I thought I was upgrading from the J5 which I wrongfully received when I ordered a J7. However this robot works much worse it’s inferior. Now 3 days in a row it didn’t make it back to it’s charger and it does not empty itself. (I only saw it empty itself 2 times so far. The upgraded app that came with it is also inferior and poorly designed, not helpful at all. Will return it.

Pretty good robot

The floors are generally a hot mess and they are hard to keep up with in my busy life. Since this is a multi-purpose floor cleaner I figured I could potentially have my hardwoods and rugs tidied up. I was initially impressed by the Roomba 105 because of a few key features. I did not like keeping up with my old floor vacuum's dust bin. The fact that this unit will empty its own bin out was a major selling point to me. I also was curious about how well the LiDAR would function in my home since I have a ton of cat and kid stuff all over my floors. Would it just suck everything up or would it work around it intelligently. The quality of the entire setup is what I expected. The base/dock is stable and feels sturdy. I wouldn't expect a high-end feel from either the base or the vacuum. All the "consumable" parts such as the vacuum roller, mop, edge sweeper all felt well constructed and sturdy. It's a sturdy unit. The main user functionality comes from the app. Setup was easy and pairing with the vacuum was simple. The app allows for you to control when the vacuum cycle runs. A cool feature of the app I was able to see where the vacuum was in relation to my home. Oh another cool feature is that you can set “keep out” zones. So if my kid’s room is an absolute hot mess I can keep the vacuum from going anywhere near that war zone. As a vacuum it works well. I was pleased to come home to see that my main living spaces were vacuumed up. It was able to pick up small cat hair and the bigger chunks of food leftover on the floor by the small monsters. It did get closer to my baseboards than my previous vacuum. I don’t know how the technology works but I did see that the vacuum could detect dirty spots. It would go over the same spot a few times to make sure the spot was super clean. I wasn’t really impressed by the sensing of smaller objects. The vacuum would roll over kids toys that may have been missed by my initial clean up before the vacuum ran. If there was anything that was low profile like a block it would run it over. I kind of assumed that the front bumper would be more sensitive after all these years. I would find a few objects like our house shoes or cat bowls askew. I thought it would be able to detect those things since they were larger. Overall, it is a welcomed edition to our household. While there are things that I wish it did better like navigating around smaller object it still met my expectations.

Noise and lack of attention

I looked for help and no one wanted to advise me, I talked to the manager and I returned it. I got excited with the vacuum to change mine and they didn't know how to give me the best information either! This one is very noisy compared to the one I had. In short, one cannot count on advice in the store and buy without security

DONT BUY THIS VAC!

Worse one ever

The front roller cant come off so it just bunches up inside the wheel. Not happy with my last iRobot vs my prev ones, all the ones before were better, this one is like my first one when it comes to pick up and maint.

It didn't clean good even in the deep cleaning mode. I didn't like that if it was in Vac and Mop mode it would skip the rugs, I wanted it to do both. I returned it unfortunately.

IROBOT'S ROOMBA COMBO 105 A TIME-SAVER
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was anxious to get this all-in-one unit that vacuums, mops, and collects the water and dirt in separate receptacles for easy disposal. The unit was easy to setup; the hard part was deciding where to put it in my home, since I would like it to clean the entire main floor, but our bedroom suite is "2 steps down". I decided to be selfish, and use for our large master suite. its quiet and does a pretty good job of keeping the flooring clean, as most of our suite is travertine. The vacuum is thorough and dumps the picked dirt regularly and I like being able to adjust the suction power as needed. The mop seems to do a good job too, but I'm cautious that it doesn't get the floor too wet due to a potential slipping issue. As with vacuuming, I like being able to adjust the amount of cleaning solution put on the pad. I like the option of being able to choose vacuum only, mop only or a combo of both. I think I prefer the "only options" better, that way I can track where it's either vacuuming OR mopping, as I'm concerned about getting my wool area rug wet. So far, so good. The mop's cleaning pad is easy to clean The app was intuitive and easy to use and program the ROOMBA. I liked the LiDAR was pretty accurate and repeatable. The ROOMBA knew where it was and where to resume at if it had to return to the base system to dump dirt of refresh the pad. You can use the ROOMBA via voice commands through Google, etc. However, we're not into using VOICE and talking to the "air" so programming ROOMBA with the app and accessing changes that way was more comfortable. Overall, I think the ROOMBA 105 COMBO is a greatq timesaver for us old folks, and I would highly recommend to everyone.

