A: Yes you can rotate it.

Q: Is it easy to remove once attached to the windshield? Does it leave a residue when removed?
A: It can be a little tough to remove from the windshield but if you take your time and remain patient, it will come off with little to no problem. There may be a light ring of "residue" left on the windshield but it is easily cleanable with a glass/window cleaner. if you haven't already, purchase this mount for your phone.

Q: Will this hold an iPhone xs max with a case that has a pop socket on it?
A: I have an I-Phone 7 in a case with a pop socket towards the bottom of the case. I have no problem using the mount, but I did have to turn the phone holder portion upside down as there is a rest meant to be at the bottom edge of the phone. The rest won't allow the mounts arms to grab the phone properly. With the rest flipped to the top side, my pop socket doesn't interfere with the arms being able to hold the phone. Even without the rest, my phone is very secure in the mount.
Q: Will this hold my iPhone XS Max?
A: Yes it can. It opens pretty wide and has a real solid grip on the phone, even with a case. I will say if you have a case and like a pop socket on it it has a bit of trouble, but otherwise it will hold with no issues.
