My wife wanted a robot vacuum but I was skeptical. We watched many video reviews on YouTube and read reviews other places. After much research we thought we would try the Roomba i7. It was entertaining to watch the i7 go on its way learning the layout of the house and the dog wanting to attack it and make sure it wasn't doing anything bad. Once you install the app on your phone, the app will update the i7. The i7 seems to run very well and picks up dirt and debris on many surfaces; we have tile in all three of our bathrooms, high cut pile carpeting in the bedrooms and wood flooring throughout the rest of the house with different thicknesses of rugs here and there. The i7 senses furniture bases and legs by lightly bumping and slowly approaching with sometimes a light touch; this model senses light (it does havea problem in very dark rooms) and objects in its way. You can tell it to vacuum the whole house or just parts of the house (after it has learned your home's layout) using the iRobot app on your phone. A small battery operated virtual barrier device is included in case you want the i7 to avoid the entrance to a room or a circled zone in a room somewhere. As the i7 is performing its duties, in our house, it will need to go back to its home base to charge. It will notify you via the app on your phone if it is charging or if the dust chamber and sensors need to be emptied or cleaned. You can schedule cleaning times on a calendar in the app or just tell it to start cleaning with the app. On the i7 you can touch the CLEAN button twice to make it start cleaning and touch the House/Home button to return home to its charging base. This device is great and we really haven't used our regular vacuum cleaner much at all except for cleaning furniture with crevice tool. The i7 is very convenient and it makes nice vacuum lines in the carpet.

I'm happy with this iRobot. There are pluses and minuses from my older one: Pluses: Mapping - I's great to have mapping on this and be able to mark areas to avoid (like where I have power cables, etc); you can also select which comes to do in order Ability to have Bravva run behind it - We have the bravva and to schedule both at the same time is a plus Dog hair does not get caught in the rollers Minuses: Small bin - My old unit had a much larger bin; hover this unit can be purchased with the automatic bin. Too much IMO. Dog Hair - I have a thin run in my office and when the robot transitions from hardwood to my rug any dog hair its rollers is scrapped off at the rug edge and left there Less battery life - to do my first floor it takes the unit multiple trips to the charger to complete the job

We have had an N79 deebot for about 3 years, $179. The deebot was random, quiet, and had a bin thrice the size of the I7. We got the I7 and M6 for 1000 sq foot of hardwood floors, 4 kids, 110 lb yellow lab. we do not use it on carpeted areas. Pros- it maps out the house, so it is thorough. Works very well. It should work with the m6 braava mop. Once they finish mapping the house out I hope that will improve. Should be able to pick rooms after the 5th time it sweeps, still smart mapping this would probably work on carpeted areas, no way was our deebot doing carpet Cons- the very small bin needs emptied every time, our deebot was about 3 times larger. We vacuum daily, it holds about a cup of debris. It is loud, you have to turn the tv up quite a bit. Its loud, and needs to be emptied each time, holds about a cup of debris. Very thourough. Works well on our 1000 feet of hardwood floors for dog hair and crumbs form the kids breakfast. It would probably do more that is just all we need it for. if someone had 1000 ft or less of hard floors they could probably do a cheaper version.

To explain - I've had 3 different robot vacuums - well, technically 4 - before this Roomba. Started out with an Ecovacs Deebot N79. It was good - cleaned well - rambled all over the place, then failed after 7 months. Ecovacs replaced it. I used it for a while then there was a great deal on the updated version, the N79S. Gave the N79 to my daughter then IT failed. Good grief. No warranty support on that one. So I read the Consumer Reports reviews and purchased a Eufy 30C - a bit pricier, but the reviewers raved about it. Gave the N79S to my daughter. I have to tell you, the Eufy is a HUGE disappointment. Gets tangled in everything, doesn't make it back to the charger, doesn't pick up as much dirt as the Ecovacs. Now the other N79S has failed but Ecovacs is replacing it. So I gave the Eufy to my daughter for her second floor, and bit the bullet and bought this Roomba. I've only had it a day, but after 2 sessions I'm already blown away. It is systematic - you can see the grid and the fact that it's mapping - it picks up a lot of dirt - it has made it back to the charging station both times out, and it's not a "wandering search"...no, it makes a bee line straight to the charging station. Sure, it's pricier, but you get what you pay for. Only negative - it's NOISY compared to the Ecovacs and the Eufy, but I can live with the noise to not have to deal with the other frustrations. Do yourself a favor and skip the cheaper products...you'll end up buying this eventually and you can save money in the process.

