No customer support
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this keyboard last weekend. It will only connect via 2.4gHz dongle. Bluetooth will not connect. I've tried connecting to multiple computers. My problem isn't really with the keyboard, it's with the JLab customer service. I started a ticket and was asked to give more info. After providing the requested info, they asked for the same info again. I have now sent 4 messages, but have gotten no help in response. I've tried multiple times to use their chat system during hours posted on their website, but the chat system does not seem to be manned. Totally frustrated and will be returning the keyboard.

KEYBOARD BACKLIGHTING PROBLEM
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This keyboard is good EXCEPT that the keyboard backlighting shuts off only 6 seconds after you stop typing. The user then has to press a random key to turn it back on. This basic design flaw is inexplicable. And tech support does not give any solution.

Versatile Keyboard with Several Nice Features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it comes to computer keyboards, there are a lot of things to consider. What is it going to be used for? How does it feel? Can I use it for gaming? These are all just a few of the questions that may be asked. With this latest iteration of keyboards from JLab, they have come up with highly versatile and customizable unit for work and play. Inside the box you have everything that you need to get started. There is the keyboard itself along with a USB-C cord and USB-C dongle. The dongle is very small and thin so it will not add very much dimension to your computer. So you have 3 ways to connect to your computer. You can go direct line, use the dongle, or even connect via Bluetooth. In all you can connect to three devices. Connecting to a computer is fast and easy. It literally takes seconds even if pairing to a Bluetooth system. Perhaps the most annoying part about the setup for me was removing the white protective cover from the top strip of the keyboard. The white tape strip left residue on the keyboard and tore off in several placing making removal harder that it should have been. I eventually removed all of the tape and had the keyboard looking nice. As far as mechanical keyboards go, this keyboard is one of the lighter ones I have tried. At first I was a little thrown off by that, but it really had no effect. I am a little concerned though with the structure. Being a mechanical keyboard, there is a sizable gap between the bottom of the keys and the actual base of the keyboard. This is certainly enough for dirt or dust to get in, but I am more worried that it could lead to a key breaking. It just feels like a key could easily be broken off. I did not have this happen, but it is a potential problem. Typing on the keyboard was a little adjustment. At first, the keys felt a bit slit. I got used to it quickly. It is just the plastic nature of the keys. Also, in my mind I was just expecting a different feel for a mechanical keyboards. It is different from others I have used. But I quickly got over that. The keys are very fast and surprisingly quiet for a mechanical keyboard. I started to prefer this keyboard over the other mechanical ones I was using. The keyboard has some very nice features. As mentioned, you can connect to up to 3 different devices. This makes cleaning that clutter off your desk much easier. The keyboard is also backlit which I consider an essential feature any more. However, I you want a keyboard that is going to light up in 256 different colors and add super flair to your system, this one isn't it. Another nice feature is you do not have to add a bunch of batteries to the keyboard. The internal rechargeable battery lasts up to 1-year. When you need to charge it, simply plug it in a let it recharge. So to break it down at a high level, the cons I have for this keyboard are 1) having to deal with annoying white tape strip when unpacking, 2) keys are elevated which could lead to keyboard damage or a key breaking off, and 3) lack of additional colors to chose from for keyboard lighting. The pros for this keyboard are 1) the ability to connect to three different devices, 2) lightweight, mechanical keyboard, 3) backlighting for keyboard, 4) extremely quiet, mechanical keyboard, and 5) nice, long-lasting, rechargeable battery. In the end, I really like the new JLAb Epic Mechanical Advanced Multi-device Wireless Keyboard. The ability to connect to up to three devices is just too valuable to me. I can use it to both work and play. The keyboard is quick and responsive. I recommend it for any application from office, to student, to play.

