The microphone works great, but on power-up and initial log-in for Windows 10 and 11, it defaults to a "hot microphone". For me, and security purposes, the default should be muted, or at least have the option for muted initialization.

The microphone is a good size but it's sometimes too big making it easy to knock over. I like that the stand is adjustable however I wish it were a little sturdier. Additionally, the microphone picks up my voice although when I put it at forward directional, it sometimes picks up other voises.

Amazing! The cable that came with it is loose when plugged into device. But luckily I had a usb C already so it was fine. Other than that, this microphone is Pro!

For the longest time, whenever I've had to record high quality audio on my PC, I've used a regular recording mic with a headphone adapter, plugged into my mic jack. While it worked, it wasn't a really elegant solution, having to set up a stand, no way to mute, always losing the adapter. With the JLAB Talk, high quality recording is a piece of cake. With no software to install, you are ready to record in your favorite program as soon as you plug in the device. The audio quality on the JLAB Talk is almost too good. While I was setting up to record my voice using Audacity, I could hear the sounds of my fingers sliding across my keyboard, not even pressing them down but just lightly grazing them in a nervous habit to keep them busy while I navigated my menus. Grabbing a piece of paper and just rustling it lightly got picked up by the mic as a tsunami of ASMR level soothing sounds. For a lark, I grabbed my daughter's toy guitar and banged out a few chords, and was pleased to find that the recording was bright and full sounding. The different recording profiles allow you to capture the faintest environmental sounds. While in 360 mode, using the live audio aux port to get the raw audio feed that the mic was picking up, I was able to listen to a conversation that my wife and daughter were having in another room, which I couldn't hear without using the mic. The unit itself is sturdily built, and not too heavy. The included stand can be adjusted to allow resting the microphone on various surfaces, and can be removed so that the microphone can be used in different mounts, with the aid of an adapter. I noticed that the included USB Type C cable has a right-angle style plug on one end to accomodate the tight clearance between the bottom of the microphone itself and the frame that holds it, but this same clearance requires you to have a similar right-angle style plug on the device you are using if you wish to use the live audio aux function, otherwise a traditional plug will bump against the frame and not allow complete movement while adjusting the angle of the microphone. The USB cable itself has the aforementioned Type C connector on one end, and a standard Type A connector on the other, is nicely wrapped in a protective braided sheath, and has a nice length. Another thing to note is that the mute function does not mute any audio coming out of the aux jack, it only mutes the recording function. The on device controls allow you to adjust the recording level and gain, as well as swap recording profiles. I would have liked to have seen a proper off button. If I leave the device plugged in to my computer, it is always on, a blue ring (or red, depending on if I muted it before putting it aside) glowing constantly next to my monitor. Also, while there's no audible "pop" when plugging the mic in, you can definitely hear the mute button being clicked on and off, which is annoying if you are trying to be polite on a conference call by muting when you aren't speaking. Having a headset plugged into the microphone aux jack so that you don't have to have your headset plugged into the regular headset jack and have a different device for microphone input than you do for audio out subjects you to everything that the microphone picks up, amplified, even when the microphone is set to mute. This can get quite annoying, especially if you have a louder mechanical keyboard. All of this is mitigated for normal computer usage by using one of the other audio ports and changing your audio output device, but it's still annoying that the computer auto switches to the microphone for audio out when it is plugged in. All in all, this is a very respectable microphone capable of high quality recordings of even the tiniest whispers. The different recording profiles allow you to use the microphone for a variety of uses. While I won't be leaving it on my desk full time for using it as an every day conference call and general computer use microphone, I'll definitely be breaking it out whenever I want to make a high quality audio recording.

I don’t do a lot of mic work on my computer, so I generally rely on my computer mic or headphones (I know, I know). But I’ve recently started getting into more recording (tutorials etc.) I actually started doing them for some family and friends to assist with certain tasks given social distancing. Since I’ve been doing more recording, it seemed reasonable to up my mic game a bit. I didn’t think it made sense to go too crazy since I’m a beginner. I’ve had good luck with JLAB wireless headphones, so I was excited to try this mic. My overall impression is that it’s pretty decent quality and does the job you expect from it. It’s nothing super fancy, but I wasn’t really expecting that at this price point. The sound is clear and the mic was super simple to connect to my computer. I was up and running in no time and the sound is super crisp. I’d say this is an excellent starter for someone like me who is just starting to get more serious about mics. You can get your feet wet and get good quality without breaking the bank.
