I know, I know … I should go outside and play in the “fresh air”, but those who think video gaming is Candy-Crush might be surprised how physical an hours long session of relatively competitive co-op gaming can be. A lot of “Body-English” is involved. Room temperatures comfortable for family members sitting watching a movie can be sweat producing for “active” gamers. That type of player will appreciate the fact that just having light ear-buds and a tiny micro phone on a wire is much cooler and lighter than over-the-ear competitive earphones with a huge cushioned headband.
FEATURES:
- Bluetooth 5 decodes aptx/SBC Low-Latency Codex (Note: requires a Phone, tablet or console with Bluetooth 5 for lowest latency)
- Supports HSP/HFP/A2DP/AVRCP sound compression protocols.
- 11-hour battery life during use. 150-hour standby time
- Can be switched between 2 Sound Equalizer modes; “Gaming” with increased mid/hi frequencies for clear voice and spacial awareness and “Music” with amplified vocals and bass for enhanced music listening.
- 2-year limited warranty
INCLUDES:
- JLab Play Gaming Wireless Earbuds
- Travel Bag
- 5ft (1.524 m) AUX Console Cord with 3.5 mm male plug and volume control
- 10in (254 mm) USB-2 to Micro USB Charging Cable
- 4 Extra silicon ear tips (sizes large & small)
PROS:
- Low 60 ms latency on Bluetooth 5, effectively 0 ms latency while using 3.5 mm AUX cord
- Very easy to set up with clear instruction manual.
- The ability to set up/pair with OK Google or Siri through Bluetooth allows hands free telephone calling.
- Light .9 oz. (26 g) and cool.
CONS:
- Uses older style Micro USB rather than current USB-C for charging.
- Could use higher volume when played through AUX cable.
- The flat wire cable meant to drape around the back of the neck is too stiff and sometimes positions the earbud wires at awkward angles.
CONCLUSION:
These earbuds are not for highly competitive gaming, but they are fine for most users and provide a comfortable alternative to heavy gaming headphones. They are also good for everyday music, phone and podcast listening.

Good sound and battery life….microphone could use some help
OK these are definitely not up to over-the-ear sound quality, so adjust your expectations for the price point and if you fiddle with the sound settings on the app you can find a pre-set that works best for the particular game you are playing. Once you get a good fit (plenty of tips to choose from) and set the equalizer to your liking, it’s actually pretty nice not to have the weight of cans on your head. These work out nicely to provide improved sound on an Oculus Rift S bluetooth pairing with the computer and no lag at all.
Bluetooth paired no problems with desktop, phone, laptop, tablet >> no problem going from one device to the other.
As mentioned, a good selection of ear tips for your best fit, and nice to have a little traveling case/bag to keep everything together so you don’t have to hang on to the box to keep everything sorted out.
Battery life is probably the best thing about these earbuds, as easy to get 10 hours + on a chat console or in multi-player. Re-charging is about the same as everyone else, I usually charge them back up overnight so can’t really say if it is
Sadly, the microphone is very much a step down from a stem mic on a headset, as other “regular” players picked up on the difference and described the microphone sound as “like talking to you on a phone” instead of a good microphone. Also needed to hold the microphone up close to the mouth in some games to be heard, and still not the sound quality you might be used to with a stem mic.
So, for the price, these work well for sound purposes and are light, good bluetooth connection without any lag, long long battery life. For multi-player games where good microphone quality is essential to the game, you might want to move up to a higher price point and check the reviews.
Hope this helps and stay safe!