Decent Keyboard
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a surprisingly good keyboard. First, let's start with the basics. The box includes the keyboard, a 2.4 GHz USB-C dongle, and a charging cable. At first glance, the keyboard does look quite nice. After connecting the keyboard to my PC using the USB-C adapter (this was an easy process; all I had to do was plug it in), I tested out the keyboard. I had a similar typing speed as my old keyboard, which tells me that this is a decent keyboard for me. I find the many different functions that are directly on the keyboard very useful. For example, I can lock my computer or open settings with the press of a button. Once I had the keyboard set up, I downloaded the JLab Work app. I found it to be underwhelming. It looks like it was made 10-15 years ago and doesn't have nearly as many options as competitors at the same price such as Razer. For example, I can reprogram any key on my Razer Ornata V2 keyboard. The actual keyboard is much better here, but if you care about the software experience, then other brands might be better. One thing that I love on this keyboard is the volume wheel. It feels so satisfying and actually changes the volume at set intervals. I was a little worried about the device switching feature. Looking at reviews of the non-mechanical version of this keyboard, it can be a bit unreliable. On this keyboard, however, JLab seems to have fixed that. It's a seamless transition between 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth. It only takes about 5 seconds to setup. Overall, this is a decent keyboard and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good mechanical keyboard.

Freedom from KVM
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is very interesting what JLAB did to this keyboard. Not only have they added all the different ways you can connect to a computer such as a dongle, cord, and Bluetooth but they also added the ability to connect to multiple computers. I've always used KVMs to manage the many computers I have or just used multiple keyboards but all that is a big mess and consumes a lot of space. I do have a mouse that connects to up to two computers and along with one of my monitors that has multiple input ports, it almost meets all the requirements for me to get rid of the KVM except for one reason. But now with this keyboard, I don't see any need of a KVM anymore. It works with my DVR, my gaming desktop computer, my laptop, and even with my tablet. All modern keyboards should have backlighting and volume control. Those are a must for me because I not always have the lights on when I'm working or playing on my computer at night, and because controlling the volume by clicking on the taskbar and sliding a virtual volume control is not very practical. JLAB took care of that too. There is only one thing that many people might not like very much but I have a conflicting opinion about it. I couldn't confirm but it seems that the built-in Bluetooth is class 3 instead of Class 2 or 1. That means that it has a very short range and the higher the class, the lower the range. So, if you have a computer connected to a TV for instance (I have one, but it came with its own wireless keyboard), you might experience issues with connectivity. However, that's usually not an issue as most people will use it closer than ten feet to their device. In fact, the shorter range might be a good thing because it prevents it from affecting other Bluetooth devices that might be very sensitive to interference such as AirPods and other wireless headsets. In my case, the range is fine, and I haven't experienced any issues yet. Overall, I like almost everything about this keyboard including the quality as it's well built and feels premium, but I can't deny that my excitement is mostly because of the multiple-device capability. It gave me freedom.

Overpriced, doesn't hold charge
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After using the keyboard for about a month it will no longer hold a charge. Charged it a few times from my computer now anytime I disconnect the cable the battery drains almost instantly. Its a cool keyboard but not worth $100+ for it to break that quickly.

New wireless multi device keyboard from JLab
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The JLab Epic wireless keyboard is a nice keyboard allowing multiple device use with this touch of a key. You can connect up to three devices for use with this keyboard 2 Bluetooth and 1 wifi through the USB dongle. The keyboard also includes three profile keys that allow you to change the setup of the keyboard for three different applications. The keyboard is a full size keyboard with three programmable keys and a volume control knob. The Bluetooth is version 5.2 USB. The keyboard has an aluminum frame with fairly flat low-rise keys. They do not give the type of feedback that I prefer, but you may like it. The keyboard feel resembles a premium laptop keyboard. The backlit keys are great and allow you to see the key symbols in dimmer light. The one advantage of the softer keys is they do not make a lot of noise during use. The keyboard has a 2000 milliamp hour battery that is rechargeable using any charger with a USB C connector. Jlab advertises a 10 plus months of battery life during normal use. This is a good choice if you want a wireless keyboard especially if you want to use it with multiple devices.

A Versatile, Satisfying Keyboard
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The JLAB Epic mechanical multi-Device wireless keyboard is fantastic, and offers some features I did not know I needed, now I might not be able to live without. First and foremost, though, I do love that this can be connected via Bluetooth or a USB dongle. The biggest reason I like that is because I work on computers, and when a computer needs to get into a diagnostic mode, such as safe mode, if a Bluetooth keyboard has not already been paired with the computer, then you are out of luck if you've only got Bluetooth. Having the USB dongle as a backup is a big plus for me. The keyboard itself feels really good when typing, and is very quiet. That's a good thing for me, but if you like the clickety clack of some keyboards, this might not be for you. On the keyboard itself, you will find all the typical keys, but you will also find three keys that can be customized, a media knob, and then three buttons to switch between the USB dongle and two Bluetooth devices. This is the feature I did not know I needed, but now I am hooked. I have a work computer at the same place as my personal computer. I used to have two keyboards, but since this one can so easily switch between them, I'm able to eliminate an entire keyboard. Another feature I am a fan of on this is that it has internal rechargeable batteries, and it states they will last about a year.

