I like it, but it bumps into things pretty hard. It also didn't keep from falling into a sliding glass door track twice so far. It should handle that like a step down. And it went up over a 3/4 inch platform for a counter stool. So don't leave it alone.

Really disappointed with how well it cleans. My 680 Roomba cleaned much better. The dust receptacle is 1/4 of the size the 680 was. I think it's should not be sold without the added emptying station and maybe it would perform better. But it's not saying it's full and not picking up the dirt like the earlier models... Really disappointed. My 680 had a problem, extended warranty but not made = get credit for your original purchase to use for something else... Don't buy this model without the emptying station if you buy it at all. I wouldn't.

I love the concept but the vacumen would not obey commands. It did not return to the home base when home button was pushed. It only vacuumed about 15 feet and then would spin around in the middle of the floor. It cost too much not to perform correctly

I have owned a lot of Roombas and returned them all because they were basically dumb robots. I purchased a Neato which are very intelligent and do a great job of vacuuming , but after 3 months you start getting error codes that are all software related that Neato fails to fix but keeps pumping out new bots inspite of this, I had to return them 5 times in 8 months, not to mention they have no repair shop after warranty expires and awful customer service. I returned all those as well even though I hated to because I did love its performance and intelligence. So finally IRobot decides to implement some of the technology that the Neato and other robots started years ago, hence my 4 star rating. IRobot has great customer service, and repair after the warranty runs out, so this is the PRICE you have to pay for that, which is pretty steep. Im happy that the Roomba 980 vacuums In straight lines, remembers where its been, and recharges and leaves again to finish the job if the battery ran low during the cleaning cycle. However!!! with the Roomba set to automatically switch to high gear on carpet, it only vacuums my 1900sq ft level for 45 minutes (which is comparable to the Neato when I had it, and my carpet is in the living room only, which is about 12 x 15 medium pile thick) it does recharge and continues where it left off. BUT this is where the real disappointment comes in, it DOESNT stay in one room and move to the next like the Neato, and it DOESNT work with the lighthouses from the 800 series to keep it in one room and then move to the next. For this price I expected to have this. It does vacuum very well. But without those two features I couldn't decide if I wanted to keep it for this price. However, I am sure that IRobot will come out with an update to fix this instead of producing another Roomba that will do this. In fact, if they come out with a new Roomba that will do this at a steeper price instead of updating this 980 to do it, I will never buy another IRobot product, im tired of playing the game. So as of now I am keeping it, as it does perform very well. I have only had it 3 days so I will update if it starts throwing error codes in the next couple months.

Just moved into a new construction home and we ran this over our floor. Some wood panels were settling however running out roomba messed our NEW wooden floor

I got the most expensive model thinking that it'll be great! To my disappointment, it just stops anywhere and doesn't go back to its base. Maybe it's confused or something.

My roomba has problems finding the base. I find it in the middle of the floor all my of the time.

We like the fact the machine picks up some of the pet hair but it misses too much area in each room.

2020. Its a good device but getting old with the features. For the price I rather go with the latest models.

The first few days were great. Then we started running into errors, mostly to empty the trash bin even when it was empty. Then it refused to return to home. Now it has an error to empty trash that will not clear. WE are likely going to have to spend some time with Tech support. IT is well made and seems to be easy to figure out, I purchased it to save time though, not spend hours on the phone with tech support or troubleshooting errors.

I was up at my local BBY for Black Friday Christmas specials looking at TV's when the wife spotted the iRobot Roomba. The associate in appliances was very helpful and went over the one different features of each but said they were out of stock at least on the floor. He went to the back and found the last one the Roomba 980 which is the one we wanted. We have 5 dogs and 2 children so our hardwood floors get very dirty and fast within a day covered in soil and dog hair. We decided to put the roomba to the test on this dirty floor. It was fully charged within 30 minutes and off it went. The dogs went nutz over it and now so have we. This product is amazing and real life changer. No more Dirty floors again. We set up our time do a quick walk through making sure no socks, towels etc laying on the floor prior to going to work and school and when we come home nice clean floors. The phone alerts are very nice mapping where it has cleaned and the distance traveled and any other alerts such as empty the bin and low battery. Its nice that when the battery gets low it docks itself to charge and then completes the job. It has only had to redock and charge if we are letting it clean the entire house, 2200 sf. However, it does it all in one charge on the Family Room, Hallway, Entry, Dinning Room, Kitchen, Breakfast, Primary Bedroom. So far so good and we picked up the 4 year warranty from the Geek Squad which was a nice bonus as nobody else we looked later offered 4 years some no warranty at all. Thanks it iRobot and Best Buy...Great Product.

The roomba 980 is an interesting gadget, It just doesn’t work very well. First of all, if you have carpet this will be of no use to you. I have only a few area rugs and even they pose a problem. The issue is that the trap fills with carpet fibers very quickly, and then stops running. I have run the roomba more than a dozen times. On only three occasions was it able to complete it’s cleaning assignment. The dirt trap is a hassle to clean, and requires that you reach your fingers inside to remove the dust, dirt, and fibers. Any wires on the floor or along the walls need to be moved. You must do a pre cleaning just to make sure there is no paper or anything on the floor that might clog the trap. Frankly, it’s less hassle to just use a vacuum cleaner every day. My roomba, after less than a month, has been consigned to the closet. This would work well in a well cleaned, wide open space with no rugs, carpet, or electronics. It just isn’t ready for real life cleaning scenarios.

Save cash and get the non-wifi version. Firmware updates for this unit consistently failed despite hours online with tech support. Firmware version as shipped does not support cleaning maps. Navigation back to base is spotty.

Cost too much but does what its supposed to usually. Had battery issues with 2 of them.

I am so disappointed I wasted $800 on this. I wanted one for so long and got talked into it by a friend. I have hardwood floors in all of my house except one bedroom with carpet, and a large low pile rug in my living room. The Roomba does fine on my wood floors, but it gets stuck CONSTANTLY getting up onto my low pile rug. I can't even fathom this, is ridiculous. It doesn't pick up well on my carpeted bedroom either. The little twirlies in the front to get into the corners hasn't worked since the first few weeks I've had it. It makes me sick to my stomach I bought this. I tried to return it and it was passed the deadline of 15 days for electronics with BB, so I shot myself in the foot on that. I have since purchased two other vacuums that I use, and this just sits there and collects dust, literally.

It vacuumed pretty good but it's spits hairball here and there as vacuuming .

I get very little run time on the battery, any where from 45 to 75 minutes

I had nothing but problems trying to get this overpriced piece of junk to work properly. People who gave all the 5 star reviews must live in one room apartments with no furniture. Not worth $8.99 much less $899.00. Don't waste your money or time.

Battery life sucks. It takes 3-4 charge cycles to clean a 2500 sq ft home

The product is wonderful. I am a fan. But almost a year to the date It doesn’t work. It keeps repeating the same error after I have cleaned it. Clear room as debri extractors. This is after about two minutes once it starts Help! This is the 2nd roomba I have purchased.