Been really happy with this so far. We had an earlier roomba years ago and it was a lot of maintenance with a cat and dog. This is easy to clean the brushes when it tells you it needs it. Bin is easy to empty and clean when asked. Wished we had gotten the big bin for it to empty itself as this thing is picking up the dirt and hair! We will likely add it. Only thing is we do get the clumps of dog hair left after the vacuum goes thru an area where our Bernese mountain dog hangs out. I’m running after it to clean those up. I’m hoping that stops as we run it more often. Mapping and then marking the no fly zones has been great instead of buying virtual walls like we had to before. A little tricky setting up the rooms after the mapping because of our open floor plan.

I’m so glad I got it! Goes around my 2/2 apartment and helps me clean up while I’m doing other chores or while I work remotely. Goes back and recharges by itself. I can see what areas it’s been on the app. At first, the training could take a couple of hours for the mapping to be accurate and completely cover all areas, but worth it. I specifically notice it picks up a lot of dirt and fuzzy material in the carpeted bedrooms. I shed more hair than my own hypoallergenic dog and Roomba picks all the loose strands around the house, especially where you can see them - on the tile floors. Priceless. I personally barely use the broom and pan anymore, but when I do broom the corners, I make a pile and leave it for Roomba to pick it up. And she does! Highly recommend.

This is a bit of a comparison review. I bought a Roomba 960 and a 675 for Christmas. Let me start by saying that I have hardwood floors with area rugs in most areas where the Roomas will clean. The 675 was for a 20x20 room that was separated by a step. I was going to have the 960 cover the rest of the first floor (about 750sq ft.). The 675 does a good job but it takes about an hour fifteen minutes to do that whole room and it wanders through it until it is about out of battery and then completes and docks. It did not get hung up on any of the area rugs. The 960 kept hitting the corners of the areas rugs and getting caught up and had to be freed. The main room is rectangular but it kept approaching it like it was shading a rectangle and that was primarily why it would catch the area rug corners. Very frustrating because it cleaned well. Took it back to BB and spoke with the manager about the issues and he talked me into the i7. Took that back home and set it up. The first thing you should do is have it do training runs until it learns your floor plan. This will let it be the most efficient when cleaning. Once that is done you can use the room dividers in the Smart Maps feature to separate your rooms and then choose which rooms to have it clean. That was most efficient for me because the one big limitation on the i7 is the waste bin is small and gets full fast. That's why they want the extra $200 for the i7+ with the clean base. You can mange with the small bin if it doesn't fill too fast for your cleaning needs. I have it clean about 450sq ft. of area rug and hardwood before it fills and it takes about 45 minutes to clean that space. The 960 would take about twice that long to clean that same space and I would have to watch it to make sure it did not get hung up. I now run the i7 on schedule in the early morning (while I'm in bed) to clean that space and manually run it for the other rooms. To summarize: Pros: -Smart navigation works well and makes for more efficient cleaning pattern and shorter cleaning times compared to other lower end Roomba's -Quieter than other Roomba's -Cleans well -Smart Maps can make for smaller targeted cleaning jobs -Four stars due to price. Five stars if you ignore the cost. Cons: -A bit pricey (but all top line robot vacuums are) especially if you add the clean base with i7+ -Waste bin is smallest in the Roomba line and can fill fast -Pricey add-on for the Clean Base if you wanted to overcome the small waste bin.

We are loving this i7 Roomba cleans great when we need it to. We have it on a weekly schedule to clean on Wednesdays and spot clean doorways on Saturdays. We didn't buy the options bay to clean the bag within the Roomba and we have it to stop when it full so it stops a lot for cleaning. But there are items and dusk inside to clean it is justified. There is an option to continue cleaning when the bin is full but we choose to stop it until cleaned so it does not drag around too much dust. This Roomba will stop charging if you have a larger home to recharge and then continue again when it is full enough to finish. Learning the home in two days and we run it once in a while just to keep it update with small stuff moving around within the house.

