It offers a convenient way to connect your USB-3 or USB-2 device to your USB-c port. I used it connect my devices to the ports on my MacBook Pro 2018. The newer Mac laptops only have USB-c ports on them so you have to use adapters such as this one to connect your peripherals.

Unfortunately, I had to return it since it was not being recognized by my computer. Not sure if it was the NAS itself, or the cable that contributed to the problem. It was a nice sturdy cable though.

If you have devices that are older and use USB and a laptop that only has USB-C ports then you might consider investing in this. J5Create makes spectacular products and this one is a necessity for all geeks.
