    Good entry-level fitness tracker.

I've been happy with the JawBone UP2 after about a week of use. My friends also have UP devices and that makes using the device a lot more fun. The pedometer works well and the sleep tracking seems to do OK as well. The cool thing about the UP app is that it can link with other apps, like MyFitnessPal, and pull in food data, etc. Worth noting is that the band, in theory, can have issues. JawBone offers a free clasp piece that fixes the problem though. I recommend getting it. So far I am able to get about 6 days of battery out of it, wearing it non-stop, even in the shower. :)

It counts my steps and tracks my sleep. Do I care if it is only 98% accurate or 100% no, because in my mind non of these things are 100%. I got this because I don't always walk with my phone and I was missing half of my steps in the day. The reason I didn't give it full stars is because there are no online options with this tracking system it is all phone app control. Second reason the clip sides off if it catches on the end of my coat. But the website said to wear it tighter and it wont happen. But I like it a little loose so I just keep in mind this as I put on and off my coat.

    Jawbone UP2

I was previously using a Jawbone up, which had to be replaced. Unfortunately, I lost the replacement so I decided to try the UP2. I love the fact that it is splashproof. The clasp is not easy to use, and it kept coming undone. Shortly after I purchased the UP2, I received an email from Jawbone, and they offered a free tiny clasp thingy. I got the new clasp guard in about a week, and haven't had any issues with it coming undone since I added that. Having to charge it is somewhat inconvenient, however, it usually stays charged for about 10 days or so.

    Accuracy Issues

I originally purchased an UP24 for both my wife and I. We both very much liked the UP24 and were challenging each other each week. Then we started having issues. After a while they wouldn't sync or would crash. We called Jawbone and they, without question, replaced our UP24's with UP2's. After using the UP2's for some time, we both noticed that our steps dropped dramatically! For all accounts, we hadn't changed our lifestyle with the exception of a few days where we knew it would drop. Jawbone marked it up as a syncing use they had and that the newest update should resolve it. In the meantime our steps will be off. My wife and I have both also had to call in for replacements for our UP2's as the bands have ripped for both of us. We have only had them for a matter of months. Overall, I would give this product a One Star had it not been for the Customer Service I have received from this company. They have truly been great to work with.

I have had the Jawbone Up2 for a week and i couldn't be happier with it. It does everything exactly as it should. Battery life, syncing, tracking and sleep all great. I have no issues that i have read in other reviews such as changing to sleep mode, it easy with no problems and works every time. Also the fit is great and taking off and putting on is very easy.

    Clasp Does Not Work

I previously owned the Up24 band. I loved it, but after a year of use, it died on me. So when I went to get a new one, I decided to get the Up2- it was less expensive, and a new, sleeker design. Awesome right? Wrong. Within my first 24 hours of wearing my new Up2, it fell off somewhere during the day, and I was never able to find it. So I called Jawbone, and they said too bad, so sad, but here is 20% off to get a new one. And I did. I got the exact same one as before. It falls off all the time. I tighten the band in the morning, within a few hours it's loose, and then the data collected is not accurate. The clasp and the mechanism used to adjust the size are horrible. I am so disappointed with the Up2, especially after having such good luck with the Up24. I would recommend getting an Up24, or going with a fitbit that actually has a closure that works.

    Bluetooth has massive connection issues.

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The UP2 is ok... when the bluetooth actually decides to work. TL/DR: * Bluetooth constantly drops. * Bluetooth is frustrating to get the UP2 to re-sync after it drops. * Resync requires multiple device resets. * Band is uncomfortable for large wrists. * Android App only installs on newer android devices. I decided to get a Jawbone UP2 when a few of my coworkers showed me their Jawbone 24s. Originally I wanted to get a 24, but the store I went only had a few in stock and they were size small. I liked how the silver UP2 looked and decided to get that instead searching out a 24. I had read a few reviews on how the UP2 had syncing issues but I honestly thought it might be due to people not following directions--and I really liked the silver as it stood apart from all the blah plastic colours of the other fitness bands. (Yes, I do believe I said Oh! Shiny!) When I first got the UP2, I followed the directions exactly--charging it first, downloading the app to an approved android device and then attempting to connect it to the android device via bluetooth. It wouldn't sync. I spent 3 hours on the internet trying to figure out what I was doing wrong or if there was some way to force it into pairing with my device. After giving up completely I watched TV for an hour to calm down. I decided to give the pairing one more try before bed. I forced it to soft reset and I rebooted my device for good measure... and the UP2 paired up immediately and started to work. I thought perhaps "maybe I'm doing it wrong" and it started working because I had performed the sync correctly. Since then the bluetooth connection constantly drops. I have to force a soft reset and then spend an hour reseting/rebooting my device and trying to get the UP2 to pair with it. It is beyond frustrating, especially since once it drops bluetooth it doesn't seem to execute the alarms or reminders making it rather useless as a silent alarm clock. To make matters worse, I have a big wrist (about 7.5") and the UP2 barely fits. I have it on its largest setting and it is uncomfortable. My skin is getting marked up with 'buckle' and coupled with all the bluetooth connection issues, I've pretty much decided to return the UP2 and buy something else. I can't even begin to describe how frustrated I am by this experience. If you do decide to buy this device, good luck finding anything on the internet to help with the pairing. Searching "Jawbone UP2 Bluetooth" will have results for the "jawbone 24" or the "jawbone power up 2". While I do like Jawbone products, this experience has soured me on their fitness bands. The "help" videos don't include any troubleshooting tips in regards to syncing the bluetooth. If you made it this far, I recommend you go with a 24 or a completely different fitness band even if they are ugly plastic bands that look more like some sort of hospital wrist tag. Better to have an ugly product that works properly than an attractive one that barely functions and is frustrating to use.