Perfect Office Keyboard
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great light weight easy to connect keyboard that is perfect I find for office use, and doesn't require anything fancy to get it working. Setup was striaght forward I plugged the dongle for the wireless connection into a USB-C port and was typing no issue, saw the special keys to open things like calculator (handy for me) and the media knob without issue. Jlabs says there battery will last a year, not sure on that, but I have been using it a solid 2 weeks in the office and still has not complained about low battery unlike some other wireless keyboards I've had so that is a huge win for me, less charging. Also its nice that you connect to another device via bluetooth and cable because for work occasnionally I do have to switch between devices and doing it on the fly from one keyboard is great, now if only I could get my mouse to do the same. The switches are linear, so if your more into the click then these switches aren't the ones you are looking for. However if you want a smooth typing experience with excellent battery and able switch between devices even phones this is the keyboard you are looking for.

Nice keyboard, but not perfect for a Mac
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am always on the lookout for a mechanical Mac keyboard. When I saw this one, I was hoping it would fit the bill. Unfortunately, it did not work as well as I would have hoped. As far as the keyboard itself is concerned, the keys have a nice feel to them. The keyboard is quiet and I would describe it as being a low profile keyboard (definitely "shorter" than some other mechanical keyboards I have used). I thought it was interesting that connecting the keyboard via a USB-C cable did nothing as far as connectivity is concerned. It looks like the USB-C port on the keyboard is for charging only; it cannot be used for communication between the keyboard and the computer. To obtain full functionality, you have to use the included dongle. The dongle is pretty small and easy to lose, so be mindful of where you put it. There is no storage location for it on the keyboard (unless you simply plug it into the USB-C port that is there on the keyboard for charging, which is what I wound up doing). Once the dongle is installed, turn on the keyboard and the computer sees it... Pretty simple. There is an application that you can use to customize the functionality of the keyboard. This is where I was disappointed. You have to use a key combination to toggle the keyboard between Mac, PC, and Android. Not a big deal, I suppose. After switching over to Mac, however, I still found myself having to use the "function" key any time I wanted to use one of the top row shortcuts. Additionally, the F4 shortcut did not open up my applications page as it does with every other Mac keyboard I have used. Even after going through the customization software, I could not seem to add this functionality to the keyboard. (The little cheat sheet that is packed with the keyboard indicates that Fn + F4 should show applications, but it did not.) This is a feature I use multiple times a day and cannot live without, making this keyboard a "no go" for me. The keyboard claims to last up to a year on its battery, but I would have no idea about that given that I have only had the keyboard for a few days. The backlighting is good, but monochrome (one color only... white). The lighting defaults to turning off after a few seconds. This can be changed in the software. (Backlighting helps in a dark environment and having to hit a key to turn on the lighting kind of defeats the purpose of having the lighting to begin with, to an extent.) If I was using this keyboard with a Windows-based PC, I am guessing my experience would have been a little better. So, what is my final verdict? Again, it is a nice keyboard with a good feel to the keys. The functionality with a Mac, however, is a shortcoming that I was not able to overlook as there are other better options out there.

