    Stuck in Updating mode for 11+ days

    Purchased the item direct from I-Robot for our office to replace a shark vacum/mop, out of the box the robot completed the mapping cycle*, the ran on two additional times. As there is not a place to review the robots on their website i will do so here. After the robot was unable to start and stuck in update mode for five days we called I-Robot technical support, after speaking with the technician on the phone and attempting various ways to try to restart the device and to try resetting the wifi connections, the technician decided to have us remove the battery. The technician also stated that they had received a batch of robots in that were having this problem and they have been resolving it by removing the battery and waiting 24 hours. After removing 6 screws on the out side of the device with a normal philips head screw driver, the battery is held in with four tiny metal screws, maybe 1/16th of an inch wide head or smaller. I tried all different small philips head screw driver sizes to get one to fit, including the super small ones for eyeglass frames and none fit. The technician says they recommend using the tip of the regular sized screwdriver. The metal the screws are metal is really soft and the heads are subject to damage. But eventually we got them out and removed the battery. We were instructed to leave the battery out and then reinstall after 24 hours. The I-Robot technician said they would call back in 24 hours to see if it worked and if needed offer assistance as to how to reinstall the battery. 48 hours later on day seven, no call back to follow up, we decided to reinstall the battery since it seemed straight forward. This does not resolve the issue. Reset the wifi just in case, still stuck in the update mode. Did some googling and see that this issue sometimes self resolves after a few days, some people reporting the software update completed after 18 days, and some as many as 30 days ~ apparently this is a know problem since 2022. Day seven, still no follow-up call. Decide to call in, the technician we get on this days, has us attempt restarting, no luck still wont work. They decide to "escalate" the case, to see if we can be sent a replacement robot. Day ten, receive an e-mail regarding the status of case, asking if we still need assistance and that if they dont hear from us withing 48 hours the case will auto resolve. Click the link on the e-mail to try to follow up, takes you to the i-robot website, asks you to log into you account, which we do, but no where is there a place to follow up on your case. Day eleven, call technical support, to try to follow-up on the e-mail and case. Asked to send in screen shot from the app to prove the robot is still not working. Then told the case will be escalated while they try to trouble shoot the problem. They would like a few more days to determine if it can be fixed or if we can get a replacement or refund. Needless to say this is ridiculous, its a brand new robot it should not take days to resolve the situation. *(Please note compared to our old shark vacum the I-Robot Roomba mapping was poor in comparison the Shark mapping capabilities).

    Works ok. Better on hard surfaces. Don’t like how hard it hits furniture and baseboards. Will probably end up only using it for certain open areas.

    What a piece of crap. I've owned and loved my basic Roomba for 14 years. It lasted well. I did bought this top of the line j9 about six months ago and it's never worked for more than a day or two without having major problems. In six months it's probably worked 10 time. For what you pay, this should work better. It's hard to set up, and basically requires the app to work. I have it scheduled for 2 times a week, and when I see it hasn't gone out, I go to the app and see what happened. It usually says something like "bin is full". You empty it for the 10th time, even though it's already empty and it still doesn't work. Call customer support and they help and you get get it started and then "sorry, cannot mop today." Sorry I upgraded.

    Swore me off Irobot

    The worst ever. I’ve had a Bobsweep and a Shark that were generations older and worked infinitely better than this. It has strong suction. That’s its only Pro. It is dumb. Can’t learn and can’t remember. It has to be perpetually reset every 2-3 months. It runs over anything in its way. Everything on it wears out quickly and they do not support it anymore at all. You can’t buy wheels for it and they will wear out quickly. Just do yourself a favor and avoid iRobot altogether. It is a garbage company.

    Pet Accident Avoidance Doesn’t Work

    Performance is OK when it works. It’s loud. Battery life is so-so, takes about 4-hours to sweep about 1200 sq ft. Pet waste avoidance doesn’t work and if it happens after 1 year, you’re out of luck. Company stands behind its product…for 1 year. At the price point, incredibly disappointing and and I will not be a future customer.

    Not as good as the S9

    My S9 did a great job cleaning up under the kitchen table and getting kitty litter bits off the bathroom floor. My new J9+ leaves the same two area looking untouched. The cleaning rollers are too far from the esge of the robot to clean in toght spaces. Remarkable design flaw.
