If you’ve seen Scorsese’s Taxi Driver & The King of Comedy — obvious influences on this film — you really won't be seeing anything all that different here (aside from its comic “bookiness” allusions). Looks & sounds great on 4K, no doubt, but as a film what does it add up to? Not much that hasn’t already been done. Joaquin Phoenix IS this film; without him, there’d be no reason to see it. Btw, as you watch pay attention to all clocks, portrayals of time.
