Customers are satisfied with the Roomba i7's cleaning performance, mapping capabilities, and ease of use, frequently praising its navigation and suction power. However, some users point to the small dustbin size and relatively short battery life as drawbacks. The vacuum's noise level and high price were also mentioned as potential areas for improvement.

A great product with minor glitches

This is a great product. I have stopped doing my weekly two-hour vacuuming after my buddy has arrived. One thing I like to recommend is to make sure you always purchase a Roomba model which has a built-in map because you don't want the robot to clean everywhere all the time. The reason I give 3 stars is a minor glitch that will cost me a $30 replacement bin in less than 3 months of use. The white filter mesh inside the bin is very flimsy and got pulled out at the edges. Other than that I am impressed by the build quality and the self-learning navigation software that is reinforcing my faith in AI-based products that can perform recurring activities of humans effectively.

Sadly, everything about it was nice, except pet hair performance. After doing a lot of research we decided on the i7+. While the first two weeks were extremely frustrating waiting for the vacuum to learn the layout, once the learning process was done we have been extremely happy. The biggest mistake we made was being impatient and wanting to rush the learning process. Ultimately that led to having to start all over again because we started naming rooms to be able to use directed cleaning before the Smart Map matched our layout. We were more patient the second time around and while the map is not a perfect match, it's close enough that the vacuum cleans everywhere without any problems. In the 3 weeks we've had the vacuum running we have had one clog (nerf dart) and one "stuck" event. The vacuum cleans our highly used areas every day (family room, dining room, kitchen and entry) and then the bedrooms and bathrooms once each week. If we notice any particular room is dirty/dusty we will just have that room cleaned on demand, which is easy to do from the Phone app. With our schedule we never have to wait for the vacuum to recharge during the middle of a cleaning, which was an initial frustrating during the learning process. While there is definitely room for improvement with things like being able to update the Smart Map more easily after initial learning, all things considered this was a good purchase and one I would make again knowing what I know now.

pros and cons- louder than Deebot, small bin

We have had an N79 deebot for about 3 years, $179. The deebot was random, quiet, and had a bin thrice the size of the I7. We got the I7 and M6 for 1000 sq foot of hardwood floors, 4 kids, 110 lb yellow lab. we do not use it on carpeted areas. Pros- it maps out the house, so it is thorough. Works very well. It should work with the m6 braava mop. Once they finish mapping the house out I hope that will improve. Should be able to pick rooms after the 5th time it sweeps, still smart mapping this would probably work on carpeted areas, no way was our deebot doing carpet Cons- the very small bin needs emptied every time, our deebot was about 3 times larger. We vacuum daily, it holds about a cup of debris. It is loud, you have to turn the tv up quite a bit. Its loud, and needs to be emptied each time, holds about a cup of debris. Very thourough. Works well on our 1000 feet of hardwood floors for dog hair and crumbs form the kids breakfast. It would probably do more that is just all we need it for. if someone had 1000 ft or less of hard floors they could probably do a cheaper version.

    Roomba i7 is almost amazing!

3 stars because it works nicely, but you must have internet and wifi to get your money’s worth. Cleans very well. Actually picks up more than our regular vacuum. More efficient than I would have thought. Roomba i7 bumped around for the first few times then “learned” the layout of the house. What nobody will tell you is internet and wifi is required to access any settings. Without wifi all you can do is push “CLEAN” and it goes. With wifi you can set schedules, view where it’s cleaned, remote start from your phone. So not being able to access any functions is the only reason it didn’t get 5 stars. I could have gotten a $300 robot vacuum to only run while I’m standing there by it. And the 3 people I talked to in the store should have told me that when I asked. If I could find good internet way out here this robot would be amazing.

This is my 4th Roomba. This one by far has more suction power than the others. The only reason I gave a 3 because it is also louder than the others and no way to adjust the sound or turn it off. Gave 3 also because it does not always detect when the battery is getting low so it can return to base for charging like other one did.

I wanted to really like this product. I just couldn’t. I have an 85lb german shepherd with tile floors and an area rug. The vacuum was great on the tile but horrible with pet hair on the area rug. It would just leave little clumps of hair on the carpet all balled up. Changing surfaces seemed to be the biggest problem with it. Going over ledges into different rooms would leave dirt and debris at the thresholds. The technology behind it though, fantastic. The app was great and the vacuum worked a pattern and mapped my house out in three uses. If you have a tile or wood floor house with no pets, this vacuum is perfect. If that isn’t your situation then this might not be the vacuum for you. It is a robot after all but the way I expected it to clean for the price of it, I expected way more. And this was also after reading the reviews and doing my research.

