Roomba is great in terms of handsfree cleaning, scheduling, etc... my only issue is it does it in random which results to missing spots on the floor. It could have been better if there is a way to control it via mobile app.

My first foray into the robot vaccuum market is iRobot's Roomba 890, and it is an excellent option for my home needs. Used mainly in the living room/dining room/kitchen area, the 890 is smaller than I expected and short enough to get underneath all of my furniture. On the hardwood and kitchen porcelain tile, it is somewhat louder than I had hoped, but on the area rug it is whisper quiet. Connecting with the recommended iRobot app is simple though spotty at times when encountering errors - I would have liked to have a separate remote to control the device, and other household users will have to manually press the "Clean" button on the Roomba at the charging station to get it going. I was, however, able to quickly connect it to Amazon's Alexa for voice activation, so if this is an option in your household, it is a definite plus. Once on the move, it does all the things you should expect: consistent, impressive dirt pickup; careful mobility near the staircase; impressive battery life and charge awareness; constant device state notification; and reliable self-returning. All the benefits of a robot vacuum are showcased in this little cleaning machine. The 890's dirt compartment filled up quite fast for me and required numerous stoppage and waste disposal notifications, which was a little bit of a turnoff - maybe it won't need as much attention after a more consistent cleaning schedule, but with a long-haired cat roaming my house, I expect my device will fill more quickly than a petless household. I was able to create a cleaning schedule for the device when I am not at home so it wouldn't be a distraction, and activating the Roomba away from home was a cinch, but I do worry about the quick waste fill during these away hours. That being said, the device is easy to clean and troubleshoot (the app also provides a short video for these tasks). The 890 is packed with an extra filter for future use and also a virtual wall device which I set up next to the cat's food area to avoid water or food bowl spillage. Despite a few minor issues, the Roomba 890 met all of my expectations. While easy to setup and forget, there is a slight, aesthetic joy in watching it perform its tasks (the future!). While it may note have the bells and whistles of some of the more expensive robot vacs, the Roomba 890 is a solid option and is highly recommended. difficult to charge for me. I can't seem to get it to hook up. The slightest bump disconnects it from the base. Also, having poor technical skills makes it hard to program.

Everyday I come home to a vacuumed floor. And I didn’t do a thing!
