If you’re into custom boards but don’t want to build from scratch, the Keychron Q5 HE mechanical keyboard hits a really satisfying middle ground. The build quality is exactly what you’d expect from Keychron’s Q-series—solid aluminum, zero flex, and a premium feel that holds up to daily abuse. What really stands out is the sound profile. This board delivers that deep, “thocky” acoustic character enthusiasts chase, without needing a ton of mods out of the box. It’s tuned well, and the typing experience feels consistent and deliberate. I also appreciate how easy Keychron makes it to personalize. Being able to grab additional keycap sets directly from them is underrated—I ended up swapping in a red ESC and Enter key, and it adds just the right amount of visual punch without going overboard. Between the typing feel, sound, and customization options, this is a 5-star board for anyone who wants enthusiast-level quality without the full DIY rabbit hole.

Absolutely love this keyboard. The hall effect switches are amazing and the sound is perfect for a nice sounding but not to loud keyboard. Absolutely a dream to use and work with.

Great keyboard, nice thocky sound out of the box! Cherry profile feels comfortable, shine through looks great and adds some functionality when playing in low light scenarios. Highly recommended!

This thing is a brick, it weighs like 5 lbs almost. It build equality also reflects this. I have be using for gaming and it been a nice upgrade from a regular mechincal keyboard sounds wounderful and the keys have nearly no side to side play like some competitors. I have been abosutley been loving it.

First off Keychron has always been quite the value proposition. They make keyboards range in all budgets and rarely do they not meet the price point. The Q5 HE is just barely larger than the TKL layout but gives you all the stuff most people really want from a Fullsize keyboard. First off you are getting a nice hefty all aluminum case, all the dampening foam you could want, nice gaskets to give you a firm yet forgiving typing experience and double shot PBT keycaps to finish it off. Not to mention the tri connections! USB, 2.4 and BT! I love that this keyboard fits in essentially the same space as a TKL but gives me the entire numpad! I still get my knob and a few extras above the numpad. You also get your "broke out" arrow keys, which while it looks cramped, is way better than arrow keys that are not walled off. I am not a huge fan of the keycap color way; its not bad, but I would have loved if I got the some extra keycaps to replace the red ones. Last but not least, you get HE switches! These are what I consider the future of keyboards. You get full control over actuation distance and retrigger. You can adjust .1mm of travel to suit your needs. You can do all customization from their web interface which is also great as its just one less piece of software to download and install. Its very simple to use and just takes a few seconds to navigate and save your preferences.

Seriously the best keyboard I’ve tried. I’m no keyboard snob but I did want a new wireless keyboard for school and comparing the prices and build quality with other brands, this was a no brainer. It’s heavy, sturdy and the typing feels and sounds great compared to my razor huntsman

Needed a new keyboard after my old one started double typing. Decided to try one of these HE keyboards, so far love it! Able to use this keyboard with all my devices easily and it feels great!

[Employee of bestbuy] I'm a big time gamer and a programmer for fun. These keys are extremely lightweight, responsive, and easy to use. Whether I'm gaming or doing something else, the Hall Effect feature makes it so I dont have to press down all the way on my keyboard for a keystroke and reacts all the same! 10/10 reccomend this keyboard! The Q5 is extremely heavy weight as well. So it makes it harder to accidentally move and slide around. Its what I am currently using to write this review!

I need to start by addressing what an incredible value this is. The wood finish is really unique and I've enjoyed how it looks on my office desk, but I can't get over the switches. They are quiet, but don't sacrifice the responsiveness to do it. Beyond just the keyboard itself, life-changing tip - program your user name and password as macros in the Keychron Launcher. I hit two buttons now to log-in to multiple systems. Highly recommend!

up to par with wooting 80he if you like a full size keyboard but want something versatile for gaming and work this one’s perfect sounds and feels amazing fresh out of the box endless customization

This is the second Q5 HE I've purchased at BestBuy. The first one completely stopped working after a month and BestBuy, fortunately, exchanged it for a new one. I've had constant connectivity issues that require toggling the keyboard between wired and wireless multiple times in order for it to connect to my system. The build quality and typing experience with this keyboard is fantastic and I do not want to return it again, so I reached out to Keychron customer support for a solution and have gone back forth for weeks with no resolution and constant repetitive questions and redundant troubleshooting tasks. The keyboard still does not function as advertised and still has issues. Best Buy has been great about supporting me and would likely allow me to return it, but I feel like Keychron should do a better of job of supporting their products, especially at this price point. TLDR; good build quality, connectivity issues, unreliable manufacturer, and poor customer support. Buy at your own risk. I won't be buying another Keychron product.

Thocky typing experience right out of the box - love it! This is the best keyboard I’ve experienced by far!!! RGB settings are top notch. The OSA key caps are pretty comfortable — coming from a low profile KB user. Price point is certainly premium but it’s worth it IMO

Love the keyboard, the feel, the typing, everthing. However it seems like my unit has some issues. It feels like there is random misses when typing. There also seems to be random activation of some keys when not touching the keyboard on my unit on keys I dont use for typing often. I've reached out to Keychrone for support so hopefully I can get these issues addressed. Would I reccomned? No not at this point. If I can get these issues resoved then yes 100%.

My Engineering son loves this keyboard. Love the way the keys feel and the ease of the keyboard. Highly recommend other than the price. I think it is a bit pricey!

First non OEM keyboard I have purchased. I bought this for my work PC and have no regrets. I will never settle again.