Just an "ok" band but only if you don't sweat

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

My husband and I both started with the original up. I never had any problems with it but my husband did (got 2 replacements neither of which worked and eventually got the 2). I've had mine a couple of weeks and at first it was fine. However recently I've had problems. When running it appears sweating too much causes the band to vibrate rapidly and switch between sleep and active modes. Now I'm experiencing a problem where I spend about 15 second tapping the band and cannot change modes. Additionally, if the band isn't just right on your wrist it doesn't activate and count the steps. It's hard to get it to fit firmly and clasp it. My husband has had extreme difficulty with customer service (another story) and its not worth trying to resolve the issue through support. At this point I'm switching to something else. Bottom line: not worth the fuss. Once you have one problem they will continue.

    Great motivation, poor step counter

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I love all the tips the smart coach gives because it helps keep me motivated. And I have learned some health facts that I didn't know. The links provided by the smart coach allow you to learn even more. My biggest disappointment with this product is how inaccurate the step counter is. It doesn't count anywhere near the amount of steps I take. For example, today I walked 2.25 miles on the treadmill, averaging 3.9 mph. My height is average. The UP2 said I only took 1600 steps in that 35 minutes; it should have been closer to 5000 steps. As a teacher, I'm also pretty active through the day, moving around a lot and rarely sitting down. At the end of the day, I barely have 3000 steps. Since I started wearing the UP2 two weeks ago, I still have not hit 10,000 steps. I have never had a problem meeting this goal with other step counters. Because part of what keeps me motivated is beating my goal each day, it is frustrating not to know whether I have even come close. Despite the UP2's inaccuracy as a pedometer, it still is a pretty good product because it has the motivations each day and a pretty accurate food log. The sleep tracker is also helpful.

    Bad clasp

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I got one for me and one as a gift for my partner. I noticed right away that the band does easily come off because the clasp is poorly made. There's no lock to keep it secure on your wrist. I returned mine after a few days because I also found it hard to switch modes by tapping. After only a week of having it, my partner lost hers. It just came off her wrist while she was at the mall and didn't even notice it was gone until a couple of hours later. I should've listened to the other reviews and stayed away from this activity band.

    Okay tracker, but some flaws

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The tracker is pretty good and the UP app for Android works really well but the UP app for Apple doesn't always work and loses connection frequently and also freezes. The tracker is nice and pretty accurate, but like the other reviews have stated the major issue is the clasp. If you are really active or if it gets wet, the tracker can come off and I have lost one of these before. Overall, the tracker is nice and the App (when it works) makes it really nice. Glad I didn't spend FitBit type money as this does everything the fitbit does but for a fraction of the cost.

    DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I beg you, do not buy a Jawbone Up2. I have had mine less than 3 months and already the vibration feature has stopped working. It is far from durable and is completely beat up from normal use in less than 3 months. It is faded, scratched up, and has significantly stretched out. The touch interface is lousy at best. Sometimes I have to slam on the thing to get it to respond. While other times, it barely taps ANY surface and it just goes to sleep! The button on the Up24 was much better. The software is horrendous and has not been working now for two weeks and they do not seem to care. I continue to reach out to customer support whenever I have issues, and it takes them DAYS to respond. By then, I've found a way to fix it myself. The software does not play nice with third parties and is extremely limited. The Smart Coach is disappointing as it simply just repeats itself after about a month or so. The tips are not helpful, and it continues to give me the exact same challenge every day. Lastly, the strap is frustrating to use. If can’t latch this thing in the dark, you need to rethink your design. I can think of one nice feature, 9-10 days of battery life. Overall a huge disappointment and I am switching to FitBit.

