Only can use for my window and not dashboard

The instructions were clear & simple but the pad that has to be put on the dash wouldn’t stick. My dashboard is clean and I literally took it out the box and placed it where I wanted. Didn’t want it on my window but I will try to find another because my phone gets hot from the sun.