Probably the best robot vac I've used

After years of upgrading (and also testing) robotic vacuums, I'm always left most impressed with iRobot's Roomba offerings. The model 105 has left me even more impressed with its smarts in cleaning, with both the vacuum and the mop modes, on pretty much any surface (I tested vacuuming on high and low pile carpet, tile, and hardwood and mopping on tile). Connectivity with smart home platforms is also top notch. Setup: Unboxing is simple enough when it comes to pulling everything out. You'll find the vacuum itself, the base with its automated dirt collection bin, and a mopping attachment. You'll want to not add the mop pad when you initially set the device up, as you'll get an error about the mop pad in the app. Mapping, speaking of, is very quick - my 1300 square feet of main floor space was mapped in a matter of 15 minutes. The only real times you have to handle the device are when you're adding water or cleaning solution for the mop, when you're changing/cleaning mop pads, and when you're doing maintenance for the brush rolls and filters, otherwise it's pretty much set it and forget it. In terms of the app, you'll need an iRobot account, and you'll likely want to pair the account to Google or Alexa if you have Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa-based smart speakers. Once paired, you can tell the Roomba to vacuum the whole house or just a room, and also mop the whole house or just a room; if you're wanting it to stop, just tell your smart speaker to send the Roomba home. Usage: It's quiet. It's decently quick, and - again - it's quiet. While I wouldn't have it running in an office while working from home, it's quiet enough where it won't wake you at night if you're on the second floor or it happens to be working in your basement. The dust collection feature of the charging base is about the same volume level as a typical vacuum, so keep that in mind for your placement. The one thing that surprised me the most is it was smart enough to not get stuck behind furniture. The LiDAR sensor (how it sees the world) can see couches, chairs, and open appliance doors its too tall to fit under and avoids them. I did purposely have it suck something up that would jam inside its beater bar to see what would happen. Some other brands of robot vacuums I've owned in the past would go until they either broke or ran out of battery, while this Roomba just went back to its dock and alerted me in-app about the issue. That was a definite improvement for me versus finding the robot just laying around or busted. If I were going to complain about anything with this device, it would be that there's no mute that I've found for the on-device voice prompts. I also haven't seen where the dust collection bin has a timer of when it will and won't run, but that hasn't been an issue for me. All in all, the Roomba 105 is a powerful little cleaning robot that I'd highly recommend for anyone who wants a robot vacuum to keep small to medium spaces clean. I don't know if I could recommend it for those with pets as I wasn't able to test that ability, but I find that for myself and my family, it's a definite win in fighting the battle of keeping the house clean.

Roomba is BACK — and Better Than Ever!

Better features, smarter tech, more value for the money… I eventually moved on. But when I saw that Roomba completely overhauled their lineup recently, I figured it was time to give them another shot. I picked up the Combo 105, and I’ve got to say… I’m seriously impressed. From setup to performance, everything just works. The new design is much sleeker than the older models I used to have, and the vacuum/mop combo is surprisingly solid. The app is fairly polished compared to others I’ve had (but I expected a bit more from iRobot) and very easy to use too. My floors look great, and it navigates way more intelligently now thanks to the LiDAR. No more random bumper car behavior - it actually covers the whole area methodically, and with no issues so far! I didn’t expect much from the mop feature (especially since the pad doesn’t rotate or scrub), but it ended up being a nice surprise. It’s not a deep cleaner, obviously, but it keeps the floors feeling fresh between mopping days, and for something at this price, that’s more than enough. What really stood out to me, though, is how quiet and efficient this thing is. It doesn’t get stuck, it handles pet hair and crumbs well, and it runs like it knows what it’s doing. Honestly, I’m so happy with it that I’m already planning to get the Combo 405 for my second floor. If this is what the “new Roomba” looks like, I’m hopeful they’re on track for a real comeback. They’ve finally caught up to the competition… and if they keep this momentum going, they might just reclaim the top spot.