We were debating on the next model down that didn't have the floor plan mapping and able to vacuum specific rooms. It was totally worth the extra $100 to get this version in my opinion. It hasn't got stuck on much of anything (kids toy here in there, our fault!) in our home. It has gone up and over a carpet to wood floor transition very easily. The only downside is how small the trash/dust bin is. If you have an overly dirty floor (say, after a party or something), it may not finish in one fill and have to go "home" and wait for you. I'm not sure that's worth the extra $200 for the auto bin emptying system though. I'd buy another one of these for sure! It's only 4 stars because of the small dust bin, otherwise, it's probably like 4.75 stars for me.

If you’re thinking about it, just go for it. You won’t be disappointed. The cleaning is superb, the app even better. You can set schedules for cleaning. After a few cleans (or running a training session), this will map your house, at which point you can go fine tune and rename each room. Then you can tell the vacuum to clean a certain room only if desired. Also it’s Alexa enabled. Get the self cleaning bin separately or bundled with the vacuum, and it’s mostly maintenance free for up to 60 days. Pair this with the Braava robot mop and you won’t have to think about your floors. I literally just watch this thing clean sometimes. It’s detailed. It’s accurate. It will give you those nice straight lines you love to see when you’ve vacuumed your room.

It got our place mapped after 4-5 passes so we can now do room by room. The debris container seems to fill fast and needs emptying after just a couple of rooms. The disposable filter is tiny, and quickly gets full of fine dust that is hard to remove. I don't know when (if ever) or how the vacuum will signal that the filter needs to be replaced. We'll wait and see. Because it's noisy, we generally turn it on when we leave to run errands, first moving chairs, floor "decorations," and power cords out of the way to permit more efficient and complete cleaning. All in all, the i7 seems to work well and do a decent job.

After trying 3 other (cheaper) models of robot vacuums, this one finally met my expectations. It did a great job of mapping our house. It works methodically and rarely needs my assistance. It recognizes objects around it much better than the others I've tried and generally doesn't hit or try to go over things it shouldn't. I like that I can identify no-go zones in the app to avoid areas where we have cords on the floor. It works great on the carpet as well as our hard floors, and hasn't had trouble with area or throw rugs. It's also nice that I can schedule jobs and control it away from home. If I could change anything, I'd make the bin bigger.

This vacuum works much better than my push vacuum (Dyson). It picks up dirt very well. It has gotten stuck only once - although to be fair, I try hard to remove any obstacles, cords, etc. It recharges itself fine when it has large rooms to vacuum. The only issue is that it's memory blocks at 2,500 sq feet. If you have a cleaning space larger than that, it will create an error. Otherwise, I am happy to know what it has vacuumed while mapping out the space. I am working around the memory error by ensuring it has a smaller space to vacuum. I didn't purchase the plus because I wasn't going to spend an extra $200 to not empty the vacuum myself.

This is our first Robot Vacuum and before I had the handheld one. This definitely is a time saver and all the trouble you have to go through with a handheld vacuum. The suction is good, but after running this twice with two pass setting, I was still able to pick some (Minimal) dirt with the handheld vacuum. We don't have any pets. The smart mapping function is a genius. It covers the whole area and never got stuck. The battery could be improved, but it is intelligent enough to resume vacuuming after its charged. Overall I like the product and think could be improved in certain areas. It is definitely not a replacement to your handheld vacuum but, a substitute.

Just to start off, I had a previous Roomba for 12 years and I personally think this brand has been doing things right from the beginning. I had replaced batteries, brushes, filters and everything else that the vacuum wore down with time, but kept on cleaning my house as scheduled for all this time doing a pretty good job. My house is about 2500 SqFt and both my wife and I work so nobody is really in the mood to clean house when we come home, one Roomba was good enough to keep it in check. Every so often we did find the previous model stuck somewhere due to the random pattern. Then we bought a dog and I decided to upgrade to the NEW version. Found it discounted at BestBuy and purchased the I7 model. The set up was a breeze; downloaded the app on Android device, follow the instructions displayed and in a matter of minutes it was up and running. The vacuum started running around on a straight line pattern an started to "scan" the floor plan of my house. First day ran 5 hrs and 18 minutes. Went in every corner and around each piece of furniture we have (a lot of them) and went back to recharge batteries at the charging station every time navigating between chairs, corners and walls like it knew exactly where it was. I emptied out the bin at each occurrence (which it was full) as the suction power of this vacuum is unbelievably strong (compare to my old one). My house has hardwood floors and tile mostly but are covered with area rugs. I have carpets in bedrooms and the amount of dirt that the vacuum pick up is somehow astonishing. The rubber brush system is very effective compared to the conventional one (which was always tangled up with hair and fine fabric on the old one). The height of my carpet is medium. The second day, the cleaning session was under 5 hours and I emptied out another 3 bins, every time the battery was almost depleted it went back recharge and resumed the job where it has left. So far I am very impressed with the technology and the performance of this vacuum. after the 2 runs my house floor plan is 50 percent completed but on the second run it has already tracked the cleaning patterns and showed it to me on my phone at the end of the cleaning session. The only thing that I have realized that I should have purchased with the vacuum was the cleaning station (that can only be attached to this particular model because of the bin configuration ). That would have saved me from emptying out the canister at each "recharge". Unfortunately the price of the combo was a little too steep and I pulled the trigger for just the vacuum. The good thing is that the Base station comes with the modified canister for the automatic disposal included in the package should I have the chance to purchase it later on. I will revise my review once I get one.