    Jawbone - UP2

Have had both a fitbit flex and fitbit charge and there is no comparison. I gave away flex when I got the charge and then somehow misplaced the charge. A friend of mine has the jawbone first edition and loves it so instead of getting another fitbit I thought I would change brands especially as I had just recently purchased an Iphone 6. I am so disappointed in this product. The band is impossible to put on, I still have to get help, that is for starters, second the tapping is just a pain and I have put it into the wrong mode (stop watch and running are very similar), third it is NOT accurate in its step measurement. I have pacer on my phone and it records way more steps then this UP2 does, and I don't always have my phone on me and still it reads higher numbers. I would never have purchased this wristband if I had read the reviews first. The only thing going for this UP2 is the size. I liked everything the fitbit flex did but did not like the size. I plan on returning this and going back to my fitbit. Very disappointing.

    Nice upgrades over the UP24

I enjoyed the UP24 and this does everything it did with some improvements. The smart alarm is the best feature. I really have found it life-altering to always wake up during light sleep rather than hitting a snooze all the time. It took a little effort to learn the new clasp and touch control. I am not having any difficulties with either. I feel they are an improvement over 24. I completely forget I'm wearing it except for the reminders I've set.

    Horrifyingly Awful Product

I absolutely hate my new band. I used to have an UP24 (for almost a year) and I couldn't go anywhere without it. It was wonderful. Then, it suddenly stopped working, and I was told it would be 4-6 weeks before they could send me another one. I decided to purchase an UP2 in the meantime and instantly regretted it. It switches modes on me constantly, often shifting into sleep mode when I run, shower, or even shift positions on the couch. That MIGHT be OK if it actually responded when I want to switch modes. But sadly, no. I look like a crazy person tapping my band dozens of times before I can get it to respond. This new product is absolutely rubbish, so shame on Jawbone for putting it on the market as an upgrade to the wonderful UP24.

I picked up my Jawbone Up 2 activity tracker a couple of months back when I saw it on sale (probably close out since they updated the band style on the newer model due to problems with the old band coming off unintentionally). It's been interesting watching what it says I walk and how much I sleep, but it doesn't seem to be right on. I am a CNA2 at a local hospital and I mainly picked it up because I had been wanting to know how far I walk on a daily basis. Turns out it's several miles walking around the unit of our hospital. Also turns out that several other CNA's and RN's have activity trackers, although theirs were more expensive than my Jawbone Up 2 and are likely more accurate. For example, one of the RN's wears a Samsung Gear Fit which can be set to walking, running or driving mode so it knows what you're doing. She sets it on walk and we both start out our shifts at the same time. By the end of the day, hers is registering double the steps taken and distance traveled than my Up 2. Results are similar when compared to the activity trackers of others, however, some of them which have GPS on them I believe are also inaccurate and over inflate distance traveled in some cases due to the GPS watching distance from here to there. Secondly, this tracker supposedly tracks your sleep; I get reports in the morning that tell me how much I slept and allege how much of it was supposedly "sound sleep" and how much of it was "light sleep" and how many times I work up during the night, how long it took me to fall asleep, etc. My first clue that something didn't seem right was that it told me it usually takes me 10 minutes to fall asleep. I have a hard time sleeping so maybe once in a while, but not usually. One night I forgot to put the band on at all and it laid on top of my cell phone all night and it still tracked sleep and told me how many hours of sound sleep, light sleep, etc. that I got that night. That was my next clue that this thing just doesn't quite know what its doing although you could do worse I'm sure. The feeds that it sends to your phone via the Up App are relatively interesting and I have to say one bonus of wearing an activity tracker is that it does encourage you to take the stairs rather than the elevator all the time and that kind of thing, when you're trying to hit your distance goal. But, I've probably hit it far more times than the Up 2 says I have because I don't believe that it is accurate. I got mine on an excellent sale so its hard for me to be too upset about that, otherwise in all honesty if I had paid full price for this I would probably have either returned it to the store or be living with buyers remorse. You can do better but better is probably double the cost of the Up 2. The old adage that you get what you pay for isn't always true, but this is one of those times when it is it seems. I'm eyeing the Samsung Gear Fit that my co-worker has now, which also connects to your cell phone and can interact with your text messaging, let you know if you missed a call, tell you the time, and has customizable bands which can be picked up quite affordably so if one breaks on you its not the end of the road whereas the Up 2 band seems to be pretty solidly attached to the activity tracker so I'm not sure what you'd do other than buy another one if the band broke. For now I'm still wearing my Up 2 because its the best I have at the moment.