I’m a fan of JLab headphones. Generally speaking, I think their headphones are a nice balance of quality and price. Obviously you can find “better” sounding headphones, but for the price point they offer, I find them to be a solid choice for the more budget minded consumer (or someone who doesn’t put an absolute premium on sound quality).
With that said, I found the JLab Play Gaming earbuds to be a tad underwhelming. Not necessarily because of sound quality, but because of deficiencies using them for what they’re intended to do...gaming.
I own virtually every video game console ever made. But my primary gaming devices are PS4 and Switch. I play online with friends on my PS4 but primarily play solo (or local multiplayer) on my Switch. For me, the real benefit for the Gaming Ear buds was their versatility. I could use them for travel when playing my Switch (since Bluetooth doesn’t work with it) and I could use it at home with PS4.
But first, WHAT’S IN THE BOX
I’m impressed with what you get for the price. A nice bag, USB charging cable, AUX cable, and extra ear bud tips.
As you can probably surmise from the product photos, they’re not truly wireless earbuds, but they are connected with a strap that goes behind your neck. In some ways, I much prefer the “cable around your neck” vs. truly wireless earbuds so they don’t get lost.
EASE OF SETUP - Bluetooth Connectivity
Pairing it with my phone was easy. On the right side of the cabling you will find the controls. There’s a center button for pairing (pausing music too) and volume. You hold the power button to turn it on and hold it another beat and it goes into pairing mode. Much like virtually every Bluetooth device I’ve tried in the past few years, it was a seamless process.
CONTROLS
One of my overarching complaints of all Bluetooth headphones are the controls. With over the ear headphones you physically have more space to button buttons (whether capacitive or otherwise) but earbuds present a different challenge. And every manufacturer has a slightly different way of making a small number of buttons do different things. Point is, the controls are actually quite versatile, but it can be a little complex (but nothing a little practice won’t take care of). For example, to change a music track you have to click the volume button and hold it for 2 seconds (intuition tells me to click volume twice). Answering a call you click the button in the center (the power button) or to reject the call you simply click the button once and hold it. To JLabs credit, they not only give you a nice, and easy to understand, graphic in the form of a quick start guide, but it’s also on the box. So you can’t complain that JLab didn’t show you how to control the device. And honestly, it’s no big deal, and is easily understood, it just gets confusing if you, like me, use different headsets and the controls are slightly different.
COMFORT
Fit and comfort for Bluetooth headphones are a big deal. If they’re not comfortable, then you won’t want to wear them for long periods of time. But most manufacturers, including JLab, include multiple tips so you can find the right fit. Anyone who cares about my opinion I tell them to take time when first purchasing earbuds to try the different tips on and find one that works. Unfortunately for me, I couldn't find a truly comfortable tip. For me, I felt they were all uncomfortable. The larger tips felt fine at first but they bothered my ears after using them for an hour. It wasn't painful, but you could feel they were there and it was distracting.
SOUND QUALITY
As I mentioned earlier, I think JLab products have decent sound quality. I found these earbuds, both playing music and games, to be just fine. Now, you're not getting 360 spatial audio for games like Call of Duty, but I found the sound to be adequate for most uses. The one thing I wish it has, and most smaller earbuds don't, is better bass. But frankly, I knew going in this pair wouldn't have deep bass like over the ear headphones due. Bottomline is that you can find better sounding headphones elsewhere, but for this price point the sound quality is more than satisfactory whether you're gaming or listening to music.
BATTERY LIFE
While I didn’t fully test the 11+ hours of battery life, I can say that I used these for listening to music on my phone for many hours over the course of a few days, and gamed a few hours each night for a few nights and had no issues. For battery powered devices, that’s more than ample. So why I can’t say, yes it lasts 11 hours, I can confidently say it lasts as long as you would expect them to.
GAMING
This is the department where I felt these headphones struggled the most, which was disappointing given that they're meant for gaming. I own all current gen consoles. I don’t play Xbox One online, but I do play PS4 online. Using the included AUX cable, to play online you plug the AUX cable into your PS4 controller and then plug the other end (micro-USB) into the charging port of the headphones. My PS4 picked up the audio immediately and fed the audio to the headphones. That much was easy. But in a group chat, I simply couldn’t get the volume loud enough to hear my friends. Note that to control the audio/chat you have to do it in the PS4 menus themselves. I will admit that my problem was likely user error. I’m used to plugging in my old headset into the PS4 via USB which never required me having to adjust the volume/microphone levels. I just couldn’t figure it out. I do wish, for people like me, JLab would include some instructions on troubleshooting on the various gaming platforms. And I like the dedicated mute switch. It’s a switch all by itself so when you need to mute, there’s no mistaking what button it is.
While I couldn’t hear my friends, they could hear me crystal clear. So I’m confident that the Play Gaming earbuds performed as they should, but I failed to adjust the volume accordingly. When I played a single player game (I was playing Last of Us 2) I found the earbuds to work just fine. Like I said, my issue was the volume of my chat.
I used these for my Nintendo Switch, and like using them for the PS4, you simply plug the AUX cable into the port on the Switch and the other end of the AUX cable into the headphones. I found the audio to work just fine. Again, I don’t game or chat with friends online on the Switch.
CONCLUSION
These really are a versatile set of headphones and for the price point, they really can’t be beat. The sound quality is mediocre, which I don’t mean as a knock, but it has its limitations. The microphone works extremely well, but know that you will need to mess with your console’s menus to the get the chat volume just right. And it sounds weird, but the included travel bag is a real plus for me. It’s really nice to see companies paying attention to where one might store earbuds, charging cables, AUX cables and give you a solution. Comfort is a bit lacking for me (when wearing them for an extended period of time), but I think that varies depending on the person, so don’t let my experience discourage you (some earbuds hurt my others, others don’t).

