If you like dark carpets/rugs: Do Not Buy!

Doesn’t clean any surfaces that are black or dark grey. Huge let down, we reached out for support and got no help. I don’t understand how a huge company can have such a fatal flaw on a machine that is meant to clean the floor and make your life easier. This was supposed to be an upgrade from our Shark roomba, but we found ourselves having to hunt it down because it was always getting stuck with error codes (4-6 per run). We returned and bought a new shark roomba, it cleans just as good and actually goes on dark surfaces, best part is I don’t have to baby sit it, it never gets stuck! 10/10 recommend getting a Shark, 0/10 for the IRobot. Hope this helps someone save their money!

Worked well for 5 months, then would only run in a circle with one wheel immobilized. Not usable after that.

Worst Roomba vac ever! Don’t buy this model. It doesn’t pick anything up! Just pushes everything around. Useless machine. I bought it to replace my old one that died. Terrible choice. I returned it right away.

    Rumba with IRobot Roomba

First of all, the set up is very easy. The app was a quick easy download and one doesn't need to be tech savvy to set it up. All you need is to know your internet password. You get to name your Roomba as well, I named mine Irving. The charging station just needs to be on the floor next to a wall with enough room in front of it for the Roomba to maneuver. So now you've downloaded the app, synced the Roomba and charged it up. What next? Well, now the fun begins. See, Irv's home is a church office right now as we are too small for a regular custodian but we have enough people who are in and out of the office that the floor can get pretty messy over the course of a week. So, I put Irv to work. And boy did he work. He picked up everything, even all those confetti-like circles from a 3-hole punch that someone dumped when they tried to empty it. Those are incredibly difficult to get up but Irv worked until he did it. He did get a bit hung up at the conference table but we just went ahead and moved a couple of chairs and he was fine. He did make a break for it and escaped the office when someone came in and didn't shut the door. It was then we learned that he really does not like stairs and just turned away when he came to them and went the other way. The only problem I encountered was one you probably wouldn't experience in a home -- being too far from the internet signal. Now Irv continued working, I just couldn't call him back or direct him when he got too far away. Oh yea, he does find his way home and docks himself to recharge. You can call your Roomba home or it does it itself when the charge gets low. You can also program a schedule for it as well along with where you want it to vacuum. You can pause it in the program as well. One thing I noticed, whether it is my imagination or Irving learning, each time Irving has found his way home, he gets better at avoiding a path that will lead him to obstacles, such as conference chairs. In fact, today he completely avoided everything and pretty much made a beeline for the charger. We love having Irving as a new member of our staff.

    Nice Entry Level Robot Vacuum

I called this vacuum an entry level robot for only one reason, and that is its lacking the mapping feature of the higher level ones from iRobot. For our open living room we really don't need that feature so its perfect. The vacuum goes out on a mission for about an hour wandering around the room looking for dirt. So far it has only gotten stuck once and that was on its first cleaning it tried to get under the rocking chair. It seems to have learned its lesson and remembered that object as it has not tried it again. The vacuum is very quiet in my opinion which is great because it can run even when the kids are asleep. The quiet running does not sacrifice any performance though. Each time its ran, its picked up plenty of dirt and the carpet looks great. The bin should be emptied each time its ran but is easy to pull out the back side of the unit to empty. The brush and roller are also easily accessible to check and remove to free any items that might have wound around them. The app does give you the ability to run shorter cycles and gives you updates on when the vacuum has returned home or is stuck and needs your attention. The communication between the app through wifi to the vacuum is instant. Overall, this is a great entry level robot and I would not hesitate to recommend it.
