Customers are satisfied with the Roomba i7's cleaning performance, mapping capabilities, and ease of use, frequently praising its navigation and suction power. However, some users point to the small dustbin size and relatively short battery life as drawbacks. The vacuum's noise level and high price were also mentioned as potential areas for improvement.

Purchased this little guy back in August of 2019, after absolutely loving our 860 and deciding it was time to invest in another roomba for another level of our house. The vacuum itself works pretty great! Didn't get stuck in weird spots like our 860 did on our main level, so we moved our 860 to an easier to vacuum (less furniture to get stuck on) location and made the i7 our main level vacuum. We have 1 dog and 4 cats, it kept up relatively well. However, in the same spots, everyday, no matter how often you cleaned the roomba brushrolls, it would leave little piles of fur. They were easy to pick up, nothing to complain about, and we continued to love the little guy.
Fast forward to July of 2020. The robot was starting to fail to charge. Kept a charge of about 5% (which is not enough to start or run the robot), but would never charge above that. I did all the recommended cleaning of the base connection and robot connection, reset the vacuum, and then factory reset. Nothing. So I caved, and purchased a new battery from iRobot's website. Out $100, but cheaper than a new vacuum, and we still liked the little guy, so again, nothing to complain about. The battery was super easy to install, and our little buddy was back up and running with no issue besides dropping fur bombs in the exact same locations daily.
Fast forward to a couple weeks ago (mid-October 2020). Similar issue starts occurring with the charge of the battery. This time around I'm adamant that I will not be putting another $100 into this guy. So I email iRobot. They get back pretty quick, tell me I need to remove the battery and reinstall. Ok, done. Still same problem. They say we need to talk, so I call. They say it may be the base. I admit to owning 3 roombas and ask if another base would work. They said my 860 base would be compatible (which I know works because my 860 still runs like a champ after more 3 years... and on the same battery!!). Attempt to charge the i7 that way, and no such luck. They then inform me that I have missed the manufacturer's warranty by a year and would need to pay $132 to send it in and have it repaired..... Which I assume means, they will replace it with another battery that will only last another 3 months. Soooo, I'm going to cheat on roomba and try another robot vacuum (likely shark, since we have historically loved shark). I'll keep our 860 around and happily continue to get my moneys worth on him, but it's definitely time to move on from the overpriced world of roomba.
Would I recommend? the 860 for sure! the i7, not so much.

Works well. Cleans good. Moves easily between hard floor and carpet. Not super quiet but not very loud either. Overall satisfied with the purchase.

We had a Samsung and loved it but it kept getting errors so we returned it for the iRobot. It cleans well but my only real complaints are as follows:
The bin is way too small and literally has to be emptied every time it runs, it hold barely nothing before it alerts you to empty it
It is much louder while running than our old one
Overall it gets the job done, but I really wish the bin was large enough to clean a at least twice before being emptied

This is an upgrade from my Roomba 960 that came in for warranty repair and couldn't be fixed. The i7 does a better job on carpets and has a great mapping system that lets you identify and label each room, set up clean zones and keep out zones. It is reasonably quiet, but it is still a struggle to watch TV or be on the phone with the vacuum in the same room. All in all it does a great job. I ended up purchasing a second one so I have one for each floor.

I absolutely love this vacuum. We have 2 pitbulls, one who loves to lay in the sand/dirt, a child and enjoy having people over. This vacuum runs every other day and sometimes every day. We keep up with maintenance and it has ran beautifully. Sometimes it gets lost but the app can be used to send it home and restart the job. Highly recommend this vacuum.

Just purchased it couple of weeks ago. So far it appears to be working great! I am impressed with the mapping feature. I have a bigger place with several rooms to clean. This model allows me to select which areas and rooms I want to clean more often. I really like this because there are areas that do not need cleaning as often because they are not used. It is not too loud and does a very good job cleaning and picking up debris. Even though this model is more expensive, for me it is work the difference in cost. Glad I made the purchase.

This is my 4th Roomba. This one by far has more suction power than the others. The only reason I gave a 3 because it is also louder than the others and no way to adjust the sound or turn it off. Gave 3 also because it does not always detect when the battery is getting low so it can return to base for charging like other one did.

This is my second Roomba after almost 10 years away. Love it. This little creature gets all the dust and annoying stuff as it roams about. I really like the mapping functionality and the ability to clean select rooms. On, and no more getting sorta under the couch clean...this one dives in, caring not one bit about what it may encounter in those darkened depths. After having cleaners come by every two weeks, I figure this pays for itself by the end of the summer.

