer is a good value in my opinion based on several factors I will highlight here: -Fairly straightforward installation for someone who is DIY savvy. (The quick connect sink coupler is a big factor in this.) -Power cord comes attached so it is a quick "plug and play" unit, so long as you have the outlet under your sink. -After testing for several days, it has had no issue chewing up various food scraps we've thrown at it. As aggressive as Badgers can be, I'd say the disposer has a fitting name. :) -After the install process and using the product I can say with a fair amount of certainty that this disposer will be a dependable, long life product in our home. -The construction and build quality of this disposer seems on par, maybe even a notch above other units I have used in the past. -The 1/2 hp motor and galvanized grinder have been up to the task in our household (2 adults, 3 kids) and I personally would not hesitate to purchase this unit. Overall, this is a solid food waste disposer for the price and should not be overlooked when considering your purchasing options.
