Excellent speaker, deep bass, solid app
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had a few bluetooth speakers over the years so I pretty much knew what to expect, and the jlab epic party speaker did not disappoint. In the box you get the speaker, which is very nicely packaged in a kind of faux-cloth bag,(would've been cool if it were an actual bag with a drawstring, but whatever), a dedicated charger, and some documentation. The speaker is pretty hefty, I was surprised by the weight, but the big drivers and chunky sub are what gives this thing that heft and it's signature sound. So let's get to it. How does it sound? Loud. As all get out. But also clean. Even when cranked to max it doesn't lose clarity on the highs and lows. Oh I'm using the flat EQ setting btw, the default sound signature is that awful bass-heavy that seems so popular today - and honestly that's probably what most people are going for. I've actually been using this for a ton of different listening situations, and I'm very impressed. Connected it to my phone to put it through it's paces, same with my tv and computer. I'm almost ready to connect it to my pc as a sound system replacement, it's that good. Uh what else, the app is alright. Nothing too fancy. You can customize your EQ settings and play with the LEDs (i leave them off, but it's kind of fun), as well as sync up a ton of jlab speakers. This is the only one I have so didn't test that out, but from what I've seen in review videos it works. Aside from that there's nothing really to the app. I've received maybe a dozen notifications from it marketing other products at me so I uninstalled it. Once you've got your EQ set and any updates installed you don't really need it anyway. Oh yeah, a note about bluetooth pairing. Pairing works fine, but it seems to create a hierarchy of devices it's connect to. I pair the speaker to my phone first for setup and testing. I cannot pair it to another device, even when I've told my phone to disconnect. The speaker seems to be listening and waiting for the connection to my phone to be accepted and it will not pair with anything else until I fully disable bluetooth. After that though it pairs to anything, but then you have to go about it in reverse. E.G. Disabled BT on my phone, paired the speaker to my ipad. Powered the speaker down. Enabled bluetooth on phone. Powered the speaker on. Speaker connects to phone. The expected behavior would be for the speaker to pair with the last connected device, but it doesn't. It always connects to my phone first. Strange, but not really a problem. Just turn of bluetooth when you're connecting to a new device and you're sorted. Other thoughts: I didn't try out all the features on this thing. I haven't connected a mic to it to test it's PA functionality because I don't have that kind of mic and also I would never do that. I can't really speak to the charge time on it either since mine came with a nearly full battery (kind of odd) and I haven't got close to needing to charge it yet. That said, I have used it to charge a few devices (1 at a time) and that works great. I love the idea of this functioning as a portable power bank since this speaker will be going everywhere with me. I also used aux-in to connect it to my pc which worked perfectly, though the wireless connection worked perfectly as well (no lag). Overall I'm very pleased with this speaker. I've already had it outside a few times doing some spring cleanup around the house and I love it. It would be great at a worksite, a beach, cookout, or anything really. Only problem you'll have is people fighting over who gets to control the music.

Unbeatable Value!!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been hunting for a solid party speaker that doesn't cost $400–$500, and after living with the **JLab Epic Party Speaker**, I’m convinced this is the best "bang for your buck" option right now. It has a few quirks, but for the price, it is phenomenal. **The Experience:** The first thing you’ll notice is the **360° sound**. Most of these big tower speakers only blast in one direction, but this thing has drivers all around it. I put it in the middle of my backyard during a BBQ, and everyone could hear the music clearly without it being "too loud" for the people sitting right in front of it. The build quality is also top-tier; the aluminum handle feels like it could survive a drop, and I don't have to panic if it starts drizzling because of the IP56 rating. **The "Catch":** Out of the box, the sound is just "okay." It’s a bit heavy in the middle and feels a little flat. **DO NOT judge this speaker until you download the JLab App.** Once you go into the 10-band EQ and boost the lows and highs, it completely transforms into a beast. --- #### **✅ THE PROS** * **Huge Soundstage:** The 360-degree audio is a game changer for outdoor gatherings. * **Pro Inputs:** It has a 1/4-inch jack for a mic or guitar. We used it for karaoke last weekend and it worked perfectly. * **Built-in Power Bank:** You can charge your phone directly from the speaker via USB-C, which is a lifesaver for long beach days. * **Downward-Firing Sub:** Since the sub points at the ground, it uses the floor to make the bass feel much "thumpier" than it looks. #### **❌ THE CONS** * **Software Quirks:** The "LabSync" (for connecting multiple speakers) can be a bit glitchy. Sometimes the app loses the speaker settings and you have to restart it. * **The 90% Rule:** It sounds crystal clear up to about 80–85% volume. If you crank it to the absolute max, the treble gets a bit "screechy." * **App Dependency:** You really do need the app to make it sound premium; the built-in presets aren't the best. **Final Verdict:** Is it as polished as a $500 JBL? No. But is it 90% as good for less than half the price? **Absolutely.** If you want a rugged, loud speaker with "pro" features on a budget, this is a no-brainer.

