Not IONs best Speaker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was buying the ION Acadia Speaker to replace a set of syncing bluetooth speakers that are starting to go bad. I’m a water aerobics instructor and was looking for a loud, clear, waterproof speakers that pair easily for surround sound on the pool deck. A deciding factor for choosing Acadia was that I owned other ION speakers and was pretty happy with them. Unfortunately, this speaker did not meet expectations. The Good: The speaker feels solid. It's weighty without being heavy. The cowbell shape gives it a solid, steady base. It's very portable, making it easy to take to class. I like that the colored light band was minimal. The bass boost is a nice feature and being waterproof to submersion was a nice touch. The Bad: The speakers are pointed left and right, and the woofer is on the front. There isn't a true 360º of sound and the way the speakers are positioned, there's no 'good' way to angle them for better, louder sound. From the first beat, my class was asking me to turn it up... and it was all the way up. Also, the usb charging cord is REALLY short and a charging brick is not included. The Ugly: Pairing is a total nightmare. Yes, you can pair up to 100 speakers, but every time you turn the speakers off, you have to pair all over again. There is a very specific sequence of buttons that needs to be pushed. The manual pairing of the speakers before each class was just too stressful. I was constantly worried I wouldn’t get the music to play. The speakers I was attempting to replace stayed synced together until manually un-synced. So sadly, these speakers are going back and my search for new speakers continues.