It works OK but it’s very noisy and it bumps into a lot of stuff. If you have thick carpet it gets stuck and can’t get on top of it. Easy to clean. It gets in knowing when you get notifications on your phone that the vacuum gets stuck low battery or bin gets full. Or sometimes unknown air or it gets lost trying to find the docking station.

Good, but not great. You'd think these would be by far the best robot vacuums available, but the Roomba is much louder and more expensive than a much cheaper brand that we are also using. It does a good job, but really expected more from our 2nd Roomba purchase.

The Vacuum did and excellent job cleaning and did a great job even in a household with 4 dogs. The issue is that the bin is TINY and needs to be emptied two or three times cleaning just one small area of the house. It is clear that if you don't purchase the bin in which the vacuum can empty throughout the cleaning job or you will spend a lot of time emptying the bin and it makes it virtually impossible to have the job run when you aren't at home to empty the bin.

For starters, I purchased this Roomba i7 after reading some reviews and comparing iRobot models when it came to vacuuming pet hair. I have one that sheds a lot! While this model of Roomba was impressive during the first few weeks, it started to have a couple of problems, more importantly, the pickup/suction wasn't as strong as it was in the first two weeks, even after replacing the filter and cleaning it well. Therefore, I contacted iRobot support. I will say that support was great! After explaining the issue, I later received replacement brushes within 7-10 days. When that didn't resolve the problem, they asked me to video record its behavior for their review. In turn, they sent me a new cleaning module, which required taking the Roomba i7 apart. Well, even after was done, I was still not satisfied with the cleaning. It simply did not pick up the dog hairs as it did during the first two-three weeks. In turn, they sent me a new replacement Roomba i7. One of the other issues that was discovered, that wasn't mentioned on the box or documented was the 2000 sq ft limitation. It would not map or clean a section of the house. I found out from support that the vacuum has a 2000 sq ft limit. The SmartMap had to be reset several times until it finally picked up the rest of the house. Now its covering the whole house with is slightly over 2,200 sq ft. Finally, as I told iRobot support, this is a very expensive product for it to start having issues within just a short period of time. Also, I found that the brushes are not entirely rubber, they seem to be a rubber/plastic blend and wear down easily. Overall, after some further comparison reading on the internet, I believe that Samsung may have a better product and I told iRobot Support. I think I'll try a Samsung brand next time.

Basically, I have to be home when it's operating. The minute it's left alone it gets stuck on anything unsual like a tall rug. I don't think it has ever actually completed a job without help. Don't even get me started on bathroom mats.. I HIGHLY recommend getting the auto emptying bin. If you have pets it will get fill before its finished.

Had issues with connecting with WiFi and firmware update at initial purchase 10/2018. After exchanging a couple units, I got one that setup properly. It worked great for about 1.5 years, but I started to get an error where the robot kept reporting that the bin was full when it was not. This was happening every few minutes so it was frustrating to use. It got to the point where I stopped scheduling the robot to run and thought about getting rid of it. Then I remembered I had purchased the protection plan and decided to take it in. After about 2 weeks to repair, I’m happy to have a working robot vacuum.

    Great vacuum, dumb robot

In terms of vacuuming, it did a great job and rarely left things behind. If it sucked up a cord or got caught on a rug, it managed to back up and reverse until it was free. But the “smart” features aren’t that smart. It literally bangs around into objects. Sometimes it will slow down before it hits a wall, but it will run full speed into doors and table/chair legs. It doesn’t sound like that big of a deal, but it hit them hard and caused noticeable dents and scuffs on the front of the robot. The dust bin also thinks it’s full constantly, even when it’s just been emptied. But the good news is there’s a fix—just buy the self-empty bin version for only $200+ more!

The first and second month was alright, than the unit started to stop anywhere in the house, did not return to base for charging. Attention the replacement warranty that we use to buy is not worth any more, if you depend alot in you vacuum. This how it works know 1.You need to take the unit to one of the store 2.Get an appointment 3.the appt date will do paper work and dont know how many days to fix it. NO A REPLACEMENT WARRANTY ANYMORE.

I loved this machine the first few months. I clean it regularly, we have animals so my expectation may be high, I thought it would be really good on picking up cat/dog hair, however, it rolls it up and leaves it periodically on carpeted area. I'm disappointed in that component, I love that it smart maps and overall like the item, however, it's not even a year old and I feel like it has already lost some of it's suction power.

Overall i am really happy with this although its not as autonomous as you would think and it does require you to put some work ahead of time in mapping your home and creating rooms and "do-not-enter" zones. In addition, it can get stuck on high carpet or sometimes unable to finish a job due to low lighting so you may want to have some lights on/nightlights around your house if you are planning on scheduling this overnight!

It does not pick up the dog hair on the floor. I end up having to pick it up after the roomba is finished with its job. However, I would recommend this product for someone who doesn't have time to vacuum. Otherwise, just stick to a standard vacuum cleaner.
