The tenth album from this Swedish melodic metal band is a great concept album. Go figure! And it's a love story to boot! Such a strange disc if this is your first exposure to the band.

I was really hooked by the first track on the record. I have always wanted to give this band a shot after listening to several tracks by them over the years. However, I found that some of the tracks I really enjoyed, and the rest not so much. I would say about half of this record was to my liking, but the other half was not enjoyable at all. This doesn't mean you won't like it. It is just my personal taste.

Amon Amarth is a band whose musical prowess has made its marks into the modern metal industry. Coming with their latest album "Jomsviking", I was expecting to have my block knocked off. Unfortunately the album turns out to be a mixed bag, where the instruments and vocals succeed the cringe-like lyrics seem to depress the momentum of the sound. There really isn't a time where a balance between these two dynamics meet, and the album boils down to a solid 6/10 because of it.
