Jackery Generator Works Great
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This generator does everything it is supposed to do and does it very well. There are two USB-C ports that charge your devices at a high-power rapid speed such as your phone or tablet. There is a 120-volt outlet that you can connect your laptop or other devices that require household power to it. It is supposed to be a genuine sine wave which I think is much better for devices than a simulated sine wave like on other units. There is also a 12-volt car port. Not sure of a good use for it but it is there. I started off charging the device with the included 120V power cable. This took about 2 hours from empty to full. When the battery ran down to empty after using it, I tried the solar panels. In normal daylight it did not charge at all. I had to put it into direct very bright sunlight and was able to charge it in a few hours. So, the solar panel does require bright direct sunlight to work at all. The solar panel does include snaps and a magnetic flip to keep it nice and folded which works well. I tested it by connecting a gaming laptop to the 120-volt port, a phone and tablet to each of the USB-C ports, and a radar detector to the 12-volt port. With all of those connected and in use, I was able to get around 3 hours of power to everything until the battery ran out. The display shows the input watts and remaining time to a full change, the output power being used and remaining run time, the percentage of battery remaining, and some other diagnostic information. Everything here is useful and well laid out. This generator does have the ability to connect to an app on your phone. It was very easy to connect, however it requires that you create a Jackery account before you can use the app. I don’t understand this as there is no reason why an account should be required to use it. The app is basic. It shows all the same information that you see on the screen. Assuming you are near the unit, you can just look at that. The only real case I can see this being useful is if you are charging it outside and want to check the progress from inside wherever you are. There are a few settings you can change in the app, but I found that the default settings were fine. A nice app that works well but doesn’t serve much of a purpose. My biggest complaint is that the display automatically turns off after a short amount of time. You can keep it on by double pressing the power button while the unit is on, but you must do this every time. I wish there was a way to just set it to always stay on. There is a fan built in to cool the unit. It is a tiny bit loud indoors. Nothing obnoxious though and you probably wouldn’t even hear it outside. A great generator that works great and that I highly recommend to power everything.
