I bought 2 of these sets. Both of them have issues. I threw one box away. I am still returning it tomorrow. Good idea. Bad execution. Stick to the manual dumbbells like Bowflex ones. Those will last

Now I know this should go without saying since we are talking about weights, but just realize you are probably going to need a dolly to carry the shipping box in your home. Not only do you have the weight of the dumbbells themselves, but also the bases (docking cradles). Ok, with the obvious out of the way - here is my review. Assembly was rather straightforward. The included instructions guide you through each of the steps, which took me approximately 20 minutes, including the unboxing. First, you will want to locate a space for your two charging cradles. Each base requires their own plugin, they do not piggyback power from one another. It should also be noted that while there are two USB cables included, the charging bricks are not. You will need to supply your own. Next you will need to assemble the weights by placing the primary base weight into the cradle then adding each of the additional weights one by one. The weights are grooved and slide onto one another. Each weight is flat on one side which provides stability and helps to keep them from rolling when you place them onto the floor outside the cradle. You will also want to download the associated JAXJOX app. It is not 100% required to use the dumbbells, but it does offer basic tracking (reps, sets, weight used, and calories burned), videos, and a few additional features. Once setup is complete you can begin working out, though it is recommended to first charge both bases prior to use. Each dumbbell has a max weight of 50lbs beginning at 8lbs and increasing in 6lb increments. Select your desired weight for each dumbbell on its respective base using the touchy. The weight is displayed on the base LCD screen. Once your weight is selected you will hear the handle extend and lock into place. You are now free to workout. I have has zero issues with the weights locking. Each use has been flawless. The plates are secured don't move much. Seating the dumbbells back into the cradle takes a bit of practice since each plate locks into the next. So you have to line them up. The handles are comfortable to grip and feel rather solid. Plenty of room between the end weights, but no too much. Aesthetically these are very pleasing. There aren't clunky and fit well into smaller workout spaces. So my final verdict is this - JAXJOX has done pretty well overall in their design and implementation, but there is some work to do - especially with the app. I have not had these long enough to know how they will hold up to long term use. I have a few concerns such as the plastic bases breaking or cracking, how will the internal electronics of the dumbbells hold up to being dropped, and if the dumbbell electronics stop working there is no manual adjustment - you're just out of luck. Don't get me wrong - they have worked great so far. No issues. I would have to hold off until I have these a few months longer before I would recommend them. I simply do not know how durable they will be. But my experience so far has been rather good.

    A must-have for a home gym

What an incredible addition to my home gym! Being that space is limited in my home gym, I was looking for a dumbbell system that wouldn't take up too much space and would provide me with the weight levels that I wanted. I came across the JAXJOX - DumbbellConnect system and have really been impressed by them. In the box, you get the base station for dumbbells, the dumbbells themselves, weight plates, and charging cable (only the USB power cable and no wall adapter). You have to start off by charging the base station, which took a few hours to come to a full charge. Once fully charged, you place the dumbbells and their plates on the stations and link them to your phone. The app is easy to navigate and has functioned fine so far. There is also a display on the weight station that you can use to adjust for weight level. Being that this is my first time trying a dumbbell system like this I was a bit hesitant. The dumbbells themselves fells like any regular old dumbbell, but the plates are flat on the bottom for accurate docking on the weight station. Aside from the flat bottom, handling of the actual dumbbell feels great. I thought it was going to be too bulky with heavier weights, but it wasn't. I really love using the JAXJOX - DumbbellConnect system. My goal was to get a dumbbell set that would save space and give me higher weight options. I saw that Costco had a dumbbell set on sale, but I am glad I waited. The JAXJOX - DumbbellConnect system saves so much space and goes from a weight variation of: 8, 14, 20, 26, 32, 38, 44, 50 lbs! This is incredible from a system like this. I am really happy with the JAXJOX - DumbbellConnect . I would definitely recommend this system to anyone!

First and foremost... this packing is HEAVY considering there's a pair of dumbbells inside. Inside is tightly packed and very straight forward packaging. Easy to setup and pairing to the JAXJOX app. Easy to use and adjust to the desire weight. The app is a plus and keeps tabs on reps and offers workout videos through it's paid premium service. While it's nice... I just use the app to track daily reps instead. I didn't have connectivity issues or any issues whatsoever. Pretty straight forward operation. I would look into getting more JAXJOX sets and have that in home setup. Thanks.

