I had a USB 3.0 Passport Drive attached to my laptop through this thing and the drive would routinely time out if I tried to copy big files to/from it. Anything over 100MB in size.

I have a new Macbook Air which does not have an Ethernet port and has only two USB ports. That means finding a suitable hub or equivalent. After fooling around, for too long, with a USB to Ethernet connector, I gave up. The connection kept failing. Besides, it would have taken up one of my two valuable USB ports. I then found the j5 create hub with not only an Ethernet port but also three USB 3 ports. What a find. After downloading and installing the drivers, it worked like a charm, first time out. What a pleasure. I could go on but I will wait for a few more months of operating before I say that it is a "permanent" fix. But so far, absolutely no issues.

and nothing liks this adapter. It was expensive, doesn't make that much of a difference, and compatibility issues have outweighed the benefits.

Bought this for my Macbook. It looks solid, but it didn't work. It has a power port to plug in an adapter. I'm assuming that my USB-C port isn't providing enough power and I'd need to buy a power supply, because the product doesn't actually come with one. The instructions say to contact J5 before BestBuy. That's a red flag for me. I'll be returning this item.

Ethernet jack did not hold a secure connection and the data frequently came in choppy returned product

Wouldn't work with my laptop, drivers refused to install.

It works with windows 8.1 but does not with widows 10, even after download the "update" driver.

HAd to purchase this in order to work with ethernet what a bummer. forced buy.

I had to return this product. No matter which device I plugged it into, the corresponding mouse with the device would work only intermittently. I went to Radio Shack and purchased one for substantially less and it worked just fine.

I work in IT, and bought this to use with my Surface 4 Pro that I use for work - being able to work hard wired at home is a huge plus, and having the additional USB ports is great. The option for the AC adapter is a huge plus too, the Belkin model doesn't have that. Liked it so much I bought another, and use it for my home laptop to connect an external keyboard, mouse and Ethernet (HP Envy x360) when I don't feel like fiddling with cords while I'm sitting at my desk.

I am VERY particular when it comes to tech. Needed a USB Ethernet in my laptop after the internal adapter quit, Not sure about j5create I bought this expecting to have to return it. Got home, true plug & play, Win8.1 recognized it, no need for a driver install, switched the setting to 1Gb Full Duplex and immediately tripled my speed vs the factory adapter. needed this for my Venue 11 Pro. now have 3 usb 3.0 and added ethernet. even works in OS X. great product

And Ethernet is the biggest reason I bought this. Every time I use it, I have to plug and unplug the ethernet cable in order to gain internet access. Often takes 5+ tries, waiting between each to see if I got connected. Then once I finally do get access, it'll work for awhile and then randomly disconnect me without warning....I often resort to (slower) Wi-Fi just to avoid interruptions. Needless to say both problems I've described are very frustrating. I downloaded and installed the driver correctly and closely followed the J5Create step-by-step installation instructions. Even uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, but immediately started having the same problems. At least all three USB ports continue to work

This is a great product for 2-in-1 laptop that does not have a built in ethernet (rj45) connection. The bonus is the USB hub!

Bought this for a laptop with a limited number of USB ports and a network card that was acting up. Was concerned that possibly because the laptop only had 2.0 that it wouldn't work but it did.