I am actually impressed by the JLab Gaming Wireless Headset. These earbuds come with a very neat and well made vinyl pouch with a mesh cloth lining and zipper to keep the earbuds protected, a micro-USB charging cable (I wish it would’ve been USB-C), multiple size silicone tips, and a micro-USB audio cable ending in a 3.5mm plug. The headset has a gaming style design with black and blue accents. The neckband is made of a pliable but firm plastic and fits my neck well and is comfortable -even on direct contact with my skin. On the left side there is a counter weight and on the right the media controls and mic mute buttons. The actual earbuds are light and stick to each other magnetically. This design is not new, but is well implemented here and makes the headset easy to just keep it on, ready to go.
The media controls -volume, play/pause, pairing and sound signature work well enough. I did find it strange that the volume up/down seemed to be reversed, but got used to it quickly. Also, changing between “gaming”and “Music”modes was a bit tricky. Bluetooth 5.0 helps in keeping a stable connection. Using the micro-USB/3.5mm adapter provides additional options, especially when using certain gaming devices or consoles that do not offer wireless connectivity.
As far as sound is concerned, I was rather surprised. In “gaming”mode, the frequencies all show up clearly. It does seem that the mid-range is pushed forward, which allows for hearing shots, steps, and players voices to come in much clearly. These buds have a 60ms low latency feature which helps in locating where the sounds are coming from in real-time. In “music”mode, the bass is boosted significantly. This makes listening to pop, EDM and other bass-heavy music enjoyable. It also works great when watching movies.
The mic is also well done. I was able to be heard via Bluetooth clearly without dropping or distorting. However, the best experience was through the audio cable. I tested it in several multi-player matches on PC and consoles as well as conference calls and I was told my voice came in full and clear.
The battery lasts for almost 10 hours in my experience with volumes at about 75%. This should be more than enough for most listening or gaming sessions.
Overall, I think these earbuds offer considerable value, options, and features, making me forget that these are not “truly wireless”. I highly recommend them.

This will be a short reviews. The headphones are good for most genre's of games. Even better for music. It is weird you need to do a button press combo to change that setting but not too bad.
The extra aux cord to play with my Xbox one x is kinda cumbersome. Playing forza for hours was pretty good. No ear fatigue. Since this isn't and over the ear design outside noise can creep in more than other. But still gets pretty loud. You definitely have spacial awareness in game evem though I didn't see surround sound it does seem to work. Pretty well. You mileage will vary on this one. I could tell with another game I had. Battery life is really really good.
Not a fan of the color arrangement but it works that it's mostly black in color.

I'm impressed by these wireless Jlab gaming earbuds based on pairing with both my PS4 for gaming and my Android phone for calls.
In the box are the earbuds, micro-USB cable, multiple earbud tips, travel bag, and a 3.5mm Aux cord. The ear buds are lightweight and have a flexible behind the neck band for comfort. They are also magnetic making for ease of storing and transporting in the travel bag. The right side of the neck band has a controller for the power, play/pause/hangup, assistant activation, volume, track selection, and equalizer change. The right side also has a microphone (hangs right at mouth level) with mute toggle on/off slider. The button functions are intuitive and work as expected.
The in game audio is great, and the gel tips fit perfectly nearly eliminating all background noise interference. When using both PS4 and Android I was told my voice was clear and the mic did not pick up on my dogs barking in the background. The battery life is excellent, I had the earbuds fully charged in less than 2 hours and they lasted for a full week of intermittent use. The wireless range allows for me to run downstairs without losing audio and no latency as I move around the house.
Overall for the price point these earbuds are excellent audio quality, portability, and flexibility working with multiple devices.