I have wanted a set of these types of dumbbells for a while now, but the price had always deterred me from buying them. These are in a great price range compared to others and I think a lot of people would be able to afford these for their home gym. Right out of the box they were very easy to set up. I just wish that they would have shipped each dumbbell in a separate box. Would have made it a lot easier to carry down to our gym in the basement. Not to mention our FedEx delivery person probably would have really appreciated it as well! Anyway, once you get them out of the box you simply slide the plates onto the base and then put the main bar in the center. Them you just repeat it for the other set. I have them permanently plugged into the wall, but they can also be charged and used without having to be plugged into the wall as well. There is a companion app that we downloaded for our iPhone (there is a android one too) and found it to be very helpful. It is a central hub that lets you control your devices and track a whole bunch of data like your reps, sets, the different weights you used and lots more! It even comes with a bunch of workout plans that you can use as well. Although that is a extra feature that you have to pay for. But it does come with a free 30 day trial so you can try it out and see if its something you want to continue. I found both the app and weight set to work perfectly! There is also a small display on the front of the bases that you can just set your weight if you don't want to bother going through the app. So that makes it very quick and easy to use! I find myself using that more than anything because I already have a lot of workout routines that I already use. But it is nice to have the option of both. Overall, this is a VERY solid weight set and I have a feeling it will be in my gym for many, many, many years to come! Now I can get rid of all the different weight sets I have and make my home gym a lot less cluttered. Definitely give these a look if you are looking for an adjustable dumbbell set.

Good weights, flexibility app a little tricky

This is my fist set of adjustable weights/dumbbells. I have been wanting to try for a while since steel dumbbells get pricey as they get heavy (more than $1/LB adds up). Getting these to 50 LB is nice and a set to boot. Now the tricky part is the app use adjustment and getting the weights in and out of the base. They can be a little tight to fit. Now here are some details. The set comes out of the box in pieces. 2 bars, 32 plates (approx 6 lb ea), 2 bases and 2 usb cords (you need your own charging brick, none provided - I recommend one w/ a double USB port to plug both in one outlet) The weights require power to use/adjust. The weights can be adjusted manually from the buttons on the base or wirelessly from the app. I tried both Android and IOS. Both work but the IOS setup and function was smoother. The app is a little tough to control (you slide the weights up/down but it's tough to get the exact weight the first time). When using the base buttons you do one bar at a time, when you use the app, it does both bars to the same weight at the same time. There's the digital part. Here's the use part. These are magnetic driven. The base moved the magnetic bar through the plates to add/subtract weight. (I am not 100% confident these won't slide off while overhead if jostled too much - however they did not while I was using them) The plates have a groove to slide in to lock together when the magnet bar slides so you have to set them exactly in the groove and it may take a try or two to get it right. Lifting out is no problem. I have not tried other adjustable sets to compare. For what I expected out of these they seem average to above average. For the added weight flexibility I say above average.. I would recommend these

I am a novice at weight lifting and was looking forward to these weights and the classes to help get healthier. The weights and its accompanying app work well. It is great to be able to set the weight and the base puts the correct weight on. (The individual weights are "stacked" on the hub and app extends the bars appropriately so that the correct weight is on.) This is very convenient. The classes that are available are quite limited as far as just these weights are concerned. It is set up for the entire gym and other pieces of equipment. Few classes were for just these weights. Cancelled that subscription. These weights DO NOT COME WITH plug in only a USB C cord which I thought was absolutely crazy.

This has been a great dumbbell set so far. The weights can be adjusted individually on the stand itself, or through the app. Setup wasn't too bad, but getting the 110lb box in the house first was a workout in itself. Once set up, just charge each base and you will be ready to go. Start up and weight adjustments are quick and easy. The dumbbells feel solid and like they will last for quite a while. I would not recommend dropping them on the ground or throwing them around, but they still have a sturdy build to them. The app is easy to use and navigate. The thing I like the most is through the app, when you adjust weights, it will adjust both of them at the same time, saving time adjusting weights individually. The build in workout subscription is intuitive and easy to use as well. It will walk you through all the movements and reps, and weight can be adjusted on the fly to your own fitness level. I would definitely recommend this flexible, easy to use dumbbell set!

The JAXJOX DumbbellConnect smart dumbbells are another example of how everything is becoming smart-enabled nowadays, but in this case, it actually makes a lot of sense given the benefits that are gained from having a set of smart dumbbells. First, it should be noted that the way this product was packaged was surprisingly well thought out and did a great job of protecting all of the contents. Given the overall weight of the product as a whole (well over 100 pounds since it contains two dumbbells, associated weights for a maximum of 50 pounds each, plus the docks), I was a little worried that something might get damaged in transit but that was not the case and I doubt anyone will experience any such issues due to the exceptional packaging design. This is important because any damage to any of the sensors used for changing the weights would essentially make the entire product useless since the main point is being able to change weights at the push of a button and there is no other way to manually add or remove weight from the dumbbells. This is a bit concerning because if anything ever does happen to the sensors or the docks just from normal use, wear, and tear over time, you’d be stuck with dumbbells that can no longer adjust. I’m hoping this won’t be a problem in the near future and I’m going to give JAXJOX the benefit of the doubt. The ability to easily change weight almost instantly at the push of a button on either my phone or the LCD screen means so much space is saved compared to having individual dumbbells at various weights. This is what really makes this product stand out. You have to make sure everything is aligned properly in the dock but it isn’t that difficult and the weight really does adjust much faster than I had anticipated. As for the phone app, I experimented with it a bit and it may come in handy for some people who want to use it for tracking their workouts and/or taking classes by subscribing to the premium service that is available but none of that is really for me. Overall, as long as the JAXJOX DumbbellConnect holds up over time, I think this is a great product and I recommend it for anyone looking to save some space while still having a full set of various-weight dumbbells.

