Great Potential but, sadly, too many problems

I purchased these for my wife as a gift because neither of us like the idea of spending $180-230 on Bose or Apple wireless earbuds. The sale price of a little more than 50% off seemed reasonable so I jumped on it and crossed my fingers.
First impressions are very good. The physical appearance and build quality appears solid. The feature set (ANC, wireless charging, etc) for the price is good (even "great" at the sale price). The sound quality is very good for the price point, especially with the app able to modify the sound profile. The auto shut off function when removing one earbud is handy and works well.
So, why the 2 star review?
Well, these do have a seemingly handy wireless charge case to extend battery life of the buds... and a seemingly nice app that allows tweaking the sound profile and changing how the manual touch/tap on each earbud works. The ANC (automatic noise canceling) isn't as good as more expensive options on the market, but works pretty well and has a modifiable intensity to allow more or less ambiant sound in. ANC is the chief conceit of this model and the only reason to consider this model rather than the step down model which normally cost $40 less. At the sale price, this ANC model was seemingly a no brainer.
Unfortunately, "Seemingly" is the key word. We've only had these roughly 3 weeks and we now have 4 major problems:
1) The Air ANC charge case no longer works consistently on any of our charge pads around the house. It showed signs of charging problems in the first week of ownership using a charging stand...so we tried a different brand/type of charge pad which worked for the past 10 days or so. We thought "problem solved, must have been an incompatibility with the other brand/type of charge stand". Today, the Air ANC stopped reliably charging on any of our wireless charge pads (all of our wireless stands/pads charge our iPhones without issue).
2) The second big problem is the Jlab Air ANC app on her iPhone XS is extremely buggy (it works better on my Sony Android, but this was to be a gift for my wife, not me). The iPhone app has 2 major problems (which you can quickly see are both highly common by checking the Apple app store, where the app is rated 1.8 out of 5 stars): first, it won't properly update the firmware of the earbuds and gets "stuck" and, worse, once able to properly update after a few tries, the app crashes every time within 1-3 seconds, making it completely useless. Without the app, these earbuds are functionally no better than the less expensive step-down model without noise canceling (I was able to update and use the app properly on my Android phone but, again, these were meant for her not me).
3) The third major flaw we've noted is that the sound has occasional skips every 30-60 minutes with both earbuds in. Far worse, the sound skips way more frequently - about one skip every 1-2 minutes (!) - when using only one earbud at a time. I am in the process of trying to duplicate these problems with my Android (and my own IPhone SE as well), but generally speaking these earbuds seem to have major issues with iPhones (or at least the iPhone XS).
4) The 4th major flaw we've noticed is that unlike other Bluetooth devices, the Jlab Air ANC seems to be a "dominant" Bluetooth connection in that it overtakes every other BT on our device lists even when we don't want it to. In order to use our iPhones with other BT devices we have to force the iPhone to "forget" the Air ANC on the device list. Otherwise, the Air ANC will interrupt the connection with other devices and re-connect itself (even when in their charging case, which is crazy bc they are supposed to "shut off" when inserted into the charge case).
Taken individually, one of the above problems might be acceptable/manageable at the sale price of ~$48. But put together, these flaws are too much and sadly mean these will have to be returned. I am aware we may have gotten a "lemon" in terms of the charge case and sound skipping problems, so we might try an exchange for another pair. But it seems the problems with the iPhone App and update/crashing issues are universal, so be aware of that if you are an iPhone user.
At the regular price of $100 none of these issues are acceptable (or, frankly, even at the sale price). I would say the sale price of these should be the regular price even if these problems are fixed. I'll update this review if we decide to try a replacement rather than go for a different brand right away.

Hey there, thank you for such a detailed review. It sounds like you have experienced some sort of manufacturer defect for the issues you had. Additionally, we just sent out a robust app update which has solved the bugs that were mentioned. If you don't mind, we'd love for you to reach out so we can troubleshoot your problems or replace your pair under warranty. New to earbuds... Obtained these earbuds to replace a pair of another mfg. that did not work after 2 days...
New to earbuds and concerned about keeping them in ear or losing them. So far.. so good and seem to be very comfortable.
I have had JLab headsets (over ear) and very happy with those and been very reliable for 3 1/2 years and looking forward to long term use of these buds!

These are really great earbuds. I have had many over the years and these far exceed every other one. You MUST download an app to your phone to set up the earbuds, but it is relatively painless. Deep, rich bass with subtle nuances you wouldn't normally hear with other earbuds. I was amazed to say the least! Enjoy!!!

I purchased these for my wife, she had been wanting some ANC earbuds. She loves the features of the OTE ANC headphones but doesn't like them sitting on her ears. Man, the smile she gave as soon as she turned them on and activated the ANC..The music quality is on par with a $200 pair of buds. Trust me you won't be disappointed.

The sound quality is decent. It also offers good features - change volumes, modes, etc. However, its noise-canceling function is virtually nonexistent. Mine also has a connectivity issue - it is very common to get glitches in some irregular moments.