Great sound with many options via the APP
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming in at 11.5 pounds this is a serious room or yard filling speaker with great sound at any volume level. It arrived at 70 percent charged and my Android phone discovered it immediately. I was playing music literally minutes upon removing it from the box. A QR code on the side of the box containing the AC adapter lead me to an APP and a manual download. This APP gives me greater control over the speaker. The equalizer has three presets and a custom setting. There are 10 bands that are adjustable. This is more than any other speaker APP I have ever used. There is only a one click check for updates, which one was needed. The APP also contains 15 preset ambient sounds. This is a very well thought out APP. Volume and EQ presets are available on top of the speaker so you don’t always need to use the APP. On the back of the speaker is a ¼ inch microphone input jack, a TRS mini jack AUX input, a USB-C to charge devices and a USB-C to charge the speaker with the included AC adapter. It should be noted that there is no internal mic so when streaming from my phone and I received a call the music paused and I used my phone for the call. This is probably best since I don’t want everyone at the party to hear my conversation :). There is also the ability to sync several speakers together but I only have one at this time. The RGB lighting on the top has a choice of 6 sequences including speed, brightness and color. It is nice but unnecessary in my opinion. I am thoroughly enjoying this speaker and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family. This product has exceeded my expectations for both music and the spoken word.

Amazing Speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this and looking at the picture on the website I thought it would be big, but when it arrived I realized it is HUGE! I charged it for a few hours, registered it on JLab’s website and then paired w/ my devices, which took little to no time at all. That night we had a video night at our Church and the speaker we normally used has some issues, so I bought out the Epic Party Speaker and I must say it was a HIT! The room we watch movies in is a fairly large room (accommodate about 200 people) and I placed this at the front of the room on a small table. I did turn the lights off to not distract from the movie, once it started I had people in the front asking how you turned down the volume, I went to the back of the room and the sound was crystal clear and easy to hear and the volume was only about a 1/4 of the way. This speaker is amazing, its crystal clear and the lights are and added plus. This is by far the best Bluetooth speaker that I have. My son was on Spring Break this past week and he and several friends went to the beach and he took this w/ him. He said it was a hit there as well, to the point most people were amazed at the quality of the sound and the size. JLAB hit a homerun w/ this speaker, it is well worth the cost and I highly recommend it.

JLab impresses again
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.JLab has been my favorite brand of headphones and speakers in recent years by a landslide! This Epic Party Speaker is my largest JLab speaker to date, and wow has it been a fantastic addition. The high quality build and feel to this speaker is even more impressive than I was expecting. The feel of the buttons and the dial on top feel really nice, the base and the rubber grips on the bottom feel heavy duty, and the durable fabric shell of the speaker area is awesome as well. However, I cannot forget to mention the big metal handle on top, picking up this handle and feeling the weight of the speaker, wow, it feels like an absolute beast of a speaker and I have no concerns of the handle breaking, it feels very solid with no flex to it at all. The sound quality of this speaker just meets expectations, I was honestly hoping for a slightly better sound. I used the JLab app and tried to mess with the sound specifications and custom EQ settings to try to fine tune the sound to my preferences but I just have not been able to get it there yet. I am hoping once I start playing this in a large and outdoor area it will sound better because for now, in a smaller indoor area it is just not what I was hoping for. The music so far just has a muddy sound, I would like it to sound a bit clearer, and maybe a bit more bass, even with the Base Boost feature on, it still is not what I would expect from JLab. I specifically got this JLab Epic Party speaker with the intention of using it in the summer months out by the pool and patio area, I am so excited to put the size and power behind this speaker to good use. I also absolutely love that you can plug a USB-C into the back of it and charge a phone or other device when a boost is needed, that is a big plus that will come in handy. Overall, I do love this speaker despite the mediocre sound quality, I am hopeful with some more fine tuning in the settings I can be happy with it! JLab has not disappointed me yet!

Let's Get The Party Started!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So we have been looking for a "Party" type speaker for a while now. Going through several different brands made us realize the definition is very loosely applied. Then along comes the JLab Epic to shake things up. Let's start with the definition of needs. If you need a party speaker for a small enclosure or apartment, move along. Same with if you're looking for auditorium or large hall. With that out of the way this JLab fits the bill for pretty much else. The JLab comes with four full range speakers arranged around the speaker. Contrary to other reviews, it does have a bass speaker (although a "subwoofer" is a stretch). Others have said it has two passive radiators, but one on the bottom truly is a speaker and provides ample bass (for me). It attempts stereo sound but would be better suited if sync'ed with another or several other JLabs. The controls on the top are rubberized to help with the IPS rating. No remote is included but by downloading the JLab app, your phone can fill in for that. The app also allows for one of the three equalized settings, along with the ability to customize your own. The JLab mode is a little jarring but the standard is relatively flat and met my sound liking. Speaking of the sound, I found it to be very listenable. The highs were clear and didn't seem to distort. The bass is full and thumpy, but tends to distort at high volumes. But overall, it was a very acceptable sound, much more than it's competition. The adjustable lights near the top are customizable as well as able to totally disable. They are a novelty but again can be turned off. So to finish, as a good loud party speaker, the JLab easily fits the bill. Rated against similar sized and priced speaker this one places first! Good listening!

