Customers are saying

Customers commend the top-quality gameplay, expansive open world, and the abundance of action and fun in Just Cause 4. Many enjoyed the game's numerous weapons, gadgets, and the signature grappling hook, finding the overall experience worthwhile. However, some criticisms were aimed at the relatively weak storyline and somewhat challenging controls. Despite these minor drawbacks, the game's strengths clearly resonated with a large number of players.

Great game. I’ve been a fan of this particular series. Graphics and story line match up. Not too much story line.

Just Cause 4 is arguably the most fun 3rd person shooter just out of the sheer absurdness and chaotic nature of the game itself. Just go around and destroy everything in the most creative ways you can think of. Your tether now has tons of mods that you can add on so there are even more ways to destroy things in this game. There's really no story, just go out in the world and wreck havoc. The game is naturally repetitive. 'Go here and kill everybody and destroy everything, go here and kill everybody and destroy everything, go here and do it again x100'. It's fun at first as I've said, but it does get old fast. There's very little other gameplay aspects to this game. The wingsuit challenges are back (and are easier now, thank god. JC3's wingsuit challenges were infuriatingly hard), speed challenges and then there's these tomb challenges (obvious nod to Square Enix's other series, Tomb Raider) where you have these short little puzzle challenges to figure out. Nothing crazy but they're good for a quick change of pace. The controls are really good and feel really fluid. You can seamlessly switch from the grappling to the parachute to the wingsuit and back again and it makes traversing the world fun. The gun play and tether system is also really nice and easy to control. I feel like the vehicle mechanics have been improved. The cars are easier to handle. I know that was a big complaint with the last Just Cause. Apparently, this game was built on a whole new engine and it almost doesn't feel like it except when you look at the graphics. The graphics are pretty terrible. Most of the time, the game is so chaotic that you're not even paying attention to the graphics and they make no difference to the core gameplay itself. However, if you just stop and pan around with the camera while you're standing still. Oh my, this game is a blurry, pixelated mess. But like I said, you only really notice it when you're standing still and this game is not Red Dead Redemption 2 and you're not standing still very often. You'll most notice it during cutscenes which are just bad in general (it is Just Cause after all, it's not supposed to have a good story or engrossing cutscenes) but the cutscenes look like in early PS3 and that is no exaggeration. I mention graphics last because I'm not one to have graphics hold so much weight. It's totally aesthetic and does not effect the gameplay itself. I'm sure they'll patch it over time to make it look better. JC3 looked great but I remember it having some serious frame rate drops to the point where the game becomes a slide show. I don't know if they ever fixed that but something like that does hamper the gameplay experience. Luckily, JC4 doesn't have that but they severely downgraded the graphics to compensate in this new engine. It improves in some areas over JC3 while downgrading in other areas. I like all the modifications they added to the tethering system and the improved physics to allow to allow more craziness and creative destruction which is always good. I also like the huge and varied map. I don't like that the gameplay is still pretty stagnant and repetitive and the graphics could definitely be better.

Lots of reviewer's have pointed out the graphics bugs. Well, their not wrong unfortunately. But, the game play is good. The controls with all the new grapple tech takes a bit of getting used to, but I have since adjusted to them. The story isn't as in depth as previous games. There are a lot of fun things to do though. You can spend hours just trying different things to do / destroy with the new tether system. I've actually had a good time with the game ignoring the shortfalls. There are bug fixes coming, just no time frame set on the update.

I have enjoyed this franchise. This iteration is no different. However, while I enjoy the upgrades and numerous mods to the grappling hook, the mission redundancy is getting to me, slightly more than halfway through the campaign. If it wasn't for the ability to goof off creating various grapples and destroying every red thing in sight, I may be a lot less satisfied. As it is, I give it a solid 3.8 and would recommend it.

Still lacks the feel of being a polished completed game. Tornados and other weather are sort of stationary looking. But on the other hand, the map is much larger and I can still play this for hours just exploring and doing different things. Happy with the purchase and would buy it again.

Just Cause 3 was better, this one continues the story. There are several upgrades to weapons etc, and it is fun, but something about it just doesn't live up to the fun that 3 had.

The physics based open sandlot game is filled with what made Just Cause 3 a blast to play. Some new mechanics were thrown in such as the weather implantation. I wish there was more use of it but other than that, it’s such an over the top game.

This is my new favorite game. The gameplay is top quality and the grappling hook......forget about it. There are many great modes of travel. Flying, Driving, swimming, motorcycles. This game is sick.

The graphics on this are not as good as the last game. Even more lacking if you have a PS4 Pro with a 4K TV with HDR. The story line is a very weak. Basically can blow up everything and they have added a lot of extra features to do this. Still a fun game. Could have been a bit better. If you enjoyed the last one then you will probably like this. I personally think that the tether has way too many confusing options that get to be too complicated to manage.

Some games just get it. Just Cause is on of those. I just finished RDR2, and good lord, I know it’s beautiful, but I’m tired of riding my horse around creation, pressing the button over and over, etc. That game just missed on a lot of things that would have made gameplay less frustrating. In JC4, you have all of the stuff you need to get around quickly from the start. Traveling around the map is even fun with the grapple, parachute and wing suit, though fast travel is available from the beginning. I didn’t even have to upgrade camp twice to get it! All in all, this series of games just knows what you want to do to have fun and lets you do it all.

a 3 of 5. Driving doesn't feel very smooth, the world seems pretty boring, the characters and the story... just cheesy there is fun to be had here... but this isn't a GTA V or any other really polished open world game. I don't think you wanna buy this game if you're looking for a good story. if you just wanna blow stuff up... drive and fly... you will have fun just DONT expect a "masterpiece" as so many are saying these days

I mean what is there more to say than this is a Just Cause game. They removed some things in this 4th rendition such as the pistol side arm and liberating bases. After playing this game several hours, it turned out that there is still some version of liberation and their new system isn't as big of a deal as I originally thought. With that said, I still wish they add in those elements from Just Cause 2 that made that game so dang addicting and fun. I still can't really find this comparable to the 5 star gem of the series so this is why I gave it 3 stars. I can say however, this game is pretty fun and better than JC3. The explosions and destructibility, flying, driving, and grapple mechanics, visual fidelity, and the weapons are a definite improvement! The game however is still a little stuck in past-gen though with some of these same pros: visuals kinda stink. Anyway, I like it Just 'Cause so why not go down to your local BB and pick yourself up a copy and see what you think?
