Great fitness tracker. The band size is much narrower than the FitBit which was good for me given my small wrist size. Very comfortable and easy to use. The battery life is great.

Tracks steps, resting heart rate and sleep. Battery life is about seven days per recharge. The UP2 that I had would last ten days.

Jawbone UP 3 generations products that dont last!!

***Updated 12/09/2015**** So after about 6 or 7 months I am now waiting on my 4th replacement of JUST my UP3. After waiting for this round of replacements for 3 weeks I contacted Jawbone yesterday and found out they had forgotten to send the replacements for mine and my wives UP2 (which also has a broken band) . While the Jawbone App is great the hardware is atrocious! In addition jawbone's quality assurance is so poor that multiple times they have pushed updates that have completely or intermittently broken step counting, the primary function of the device. If you are like me and you bought an UP3 based on the promise of cool features such as hydration and respiration they still are not here. While Jawbone recently did add passive heart rate tracking, you cannot get a read unless you are not moving,I mean completely still. You also cannot initiate a read of your current heart rate on your own! Even with more heart rate data available, the app does not adjust your calorie burn rate so essentially you have a novelty reading, given Jawbones already sketchy offering I'm not even sure you can believe the readings that you do get! Active / Passive heart rate tracking is something that the Fitbit Charge HR does for 30$ less than the UP3. if you follow Fitbit discussion forums you do not find an endless stream of dissatisfied customers as you do on unofficial Jawbone forums. (The official ones had been shut down last that I looked!) If you try to engage Jawbone about the missing features they will be quick to remind you that they are adding new features and intend to deliver on the promises that they they made but the real problem here is that it is HIGHLY unlikely that anyone who bought an UP3 at launch is still going to have it when they get around to adding these promised features, due to how poorly the devices are made. If you start searching any forum , or twitter or anywhere that you can find the name Jawbone + Up you will find an alarming number of people complaining about broken devices and those cases are the norm. I have added a picture for you of my small "Jawbone graveyard" that I have any my house. Ive owned the Up24, the up move, the up2 and the up3. When it comes to Jawbone's devices everything seems to be a mixed bag with some things working really well and other mostly near missed that weigh them down. The same is true for the UP3. Price / features: On one hand you have one of the most expensive trackers around at 179 dollars. In comparison the Fitbit Charge HR ($149.99) and the fitbit charge ($124.99) are both devices you can compare with the UP3 in terms of features but are both cheaper than Jawbone's products. The Up3 is about $30 more expensive than the Charge HR but does not provide the heart rate monitoring function that the charge HR does. While Jawbone touts it's product as the most advanced fitness tracker ever, 7 months after the original promised launch date Jawbone has failed to provide any news about when the promised feature of active heart rate monitoring will be available. They periodically refer people who complain about this to a blog post from November where a developer says this feature is coming soon. Management and support: Jawbones management are poor and their support outright lies about commonly known issues with the product. Design and looks: On the other side of things, the Jawbone UP2 and UP3 are simply the nicest looking trackers around that perform more than rudimentary tracking. The Clasp: The clasp constantly comes undone Display / No Display. No Display Software: This is the place where Jawbones up line REALLY stands out. Jawbones Up software is just SO FAR AHEAD of the competitors even though they do not have an actual browser based application and only a mobile app. When you launch the UP software you are presented with a day view of your main fitness indicators, Sleep , steps and activity and nutrition. Now Jawbone has actually went the extra mile and opened their platform up to work with a wide array of products and services, If you don;t like their food tracker ( I don't) use a different one. You can use If This Than That to integrate things like the Fitbit Aria scale or your Nest thermostat there are a wealth of things to play with in this space and this aspect is unmatched in any other trackers software. Once you start using Jawbones platform and you add a couple friends you end up with a fotness social feed not unlike facebook but in this feed instead of talking about mock politics or sports you have friends to cheer you on and also compete with. I have owned MANY trackers including a couple Fitbits, a Garmin , Bodymedia, Polar devices , Omron pedometers.... None of them come close to this and none of them have