Best Roomba Yet!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned 3 iRobot Roomba vacuums in the past, (I actually still have them all), none of them with a camera, so this is by far the best of the bunch that I have owned. While it doesn't quite avoid everything that may be in its way, it has successfully avoided cell phone cords I've left on the ground, and occasionally works itself around a dog or baby toy that gets in its way. No more banging in to walls or cabinets, and not more seemingly random trips back to the same clean spot over and over. This is my first time owning a Roomba with a mapping feature and I absolutely love it. You can see the map it creates of your home on your smartphone and then control which rooms/zones to clean. The map was definitely not perfect after the first job and took 3 or 4 more jobs to get a much more accurate map, but when compared to my previous Roombas this one ultimately, and easily, takes the crown. The self empty feature is really cool too, but it was surprisingly loud where the vacuum itself was surprisingly quiet. From what I've read online, this is common among the self emptying vacuums so its not a big deal, but it definitely scared our 11 month old when it emptied! LOL Bottom line is that, while nothing will replace the power of an upright plug in vacuum, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a vacuum that can run every day and make the need to use an upright vacuum much much less.

Disappointed
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been wanting this product for years. Finally got it & it never works. Always stating something is stuck in the bumper when nothing is stuck in the bumper. Calls support & you’re on hold for hours. Finally get someone & they see nothing wrong with the product so you have to continue to reboot it. I didn’t buy this to reboot it every use.

Failed at less than 4 months
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Error 26 and went through troubleshooting guide. Disassembled and cleaned it. Did everything possible to get it working. Best Buy is refusing to replace it despite having the protection plan. Four week expected turn around is what they are saying to get it back and working. Terrible!

Regret this purchase
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked for a month no problem I loved it. Now I get a notice to clean the head every 3 feet. I have cleaned it changed the filter. Change the brushes at least a dozen times. I’m about to order a new head just under $100. A $1000 vacuum should last more then a month.

Stay away
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought one of these units and it worked great after initial setup and its first run to learn my house layout. After it finished, it then dropped off Wi-Fi and wouldnt load back on. I emailed customer service and they gave me some ideas to try but none of it work. This also happened to the replacement.

Never works correctly
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wish I had opened this product up sooner. For some reason, it refuses to clean the master bedroom... it also is always getting stuck, it doesn't return itself to the dock in time to charge, so I am constantly looking for it. This was my first Roomba and I am so disappointed.

Not Pet recommended
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not very good for a house with pets. We had to return the vacuum because it just couldn’t handle two Ragdoll cats and a Golden Retriever. The vacuum just couldn’t keep up. It also couldn’t handle our step down living room. Very disappointed. It kept misfunctioning with error codes.

Amazing!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This iRobot Robot Roomba j7+ is amazing! It’s also easy to set up in that there is very little to set up. The packaging tells you which inner box to open first, second third. From there it’s a matter of finding the right location and plugging it in. The guides inside the box give an example of placement. Next, you download the iRobot app to your phone and follow the instructions for set up. It literally took me 15 minutes to set this up, start to finish. Once it was plugged in and set up in my iRobot app, I could see that the unit needed to charge for a while, so I made myself familiar with the other parts. The clean base is where the Roomba charges and empties itself once it’s done cleaning. Inside the top of the clean base is an easily accessible vacuum cleaner bag and storage for an extra (included) it also comes with an extra High-Efficiency Filter which captures and traps 99% of dog and cat dander allergens. That filter resides inside the Roomba itself, and again they have included an extra. Bags and filters are available on the iRobot site along with rubber brushes. Once my unit was fully charged it was just a matter of going into the app and pressing “Vacuum Everywhere”. Immediately it started up and marched ahead. What I found so amazing was that it has a camera and light on the front for sensing obstacles. Not just furniture and walls, but just about anything. Cords, shoes, toys and poop! That’s right. If my cat or dog have an accident, the Roomba will take a pass on it and go on to cleaning elsewhere. They even went so far as to name this P.O.O.P. (Pet Owner Official Promise). They are so confident in Rooma’s ability to avoid pet accidents that they will replace the unit for free if it does not avoid it. That’s confidence. What I like about this unit compared to others I own is that it does not rely so much on maps to clean your house, it just goes on its merry way cleaning everywhere and anywhere, but it does have a very extensive mapping program which allows you to name each room it’s found. This is important because I can tell Roomba to clean just the livingroom (or any other rooms) only. I can even link this to Alexa and say “clean the livingroom”. You can also set up schedules. Either a set schedule with dates and times or it can detect when you leave the house. It does that using other technologies like your phone, smart thermostat or smart door lock. I do not have mine on a schedule, I run it from the app when I am on my way out the door. As I said, I have other robot vacuums, but this one is next level. I absolutely love it!

