In general this does what I needed it to do. BUT..after I purchased this I had to get new drivers for it and I had issues using the include software and had to download more. It was tedious as best. Also for some reason after using it several times I need to reboot my computer to continue reusing it. It does allow me to capture the videos that I want to capture but it just seems like this should be a little bit easier.

Since a lot of laptops don't have fire wire connections one of the other ways out of a camcorder is through the composite video output. ION video 2 pc has a composite out to USB thank God...! Just remember that you have to install the Power Director software from the c.d.to make the computer recognize the ION 2 video 2 pc interface.

I've been looking for months for an easy way to transfer my old VHS video to DVD via computer. I'd purchased several other products and nothing worked quite like I needed it to. All required me to pop open the computer tower and install the hardware, which is always a pain. The Ion Audio-Video 2 PC Digital Video Converter-VIDEO2PC, however, was so simple! Totally external, it came with everything I needed (no need to rush out and buy cables and cords), plugged one end to the VCR, the other to this wonderful converter, plugged in the USB cord and Voila! The software it came with is excessively simple and user-friendly. I wish I'd purchased this one first. Great product, and well worth the price!

I was trying to capture video from my deceased father's old 8mm camcorder. I purchased 4 different products, and this was the only one that didn't give me any problems. It's half the cost of some of it's competitors, and does the job just fine. There was a couple of times that Cyberlink PowerDirector told the me device disconnected, but then it automatically reconnected, but this was never while capturing. It worked great for me.

I needed to transfer som programs from my DVR to a DVD and before spending 120-190 dollars in a DVD writer, I looked at a video to USB converter, in the past I had used Pinnacle Studio's Dazzle which worked great; unfortunately I could not find an equivalent for my Macbook Pro until I came across this product, for $50 I'm all set, the quality is acceptable, mainly if using S-Video, I read some complaints regarding the audio, but I had no problems with it, the software allows for a lot of customization.

You must READ the Instructions . ADD PC DRIVER first from disk than Install software. Must check the source input also.

Wasted my time and money trying to install on windows 10, had to call tech support phone line and after 15 minutes was informed this is not windows 10 friendly, that I would have to pay for upgraded Cyberlink Software. The box is marked HD and for windows 10! Matt from ion support was honest with me and admitted the hardware was good but I would have to pay for software upgrade. THIS IS JUNK, DON'T BUY!

I was happy with the picture conversion from old VHS tapes, but there was a lot of popping in the sound playback. This was not due to connections, it was the same when the unit was attached to the computer with no video cables used.

This is my 3rd product from Ion Audio, now I have the full set for EZ video converter software whenever I want convert my vinyl records, cassette tapes and digital videos. Finally an easy device that works well installed on my computer just like that!

I needed to convert some film over to digital copies. This product worked well for the job.

In no tech guy so I tried using it to transfer old 8mm tapes to DVD and was just too confusing for me... So I returned it...

I bought the product even after I read all the negative reviews that I saw. I thought that the software was very Easy to install with Windows 8. I thought that the porduct worked well and the editing software was easy to use. I would highly recommend this product to anyone.

Need to get video off a VCR or DVD player, hook it up and get to ripping. It worked fine for me.

this is a Piece of junk you will return it doesnt work with Video Cameras i only got it to work with a DVD player but i could not have the Sound cable plugged in due to the Loud Static noise i would get from the poor quality of this product the Yellow video cable input was so off i couldnt easly plug a video cable into it ION audio needs to get some quality control DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR AND DONT BUY THIS

I tried, I really did. I went to the ION website and downloaded the most current drivers. I followed the ION troubleshooting tips. I contacted their customer support. The unit never worked and was returned to Best Buy.