I did a lot of research over the holidays on robot vacuums, and originally purchased the Roomba 980. What I didn't realize was that the maps on that robot aren't stored for the next time the robot cleans. Therefore, it is basically relearning the house every time it runs. With our 2000 sq ft, mainly carpeted floor, it would take almost 8 hours to complete a full cleaning as it had to re-charge several times during the process. That defeated the purpose of us not being around when the vacuum was running. The Roomba i7 remembers the map after the first few training runs or cleaning cycles. You can then use the app to actually identify different rooms in the house. Once this is done, you can have the robot only do the room you designate. We use Alexa and tell the robot to clean the kitchen, the family room, etc. A room takes between 15-45 minutes and can be done on one charge, so we just spread out the rooms over the week while we're away from the house. We didn't get the version that self-cleans its bin because it is even more expensive and then you have to add on the cost of buying the bags for the storage station.

Easy to set up. Vacuum only got hung up once while exploring the house. Does okay with rug fringes but will probably program it to avoid those areas. Was amazed at how much dirt it picked out of previously vacuumed carpeting. Great suction. Easy to empty but am considering buying the automatic emptier. Very satisfied with the quality and performance. Fascinating to watch it while it learned the floor-plan. Rated excellent on value based on sale price.

Cleans so so well. Scheduling is great because I come home to a clean house every day. For spot cleans I just say “Hey Google, tell Roomba to clean the Kitchen” and off it goes. Bin is small but always lasts a cleaning session if cleaned out prior. Might think about upgrading to the self emptying bin. Has been great for my allergies as there is no dust left in my carpet! Only downside is every so often the spinning brush goes so fast it’ll shoot large pieces of debris around on hardwood, but it usually finds it later and picks it up.

My wife and I talked about getting one of these for years and really thought we couldn’t justify the expense, they’re not cheap. We broke down and bought ourselves one for Christmas. Since Christmas morning “Pierre“ has been like a family member, sort of like a pet, but one that cleans up after himself… and us! All kidding aside, I’m glad we waited because we got a robot with laser guided smart mapping as opposed to the earlier models or the inferior brands that just run around and bump into things and never know where they have cleaned. This thing sets out on a mission after learning your house and will go just to the spots that you ask it to or schedule on a daily basis such as the hallway where there is more traffic. I had my doubts from the very beginning wondering if a very short round vacuum could have a motor inside that had power to pick it up dirt in the home when all these other expensive vacuums are huge. The answer is the Roomba picks up as good if not better than any vacuum I’ve ever owned, that’s not to mention that it does it automatically, totally hands free. You don’t even have to think about when you vacuum anymore, it just happens like magic. Sure you have to empty it more often obviously, but in our house we are finding that it goes three or four jobs before we have to empty it. Btw it won’t fall down stairs, that was another concern. With the downloaded smart phone app it tells you everything that it has a problem with such as getting stuck somewhere or needing to be emptied. Long story short; you will not be disappointed. We went out and bought the M6 Brava mop a week later, but that’s for another review, suffice it to say that “Leah” is also a family member now.

Our old Rumba finally died after daily use for 7 years so we got this new one. It’s amazing! Does a remarkable job of vacuming the floor (we have two large dogs that shed a lot) and makes accurate maps of the area. We can set it to clean just one room, or both. Forgot to start it? No problem. With the app, I start it from the bowling alley and it’s done when we get home. Great product! I only gave it 4 stars because the optional piece for emptying the bin is outrageously priced at $299. Get that piece down to a reasonable price and I give it 5 stars!