Much improved but still some snags
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using the J7+ for a week now and after living with one of its less intelligent predecessors I can definitely see a lot of improvements. Out of the box the unit is very easy to set up and the app is intuitive. You’ll make some connections via WiFi and you’re off and running. The first few times it runs it’s very focused on getting an accurate map of your home so I’d make double sure any obstacles you can remove are out of the way. The sooner it finishes mapping the more efficient it seems to be with the battery life it does have. I have a 2400 sq ft loft all on one floor and it definitely needs multiple returns to base to clean up. A few places where my experience was less than 5 stars that i think you should know about: 1) the base is extra super loud when the robot docks and empties out. You’ll not want to be on the phone even in the next room. Sounds like an airplane taking off 2) if you hear that cycle more than once, then you have a clog. If you don’t have small screwdrivers this is going to be a frustration versus a quick fix. The screws you have to remove are on the bottom of the base and it’s not something i expected to have to do day 1 3) as with any Roomba it’s not going to clean with perfection, but i still found myself wondering why it had missed certain spots altogether 4) including only two bags and not calling out a very obvious way to get more (say a big sticky label on top of the base that encourages you to order ASAP) puts you in a position of frustration when you’ve used the two they included your first week I will say the app is very intuitive and will even show you the objects that roomba considered obstacles and give you the suggestion to move them. All in all i continue to be amazed with what iRobot does with every generation of Roomba and I am very pleased.

My new housekeeper
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The iRobot Roomba J7+ self emptying robot vacuum has greatly improved upon the 1st few generations of robotic vacuums and made keeping my floors extremely easy. Initial setup was pain free and easy. Once you take the base out of the box you simply plug it in and and place the Roomba on the base to begin the pairing and startup process. Once you download the app on your phone you are able to see the status of the vacuum as well as the mapping of your home and the ability to schedule cleaning times. Mapping my home accurately took about 4 passes and the Roomba was very methodical in the paths that it took. The obstacle detection on this model is great and I the team at Irobot claim that the J7 will avoid any pet messes on the floor if your pet has an accident. Once your space is fully mapped out you have the ability to restrict the area in which the J7 will vacuum. You can also label the areas on the map so you can schedule the vacuum to clean certain areas via the app or specifically clean certain areas via voice commands. The use of voice commands however requires you to link your Roomba to a a smart home assistant such as Alexa or Google assistant. The one main gripe that I have had over the years with robot vacuum is that the waste bin is extremely small however the J7 will return to the dock and empty the waste bin into the base and continue its cleaning task. The only issue that I had in my first few days with the J7 is that it got under a dresser where there was an old glue trap to catch spiders. Unfortunately the Roomba's wheel got stuck on the trap and it was unable to continue until I returned home and cleaned the glue off the wheel. The app however did send me a notification that the Roomba required assistance and I was able to locate it by pinging it on the app, Having 4 kids in the house I love having the ability to have the J7 clean while I am away at work or at night while everyone is sleeping so that the floors don't get overly dirty in between my weekly deep cleanings. iRobot has done a great job in improving upon the technology in their older vacuums and I hope they continue to innovate in years to come. I would definitely recommend this vacuum to anyone who is looking for a hassle free way to keep their floors clean.