Good for Gaming, not for Music

This headset is a pretty good one. It's well-made, easy to wear and comfortable, and it sounds great for gaming and watching videos too. The sound is crisp and clear, and the headset doesn't even hurt to wear after a while like many earbuds do. It has pretty good directional sound as well when being used with a program that supports it. The one flaw this headset really has is that, while the sound is wonderful for games and movies and such, when I tried to use it to listen to music it quickly became unimpressive. When playing games on my Xbox, the headset had powerful sound and I could hear every nuance in the game music as well as every sound effect and most voice lines; but when I switched to Spotify the audio lost clarity and became quiet and weak. So, if you're buying this to play games with, it's a good option, but don't if you just want headphones for music.

I was disappointed because of the positive reviews I thought it was the ideal equipment for me. As for the audio playing music is in the average is not something that stands out, also loses the connection at times and the audio level in calls the first was perfect, and on the second day the audio was a whisper, also to make certain calls the connection fell. Overall a real disaster.

Pro
-Good sound for price (wired)
-No audio lag on bluetooth
-Long cable
-Battery life
Con
-Mic is too quiet and didn’t sound that good
-Gaming audio on bluetooth can be distorted
The first pair I got was defective and had to be replaced. The dial on the USB wire was bad, causing the left side to cut out. The mic also sounded very distorted. The replacement seems to be working fine.
Wired
The audio was better than I expected for the price. It was full and balanced and gaming with them was fine overall. I could hear steps and rustling of the ground, while crowds and speeches came in clear. Loud effects were a bit limited but still had enough impact over the other sounds.
The mic wasn’t that great. I did some test recordings, and it was really quiet. Even with the mic input turned all the way up, I had to hold the mic right in front of my mouth for it to really pick up. It would be hard to hear someone over the game audio. The mic also didn’t sound great. It was hollow, tinny, and had a slight distortion.
Wireless
Music and video sounded fine, but strangely gaming audio had some distortion. It sounded like it was going through a filter. I didn’t notice any delay in the audio, but I also didn’t test out wireless for very long. The mic sounded maybe a bit worse, but not that different than wired.
Battery
The battery life is at least 10 hours. I left it on playing music for 9 hours straight and still had a medium battery level.
For what they are, the audio sounds good. They have a decent range and don’t sound hollow and cheap like a typical $20 earbuds. It’s good enough to hear lighter sounds while still having some impact for louder booming sounds. Unfortunately the mic is not that good. Wireless gaming can have some distorted sounds, but no noticeable delay. Best to use wired.

In the box is the headphones, a charging cord, an adaptor with a volume controller (wheel), extra ear buds and a travel pouch.
Audio: the sound is impeccable, it vary much exceeds the expectations of a headset that is not over the ear. The sound is very crisp, the directional sound (the sounds around you) including ambient sound, are very clear. I also noticed that the headphones are very good at noise control. I am assuming that the gel tips create the seal in the ear which is helping block out the sound. Overall, I find that the sound quality these headphones are not only exceptional for a in-ear headset, but for a headset overall.
Microphone (communication): On the other hand, the microphone does not meet expectations that are set by the audio. On the Playstation, be sure to adjust the settings to ensure that your audio is not echoing when using the microphone. The output tends to be quite loud, and may echo if standard settings are used.
All in all, these are great gaming headphones in my opinion. They are much better than any in-ear headphones you could buy if over the ear is a problem/issue is a for you. I would most definitely buy these again and I have already recommended the headphones to gamer friends and family.

It never ceases to amaze me how JLAB Audio manages to pack so much quality into their low priced headsets. While you can certainly pay hundreds more for minimally higher quality earbuds. You can’t beat the value of these. From the start, these are easy to pair and get up and running. Music through these sounded excellent and used as a phone headset, people told me that they could hear me loud and clear.
Since these are billed as a gaming headset, I tried them out with my Nintendo Switch. The Switch does not allow me to connect a headset via Bluetooth, but JLAB has that covered. The include a 3.5mm AUX cable in the box that connects to the headset via the micro USB port used for charging. The sound is crystal clear and chatting with friends was clear as well, although there was an occasional echo. I’m not sure if that was the headsets fault.
Overall I love these earbuds. They are great for everyday or to bring with you when travelling so that you can leave the expensive headset at home.

This reminds me of the Powerbeats x that I once had with the magnetic buds to stay in place when you put them away or not in use. It came with a convenient bag also.
There’s lots of cords especially with the 3.5mm to plug into the controller. But it’s great taking a break from over the head studio style headphones to in earbuds.
I do like them and I’ll also be using the Bluetooth feature also when it comes to pairing with my smartphone.
Highly recommend
