Good but small problem

Best for people with smaller hands(obviously). They work great except for a small problem I'm having with the blue controller. I can't tell if it's from the set that came with the Switch or if it's this new set I bought separately but I'll explain using the Super Mario Bros game I purchased. So I pick a character, let's say I choose Mario and now I'm inside a level - ready to play it. For some reason, Mario starts moving on his own and isn't responding to me telling him to do what I want him to do (there's a lag, essentially). I know it happens with usage of the controller but still this is a problem. Nobody wants Mario jumping into the lava in Bowser's Castle. If anybody knows a fix instead of me having to buy a new set, please tell. Also wanted to add that this set was not purchased as a replacement but as an additional set to play 4 players at once.