Mapping models Big Improvement

Big improvement over e5 model without mapping feature and return to base charge in middle of large jobs. The e5 never finished my first floor and would randomly zig zag across the floor. The i7 took several times to complete the map but then I was able to schedule Kitchen, hallway and dinning room cleanings every other day and twice a week for other rooms. The i7 also does the same job in less than 1/3 the time with even pattern cleaning. Both models did not do a great job on cat hair from neglected cleaning, however the i7 easily keeps up with it can cleans well on twice a week schedule. It was a lot more money, but I am very glad I upgraded and now the e3 is cleaning our large one room finished basement very well, (albeit randomly).

I have several long haired dogs so to say I need to vacuum is an understatement! I have been using the iRobots since they came out many years ago and can honestly say that this new model is very impressive. It does a great job mapping the house and allowing for me to schedule custom cleaning jobs by room. I wish the cleaning bin was a bit larger but I understand where they are coming from pairing this with the automatic clean out base station. I would highly recommend this one!

I've had this for over a month now so I will review... before this I bought the irobot 675 but returned it to get this. The 675 model did not have self mapping capabilities. I returned the irobot 675 only cause my husband complained about it banging all over walls/furniture. He was right, that machine after 2 weeks was really scratched up and average run time would be 1 hr 41 mins sometimes closer to two hours. SO I decided to get the roomba i7, the only con I have about this one is that I don't feel like the suction power is as strong as the roomba 675 which is cheaper. Another con is the dustbin on the roomba i7 is HALF the size of the 675 so I have to empty it each run- sometimes twice in one run. The PROs for the roomba 7 over 675 is that this cleans way faster- average clean time is 40 mins or less- LESS than half the time it took the roomba 675 to clean. And it bumps into furniture way less. Another PRO- the rubber rollers make a world of difference. I have long hair and this machine sucks all the hair without me needing to clean any the rollers- which is a pain and time consuming if it had the 675 bristles. If you dont mind cleaning hair out the bristles or the robo vacs run time and want a budget robo vac just get the 675 and save some money... although self map is pretty cool... I just wish the i7 didn't cost so much especially with the self empty bin which costs even more upwards of $700 total.

I’ve had a roomba now for the past five years. My first was a basic one that lasted 4 years and the reason I ended upgrading was because after 4 years The roomba would not go on the base unless I picked it up. I did have insurance on it and ended up upgrading to this one!! Love how easy it is to manage. I can schedule it on the app and is very easy to clean. I can’t live without one since I have 3 dogs and a cat, this helps so much.

This item is unbelievable.. I don't know why we never considered t his before we purchased this one.. We clean 5x a week and the difference that we have seen in our home phenomenal. The UI on the APP is easy to use and makes the process easy for even the novice IT folks. Setting up the daily schedule is easy to use and once the Roomba learns the floor plan, it's smooth sailing.
Highly Recommend this product

Works good and can set the schedule thru the app. I had to go thru the mapping twice because it left out half of one of the rooms. after second mapping all was good. Once on a regular schedule the small bin is not an issue. High pile rugs can be a challenge for the vacuum to get on, so the couple I have I just shake out. Do like the mapping and naming rooms incase you have last minute company you can turn it on remotely and all done when you get home.

This was my first robot vacuum. I had high expectations. I can’t say that it met them all. The only complaints, which some have pointed out, are that it does miss some small items and it occasionally gets stuck. However, the time it saves us from manually vacuuming is unbelievable. The mapping on this is incredible. I couldn’t imagine having gone with a model that doesn’t allow me to select specific rooms to clean. I’m amazed at how much dirt is in the bin each time we run it. The living room and dining room get done daily, and all others as needed. The bin is full after every room. I did not go with the i7 with self-emptying bin, and am regretting it. On big cleaning days, I empty it several times.

Works as claimed and does a great job of cleaning. Saves time and is easy to use. You can run it manually or via Wi-Fi connection. We have bought a second one to clean the house even quicker. I highly recommend this product. We had a problem with our first one and I called the manufacturer who was able to resolve the issue within minutes. Impressive.

Works great! The i7 Has mapped our 3200 sqft home accurately and it was easy to set up cleaning zones and rooms. Our home is iRoomba friendly (single story, all tile, with area rugs), but the iRoomba has successfully assumed all vacuum duties. The cleaning robot has exceeded my expectations and we are considering adding by the mopping robot as well.

I wanted to really like this product. I just couldn’t. I have an 85lb german shepherd with tile floors and an area rug. The vacuum was great on the tile but horrible with pet hair on the area rug. It would just leave little clumps of hair on the carpet all balled up. Changing surfaces seemed to be the biggest problem with it. Going over ledges into different rooms would leave dirt and debris at the thresholds. The technology behind it though, fantastic. The app was great and the vacuum worked a pattern and mapped my house out in three uses. If you have a tile or wood floor house with no pets, this vacuum is perfect. If that isn’t your situation then this might not be the vacuum for you. It is a robot after all but the way I expected it to clean for the price of it, I expected way more. And this was also after reading the reviews and doing my research.
