Van goes back to his roots with this newest release that is all original material. Blues, folk, country, gospel - the music he learned from, the music he was influenced by forms the core of "Keep It Simple." Some wonderful back-up musicians, most of which have worked with Van many times over the years. Stand out tracks for me include the title cut, "Keep It Simple," "That's Entrainment" and "Behind the Ritual." Of course, this is early on in listening to the cuts. With Van, often songs grow on you the more you hear them. If you've enjoyed Van over his 4 plus decades of making music and his 35 or so releases, you'll add this to one of your favorites. If you are just learning about him, this is a good, simple, well-crafted place to start.