Great Robotic Vac
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my forth robotic vac and so far it works pretty good. The first run ran flawlessly. It cleaned my entire first floor with no issues. The second run it got stuck under the table. It cleans well. Not too noisy except when it empties the dirt out of the unit but that feature is really nice to have and it only takes a few seconds. Only down fall is you have to buy bags for the unit that empties the robot. Really like the phone app. Works well.

The best vacuum I've ever had
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had several Roombas over the years. All of them have had me wondering if they're really doing anything and too many times I'd come home to a robot that was either dead of hung up on some cords or debris. Even worse sometimes it would clean off limits areas due to the IR barrier lighthouse batteries dying all too often. This is not at all my usual Roomba experience. For the first time I can see myself replacing my upright vacuum and just using this. iRobot has taken everything back to the drawing board and seems to be learning from past versions. First, gone are the days of painting your entire carpet with a "surprise" from your pet. The new Roomba is outfitted with a front facing camera and onboard LED light to identify hazards both biological and inanimate and can decide, using a bit of AI, whether or not it is indeed vacuumable. The new room mapping tech works very well showing you a 2D layout of your home after its first initial run. You can then use the app to designate and name the rooms it found. After doing that, you can then tell Roomba to just clean that room only and it will go to that room, clean it, then go back to its base - all autonomously. Its very impressive. The Roomba now actually has very good suction and this time around actually is doing something. I have no doubt. This is verified by feeling the contents of the dust bag which the robot empties to after every cleaning. The auto emptying feature is really nice but I worry that since the bags need frequent replacement, cost and eventual availability of the refills might be an issue. I believe that one bag could last up to 2 months of regular 3x week use. Emptying the robot bin to the base is loud. Very loud. Louder that a traditional upright vacuum. Thankfully its not a long time and the bin is cleared in 5 to 8 seconds. Still, something to consider when placing the home base near a crib or pets bed. The robot will send you its findings via the app and if it has questions about an obstacle, it snaps a quick photo and asks you if its ok to clean that area next time or after its done you can have it "tidy up". The Roomba is Alexa friendly and can be controlled by Echos and TVs and devices outfitted with Voice Assistants built-in. I cant wait for a Roomba with both vacuuming and mopping built-in to one device (Bravo and Roomba = Broomba?) I'm sure its being worked out but until that day this Roomba is the best carpet and hard-wood floor robot you can buy.

What an Improvement!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have an older model of the iRobot Roomba and this new one is great! This one is going to live on the second floor where I have all carpet. The set up was easy with all the parts and the waste bags that go in the waste area. Those are great! That is the way that dirt should be captured! Clean and neat and just throw it out and replace the bag! Setting it up on the app was also easy even with my older Roomba still on the app. I sent it on its first job and I was amazed at how quiet it was! It was so quiet that I questioned whether it was actually vacuuming or not! That was a big improvement over the older model! I love how the unit goes in straight lines through the room and as it cleans, it is mapping out my floor plan! I came upstairs once during the day and was surprised that it found its way back to the docking station. That is always good, but noticed that it skipped 2 rooms! Next time I went upstairs the unit was on and working again! It must have docked itself to charge a bit to finish the job! Pretty good! I have used the Roomba a few times now and I don't know why, but it keeps on missing one of my rooms on the second floor. Another thing that I noticed, is while walking around upstairs after the unit was docked, I was finding these little carpet balls on the carpet. Like the unit was full and the fibers from the carpet just rolled around under the Roomba and then eventually just got left on the carpet. Another thing that I hope that does not happen is to leave black scuff marks on my white baseboards. The older model does that and I had to cover the bumpers with clear packaging tape to prevent it. I am looking forward to many years of use and hope the waste bags are not too expensive!