This dumbbell set is very easy to use. On the LED screen, you select your weight in set increments and the weights are connected. Wights range form 8-50 pounds. They slide in and out of the base very smoothly. You get the function of multiple dumbbells in one device saving space. There is an app that gives you a way to track exercises and learn new ones. The base does not have to be plugged in at all times, it is rechargeable. It's a great complement to my workout room. One advice when setting up, regardless of the battery level, plug it in. It ships in sleep mode and must be activated. I spent 20 minutes figuring that out and their web site explained this. No issues using these so far.

    Smart dumbbells that look normal

One of my first purchases when the lockdowns started was a set of B*wflex adjustable dumbbells, because I needed weights to keep my workouts going at home. They're probably the most well known, well recognized adjustable sets on the market, and for good reason. However, the connectors are unfortunately plastic, so if you tend to drop your weights on the ground after sets, they're prone to failure. Also, when you look at the rack, they scream "adjustable dumbbells" because the weight plates stick out like ridges of a pinecone unless you're maxed out. The Jaxjox weights appear (pun intended) to be the future. Looks: The weight plates are full circular, and they attach flatly when you increase weights. So there's no gaps between the plates. This allows the weight to be even, but also looks more solid during use. So basically, when sitting next to regular old dumbbells, you won't be able to tell a difference. Also, in line with other adjustable weights, they take up very very minimal footprint in my garage gym. Adjustability: I'm mixed here. Part of the benefit of being fully manual is there are less parts to break. No circuitry to fail. My other brand dumbbells are dumb dumbbells, no electronics, so even if the power is out or whatnot, it doesn't affect use. With that being said, the Jaxjox weights adjust at the push of a button. You dial in the weight, and they automatically adjust. Super fast and easy. App: wow. looks super sleek. you select your gender, weight, height, and fitness goals, and the app logs your progress. Multiple workouts to select from, and syncs to your weights via bluetooth. Overall: super sleek space-saving weight set that looks like a regular dumbbell. The app does require a "premium" subscription to access the full features, but even the basic app is good enough for monitoring your progress.

I will say in the digital age this is a really cool set. After a bit of issue in getting them set up with the app (really should read the complete instructions) they work flawlessly. They are a bit larger than I expected however not enough to be a problem. The connection to power can be a bit of a problem if you don’t have ready access but that’s easy to solve. As for the app it easy to use, that being said I did not use any of the pay features so can’t comment on there value. All in all this is a good set of weights. The only issues is do you want to pay the extra for the “coolness” feature of auto adjust and app connects

With the increase in workout equipment the JaxJox Dumbbell Connect definitely comes in handy. The ability of having access to 16 different dumbbells is something that typically is blocked behind a gym membership. The jaxjox dumbbell connect ranges from 8lbs all the way up to 50lbs. They are very easy to assemble for the first initial use and changing weights during workouts is even easier. The dumbells are made very well. Nothing seems cheap or low quality. You can use them on their own or with the Jaxjox connect app. I prefer them without the app but all in all my workouts have gotten a lot better with these dumbbells.

The app is laiden with a ton of ads trying to sell additional products from the maker and I felt like I was looking for a needle in a haystack just to find the dumbbells. Once I got past the ads I was ok with getting the app working but it's really not a clean experience. On the opposite side, the weights are very well made and feel as though they will last. I realize it's 2021, but I cant help but wonder now - is this one item that wasn't ever meant to be paired with technology? The weights I would recommend to a friend, with the caveat that the app is a take it or leave it side-note.

My wife got me these for Christmas and I was excited to try them out. First impressions plates look good base is plastic as has a clean and legit look. The handle for the dumbell is good size. Packaged well. My tune immediately changed when I found out both bases need to be plugged in and charged. Doesnt work unless the base has power and is turned on. On top of that they supposedly give you two chargers one for each base but all they give you is two USB to C-port cables. No adapters. For a product that is suppose to change the game and offer a new method for this price, you would think the least they can do is give you two ready to use chargers, adapter and all. Very disappointing. Aside from that not bad.
