Good tripod holds phone thru using it. And I have had some good experiences with it.

It was a lot smaller then I thought it would be. The hight is short with the legs out enough to support my iPhone 6+ its only 6" high, not high enough for what I wanted it for. for just shouting selfies or short videos it would be ok. For the price and the size i would not recommend it, But it might be ok for a kid