Loud
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of the box, this speaker is loud. The lights are what you would expect, especially from a party speaker. Overall, sadly this is a meh speaker. The sound quality is loud, that is the only way to describe it. If you are looking for loud, this is it. The sound just is not very good, even after playing with settings, equalizers in the JLab app and in my third party apps, I just can not find a good sound. By far the best quality is how loud it is. Loud can be good, especially in an outdoor setting. This would work really well for what it is designed for. Party time. It can definitely fill the house with sound. Being in the pool, you can hear it over the water and people splashing. The speaker is water and dust resistant rated, IP56 rating. Your phone, or whatever you connect to it, can be controlled by the dial. The controls are well thought out. If the sound quality was better this would be an easy 4 star rating. But if you are looking to get a quality sound, this just did not deliver for me. It is possible this may be a faulty unit, so your milage may vary. It could also have been damaged in transit, but there were no visible signs of mishandling so I have ruled that out.

Great outdoor party speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are in the market for a speaker that can go with you anyplace, and play loud enough for about any occasion, the JLab Epic Party speaker just may be worth looking into. The JLab speaker is rated at 100 watts and includes four 2.5-inch full-range drivers, a 5.25-inch subwoofer, and a 5-inch passive radiator. The speaker is designed with an omni-directional design that can fill the room with sound in every direction. As an added bonus, this speaker can be paired with a bunch of other JLab party speakers to form a massive music filled area. Almost all of the controls for the speaker can be accessed on the top of the speaker with hard buttons, but the JLab app is also really good. In fact the app has some nice features that aren't normally found in these type of applications, like a multiband equalizer and a section that has several ambient sounds that can be played, a burn in tool for headphones and control guide to help you understand the default controls on the top of the speaker itself. Through the app you can also control the light pattern on the speaker. The JLab has a customizable LED light ring with 6 different patterns that can be synced to the music. As an added bonus, the JLab also includes a 3.5mm aux input and also, a 3.5mm microphone input so the speaker can be used for Karaoke. I guess the most important part is that the speaker has great volume and very good sound. Of course, it could always have more bass, but for a portable speaker, this one does a good job. This is a great outdoor and indoor speaker and one my teenage kids have had a great time using. It has a water resistance rating, but not a dust rating that I could find, so sand could be an issue if you go to the beach.

Strong Sound and Reliable Performance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Using the JLab Epic Party Speaker for about three weeks now has proven that this speaker is a great addition for both indoor and outdoor use. The sound quality is surprisingly loud for its size, with deep bass but it also has clear mids and highs. This speaker can fill a moderately sized room without an issue and it continues to perform well in the outdoors without sounding cheap. The battery life is on par with what they advertise. I have received about 15 to 16 hours; which is without using any lights. When the RGB lights are used, the battery life is slightly lower. The RGB lights are an added benefit; I may not always use them, but they do create a good ambiance when needed. Also, the customization through the app is very easy and doesn’t feel complicated at all. The build quality feels durable. I have used it outdoors on a couple of occasions, and since it is water-resistant, I don’t have to worry about splashes. On top of that the handle helps me move this speaker more easily than I expected considering how heavy it is. As far as Bluetooth, I have not experienced any dropouts and the controls respond well. Overall, it’s a well-rounded speaker with strong sound, good battery life, and useful extra features without feeling gimmicky.

Party Time!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The JLab Epic Party Speaker has me so excited for summer! I could tell the moment I pulled this beauty out of the box that it was something special, and it has not disappointed me! The size of this speaker is perfect, big enough to have amazing sound and great battery life, yet small enough to take with me everywhere. Setup was a breeze and I was able to connect this to my iPhone with ease. I have spent a good amount of time in the different sound modes and exploring different genres of music, and I have yet to find a weak spot. The light bar around the top provides an excellent touch, especially outside at night! In addition to all the different sound modes you also have different modes for the RGB lighting as well, such a fun touch! The versatility doesn't stop there however, as this amazing speaker and party light is also a portable power bank! I can charge my phone while using the speaker and controlling the lighting and different sound settings from the Jlab app. As if all of this wasn't enough this speaker even has splash resistance so I don't even worry if I get caught in some light rain or have a spill. Overall this speaker will be my new best friend this summer!