provided me with the motivation I have got from this social feed. All throughout the day you get constant updates of how your friends are doing on their steps. They have some emotes you can send back and fourth and you can also log your mood. When you stat to drill down into the details you find so much detail months after buying my first up I still find myself poking around in the app looking art detail and being surprised. The smart coach is another thing I have seen people marginalize but is a really cool feature especially on the UP3. With the Smart coach you will receive some generic health data but if you are really into living a better lifestyle I wouldn't say it is not useful as some others have. You will also get very specific advice like "You woke up 30 minutes later than usual today and that means you are typically not as active throughout the day, try walking for 15 minutes to offset the slow start!" When using the UP# since it monitors your resting heart rate it has an idea when you went to bed dehydrated (oops to that Saturday night where we might have had a few too many drinks and went to be severely dehydrated) on these days it will let you know and challenge you to drink 8 glasses of water , it will setup a tracker and remind you througout the day if you accept. It also likes to remind you when you are not getting to bed on time. The software will challenge you via a "Today I will" to get to bed earlier and it will remind you as you near your promised bed time that it is time to start winding down. One last note about the software, if you have an android device you can download the purple UP app and pair your phones pedometer to the platform. If you are curious about the software this is a great way to test drive it but you will be missing out on the sleep portion which I think is significant. (2 years ago I would have laughed at this statement!) Heart Rate / additional sensors: I have to say given a choice between the 99$ UP2 and the 179$ Up3 I have a heard time recommending the UP3 and this is mostly because of the issues I noted with what seems to be a dysfunctional development team or management team. For the extra 80$ you get one of the best sleep trackers around no doubt. When you track your sleep with the UP3 either by putting it into sleep mode before you fall asleep or adding your sleep in the morning you get a graph of your resting heart rate all throughout the night, There are many many datapoints where the device shows your heart rate and after the latest firmware update it is very interesting to look at your sleep patterns. The UP3 tracks your sleep in terms of Awake, REM, Light and Deep Sleep. Try as I might to discredit the tracker it sure seems to be accurate to me. Lately I have been waking up at night and when I remember having been dreaming I note the time and try to match it up with my REM sleep the next day. It all looks pretty legitimate to me. I don't know what I am to do with all of this data but I can tell you that since I started using the UP devices I am FAR more aware of and actively trying to do better with my sleeping. When I have a bad sleep week I tend to try harder to get to bed on time the next week or the next night. In this respect I have been feeling much better lately and I think the UP3 platform is really really working for me in motivating me to get additional steps and better / more sleep. All in all I think Jawbone really needs to get a better message out to their users with better communication I think that this UP2 / 3 launch could have went off MUCH smoother. They have a REALLY solid product and when things are working its probably the best all around tracker you can get. I still recommend the Jawbone products to my friends over fitbit any anything else. I really wish they would get their act together in support and communication though

Being a fitness instructor there are 2 trackers that I would recommend to my students. The first is a Fitbit if you need a watch, the other one is the Jawbone Up2/3/or4. if you take a zumba then Jawbone would be a one to get. You can tag the class you just took. And the other reason I will say Jawbone is that it has the best app.

I bought this for my husband he has had heart problems and I just wanted to make sure he keeps an eye on it he just loves it. The only reason I gave it a 3 star rating he had a little bit of trouble setting it up but they did help him at our local Best Buy store and he has trouble putting it on and off.

I liked for the week I had it then it kept falling off my wrist and I lost it. I read the reviews before buying and saw the clasp and thought that doesn't look like it could fall off, it's hard to get clasped so how could it come off? Didn't take long to find out lost in just over 7 days of ownership.

The jawbone 3 is just like the 2 when I first bought it I was under the impression that the clasp to keep it close would be different. It is exactly the same and it comes off a couple times a week. I lost the first one I purchased. The clasp on these really need to be changed out and more secure.
