This devise simply did not work for me. The captures portion of the video simply did not show up on the computer. The camera I was using is pretty old which could be the problem but, I'm not so sure.

This unit was obsolete. Even the paperwork that came with it indicated this. And to do the things I needed to do (VCR to DVD) I would have had to upgrade anyway.

It works now, but CD included was of no use at all

I'm a Windows 7 user, and I purchased the VIDEO 2 PC "MKII" version, which claims to "work with virtually any video source: VCR, camcorder, and more" and convert to digital. It came with an installation CD containing the drivers and software. Drivers installed fine; however, aside from it's attractive GUI, the software was worthless for converting from a VCR. The software included was Cyberlink Power Director 8, which doesn't even have an option for capturing video from a VCR. I tried everything and finally ended up going to ion audio's website and downloading the software that comes with their other VIDEO 2 PC version (without the MKII) called EZ Video Converter, and finally got it working. Why would they advertise a feature but provide software that doesn't live up to their claims?

Just what I needed for my Mac

Other converters for Mac cost about 30 bucks more. This was on sale and worth the amount i paid. I uploaded the software and ran the program no problem. There are only two small catches...First, the video quality isnt tip top, but that has more to do with the fact that you have to use AV cables than anything, but I was pleased with how my VCR images came out...Second, and this is a little frustrating, if you use iMovie, you cant import the movies directly into iMovie. You have to use Ion's program to capture, and then import the captured video in to iMovie. Its not hard and only takes a few extra seconds, so its no big deal...Over all, I would def. recommend you get the Ion Video 2 PC if you are trying to save home VHS's.

Easy set-up and does what it says it will do. No problems.
Have been able to capture old VHS footage for new productions or upload to YouTube. Used to be hundreds of $$ & a specially built PC to do this--now this little cheap box does it. Great!

This is probably an ok product. I had to return it due to it not being recognized by my Pinnacle Studio 16 Ultimate software. When hooking up this device and clicking on "import" on studio, it didn't show this device so I couldn't do a direct import into my studio software. Also, the connection software that gets installed scares me a little because it always seems to be running, even when I wasn't using the device.

I've just now gotten it working after sitting at my computer for two hours. I am not some computer newbie who doesn't know what they're doing. I use a variety of software and just got done using several different digital video editors. But I needed something to get some of my MiniDV tapes onto my computer, and fast, so I chose this. Long story short, after two hours of failing to get it working on my own, not being able to reach tech support, installing, re-installing, re-starting, etc., I found a casual reference on page 6 of their help forums from someone saying that the software might not be compatible with the hardware even though they came in the same box. What?? My Video 2 PC hardware, which is apparently discontinued if the box doesn't say something like MKII, included a CD of the latest and greatest software, which does not work with the hardware in the box. The h/w would not and could not see my camcorder because of it. I finally found a link to download the old, discontinued software, and within 10 minutes I am now recording my old tapes on my computer. What company combines discontinued hardware with new, incompatible software in the same box?? Ridiculous. They would get 1* if not for the fact I got it working, and it would be a 5* product if the company actually gave a darn, but as it is, what a stinking headache. So be forewarned you might be buying a discontinued product that doesn't work with everything else you're being given.

Warning: Does not work in Windows 8!

I bought this to convert old analog videos to digital format using old laptop running Vista SP2. It worked OK, although old computer with 4G ram groaned under load and eventually crashed. Upgraded to new computer with Windows 8. Power director software which is included with device or similar upgraded software included on computer (Power Director 10) does NOT recognize device for video capture.
Manufacturer (ION) is aware of problem, but has no idea if and when they will create new drivers, which they believe is the problem.

i purchased this 2 days ago and everything installed with out problems and setup was easy but when capturing a long video a error comes up 1/2 way into it saying its copyrighted and cannot be completed and these are home videos made by myself. wasted a few hours capturing only to not complete the videos. also with the software included & Roxio Creator NXT Pro the video signal losing connection and stops displaying the video. not sure where that issue originates from but pretty sure it has to do with the video to usb thing. anyways other then them issues it does its job like it should. might be returning it tho due to the copyrighted error error.