Solid keyboard
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Alright, let's dive into the JLab Epic Mechanical Keyboard. I've been typing away on this thing for a while now, and I've got some thoughts. First off, the "mechanical" part is key here. If you're used to membrane keyboards, you'll immediately notice the difference. The keys have a satisfying tactile bump and audible click, which is exactly what you want from a mechanical keyboard. It gives you that precise, responsive feel that's great for both typing and gaming. JLab offers different switch options, and the one I'm using has a nice balance of tactile feedback and clickiness. They're not overly loud, which is good if you're working in a shared space, but they still provide that satisfying "click-clack" that mechanical keyboard enthusiasts love. The build quality is surprisingly solid for the price. It doesn't feel cheap or flimsy. The keyboard has a decent weight to it, so it stays put on your desk. The keycaps are also well-made and feel comfortable under your fingers. One of the standout features is the RGB backlighting. It's vibrant and customizable, allowing you to create a personalized look. You can choose from various lighting effects and colors, and adjust the brightness to your liking. The software, while basic, allows for a decent amount of customization. The layout is standard, so you won't have to spend a lot of time getting used to it. The keys are well-spaced, and the function keys are easily accessible. Now, there are a few things to consider. While the build quality is good, it's not quite as premium as some of the higher-end mechanical keyboards on the market. The plastic casing is functional, but it doesn't have the same heft and finish as aluminum or other premium materials. The software, as mentioned, is basic. It gets the job done for customizing the lighting, but it lacks some of the advanced features you might find in more sophisticated keyboard software. Also, the included USB cable isn't braided, which is a minor detail, but some users prefer braided cables for their durability. However, for its price point, the JLab Epic Mechanical Keyboard delivers a lot of value. It offers a satisfying mechanical typing experience, customizable RGB backlighting, and solid build quality. If you're looking for an affordable mechanical keyboard that doesn't skimp on the essentials, this is a great option. It's a solid entry into the world of mechanical keyboards, and it's perfect for both casual typists and gamers who want a responsive and customizable keyboard without breaking the bank.

This Is An Excellent Mechanical Keyboard From JLAB
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really enjoy using mechanical keyboards when working with my computer and was excited to try out and review JLAB's new Epic Mechanical Advanced Multi-Device Wireless Keyboard. This keyboard is very nicely designed and is a full-sized keyboard, not some cut down special purpose device for gaming or other purposes. The JLAB keyboard has the following features: Connects via Bluetooth (two choices) or USB Dongle Allows switching between three devices Has quiet mechanical keyboard switches Comes with a rechargeable battery lasting up to one year per charge Provides illuminated low-profile keys with a number pad Has an easy-access media knob for volume or to move/skip forward or backward Supports Windows, IOS, Android and Chrome operating systems and features OS shortcut keys Also has 12 function shortcut keys and 3 customizable keys An on/off switch is located at the top lefthand corner on the face of the keyboard Two rubberized feet on the bottom of the keyboard allows elevating the keyboard for two different heights Has rubberized pads on the bottom of the keyboard two prevent slippage while it is being used A battery indicator is also located on the upper face of the keyboard: Green indicates 100% to 20% power left while Red indicates less than 20% battery power left. When recharge is needed, a USB-C cord included can be used to repower the keyboard. Overall, I really like this new JLAB keyboard. It is well built and is nicely designed.

Quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I still work from home a few days per week, and was on the lookout for a wireless keyboard for my home set-up My last one was wired, and on it's last legs since 2020 When I saw the JLab, I remembered the other products like their headphones that exceeded my expectations and were offered at a reasonable price, so I gave this one a try Unboxing was simple and there was just enough packaging to protect and not to much to fill a recycle bin Inside there was a simple connection card, but if you have done this before, you should be good The keyboard has some "heft" and does not move around like the cheaper plastic ones Where this one shines is the tactile key feel. They keys are slightly raised and have a positive click to confirm an entry. This brings you back to the days of the old IBM keyboards that were the benchmark for decades I chose to use the dongle to set it up, and after pitting into the docking station, the computer imeddiatly recognized it and it was ready. You do have a bluetooth option, but since I had a USB C available, I went that route. You also don not need to wake it up, and there is no lag

Decent enough keyboard, but not for serious typing
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.GOOD - Affordable price for a mechanical keyboard - Backlit keys - Multi-device compatibility and device pairing memories - Semi-customizable - Removeable keycaps BAD - Can't operate in wired mode - NumLock indicator blinks instead of staying lit - Keystroke and activation aren't as crisp as Cherry MX switches - Navigation panel ( Ins, Del, Home, End, PgUp, PgDn ) layout different than standard TLDR The JLab Epic is a great utilitarian upgrade over stock keyboards with SIO desktops. For around $70 you get a mechanical keyboard that works with all your computers and mobile devices. But it doesn't have the crisp feeling you can get with nicer mechanical switches. Discerning touch typists and those that spend a lot of time working with a keyboard will be let down. DETAILS The JLab Epic Wireless keyboard is a very simple idea executed well: a strong base and frame mated with backlit mechanical switches and sold for a very reasonable price. The wireless receiver uses a type-C connection and is quite small. You can tell it was made to connect to a laptop and just leave there permanently. Due to the small size, it can actually be somewhat hard to remove in some instances. You certainly wouldn't want to use it on the recessed rear panel of a normal desktop computer. Also, the keyboard operates only in wireless mode, either wireless USB or Bluetooth. The included wire is only used for charging the keyboard; it can't operate in wired mode alone. The keyboard uses three memory keys to quickly switch between the USB dongle and up to two Bluetooth paired devices. The volume dial works well, and it has a satisfying click when you press it in for play/pause control. The dial can also be used for next and previous track using double- and long-click patterns, controls that are more often found on touch sensitive earbuds. But this is odd. Those functions are already on the F8 and F9 keys by default, so having them also on the volume dial seems superfluous. However, this is also a full-size keyboard, and there's plenty of room up top to add dedicated media control keys instead of doubling up on other keys. Another oddity is the NumLock key. While the CapsLock key will change its backlight to green to indicate it's turned on, the NumLock key does not. Instead it only blinks green ( 3x for off, 2x for on ) then goes back to its normal white light. JLab offers software for the keyboard which allows minimal customization of the keys ( the top row of shortcut keys and the three top keys of the navigation group ), and can control the backlight intensity and duration, but that's it. You can also store three profiles, but this isn't like a gaming keyboard that can change the keymap profiles on the fly. The keycaps use a standard circle-plus stem so you should be able to change out the keycaps if you want. The feel of the switches is a little soft compared to a good Cherry MX Blue or Brown. It's not quite as crisp as though switches, though it's loads better than typical membrane switches. This keyboard does have one potential deal-breaker in the six navigation key cluster. These six keys don't have the standard layout, and instead put the Delete, Page Up, and Page Down keys on the bottom. The top row, labeled 1, 2, and 3, are Insert, Home, and End. For touch typists that regularly use these keys for navigating documents or code, this non-standard layout is unacceptable. It would have been much better by far had JLab simply kept this cluster in its normal layout and let all six of them been customizable.

Excellent for productivity
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before getting this keyboard, I was only aware of JLab's audio products. This has been a pretty great introduction to the rest of their product lineup. While I do wish the included USB-C dongle had a USB-A adapter, the keyboard has otherwise been very versatile. Swapping between the USB transceiver and the two Bluetooth slots means I can use just this one keyboard to control my whole entertainment center. The keycaps feel nice to the touch, and the switches aren't bad either. I'm also a fan of having the power switch on the top, so I can tell if it's on at a glance even if the backlight is off. There are also included key layouts for Windows, Android, and Mac; which is appreciated. While the top of the keyboard is metal, the back of it is made of plastic - this helps keep it lightweight while still feeling nice to the touch. That's something nice to have for a keyboard I'm regularly swapping between devices. So, overall, I'm a pretty big fan of this keyboard. It's got all the features that make a good utility keyboard, but still looks good and feels good. I'd not necessarily recommend this as a dedicated gaming keyboard, but if you need a keyboard to hook up to multiple devices I would absolutely recommend this.

Good Feel, Mediocre Connection
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been waiting to find a wireless mechanical keyboard to use for work for a long time and I really thought this might be the keyboard I'd been waiting for. But sadly I tried using it for a few weeks and it just isn't going to cut it. The build quality is great, it feels very sturdy and the keys travel just like you'd expect a mechanical keyboard to travel. Typing on this keyboard is one of the most satisfying typing experiences in a long time. You can connect this keyboard on up to 3 devices; one with the included dongle and two more connected directly to bluetooth. Switching between the devices is as easy as clicking one of the three dedicated buttons on the keyboard. This keyboard also works on mac, android, and PC. You can easily switch the layout using the function keys on the keyboard. My only problem has been connection with my Mac. Several times throughout the day if I don't type for a little while, when I start typing again the first few letters of the first word won't register from the keystrokes. I'm not sure if this is a connection issue or powersaver issue. But regardless it makes using this keyboard less than ideal. Overall, while I love the feel of using the keyboard the connectivity issues make it hard to recommend.
