Customers are saying

Customers value the fun gameplay and engaging story of Kingdom Hearts III, frequently praising the vibrant worlds and the inclusion of bonus items like the steelbook and art book. However, some found the game too easy and criticized aspects of the dialogue and the length of cutscenes. While many enjoyed the game overall, a few felt the wait for the game's release was not entirely justified.

Nostalgia and the long production time and development problems really brought down the actual product. The combat is really watered down compared to previous entries and the plot is really loosely tied together and the ending is rushed in the last few hours of gameplay.

I've played the KH series since the first game and this is the first ever game I considered a complete money grab. 85% of the game is inconsequential to the plot and the last 15% is mashed up and horrible writing. It's set up to not tell you really anything and toopen the way to the next series. The best characters and villains are just stripped of their individuality and uniqueness and are just used as a check list by Namura. This was supposed to be an exit from Sora but it's just rushed and horrible.

Pretty lame game. Definitely don’t pay the extra for deluxe version. Total rip off. There seems to be more cut scenes than gameplay too.

The worst entry in the Kingdom Hearts series’s. Horrible/boring Disney Worlds and when you get to the end you are expecting way more.

This game was pretty disappointing for it being in development so long. I really hope they don’t botch Final Fantasy 7 up like this

    A Satisfying Conclusion

Kingdom Hearts first released in March of 2002 in Japan, September of 2002 in North America. Over the intervening roughly 17 years, there have been numerous games released across various platforms, all of which take place somewhere along a consistent, if a tad confusing, overall timeline. It is important to know this, because if you have not played approximately half of the games that were released to date, you're going to be lost. Kingdom Hearts 3 has a decent primer--about 15 minutes of backstory accessible from the main menu catching players up on all of the story threads. However, if you're considering playing Kingdom Hearts 3, pick up a copy of "Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far" and play/watch everything on that first. For those players who are caught up, Kingdom Hearts 3 delivers on its promise. The story beats are never particularly surprising. Xehanort, the main antagonist, is on the verge of bringing his decades-long plan into fruition, and it's up to Sora and his friends to stop him. What stands out is that the game actually does a remarkable job of providing a satisfying conclusion to all of the outstanding story threads. I'm sure there are some that aren't completely wrapped up, but after my 35 hour journey which served as the culmination of nearly 17 years' of games' stories, I felt satisfied. Beyond the story aspects, Kingdom Hearts III is one of the better games in the series from a gameplay standpoint. It incorporates elements from Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance and Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. The combat is a little tighter than in past games, and the movement and jumping, which has never been the series' strong point, is much more refined. I definitely have a few issues with the game though. The worlds you explore are huge, significantly larger than any of the worlds from the rest of the series. However, even when I was generally enjoying the stories for the game worlds, I felt like they all started to drag on a little too long. Each world is roughly a 1.5-2 hour experience to just run through the storyline. I felt that a lot of them could have been a tad shorter. Additionally, while some of them like the Tangled and Frozen worlds follow the plot of the corresponding films, some of the worlds' stories are pretty bad. The Toy Story world is really cool in concept and looks incredible, but the storyline (which takes place between Toy Story and Toy Story 2) is just dull, with little emotional weight. I also didn't care much for the story in the Monsters Inc. world, though again, it was a neat world to run through and explore. The other thing about this series is that it is extremely cutscene heavy. The general path through a world is cutscene --> battle --> safe room --> cutscene --> corridors with battles --> cutscene --> battle --> repeat until boss battle --> cutscene --> end. You spend a good chunk of time just watching this game play out, and while it's not really any different from past entries in the series, I found the endless string of cutscenes less appealing than I did in the past. Battles tend to take a little long as well. It's not any different from past games, but like the cutscenes, it was more noticeable to me this time around. Related to time spent, the finale goes on a little longer than I think it needs to, with a long string of "final battles" before the "final battle." It's all in service of a 17-year-in-the-making story conclusion, and again, it's satisfying, but it just goes on and on. That's my feeling on Kingdom Hearts III as a whole. It's by far the longest game in the franchise, and while it has a ton of time to breathe and provide a good beginning, middle, and end to each of the worlds while simultaneously wrapping up all of the core outstanding story threads from past games, I felt like there was a little too much of it. I was ready for the game to be over about 5-10 hours before it actually was finished. By the same token, I enjoyed it. I give this a conditional recommendation. If you're interested in it, but have never played a Kingdom Hearts game, get The Story So Far first. The Disney worlds are generally fun on their own, and their stories are all largely self-contained, but the main Kingdom Hearts plot elements that bookend everything will leave you completely lost if you're not already familiar with them and somewhat invested in the story. On the other hand, if you are interested and you're mostly caught up with the story and you want to see how it ends, I would strongly recommend this game. It's one of the best in the series, and while it doesn't fix all of the series' shortcomings, it does enough to wrap the endgame of a long-running saga up in a fun game experience.

This game has been worth the wait. Every game made from Squarenix has been linked to this final story in one way or another. The maps are bigger, the side quests are elaborate, and the synthesizing is much more difficult. There is no written dialogue. Everything is oral. My only advice is please do not make this your first entry into the saga. You will not understand anything. Play all the side games.

amazing game and the special collector's edition is worth every penny. The steelbook case, the artbook, the pins are all very quality and worth keeping given that this is the final journey for kingdom hearts! Bestbuy customer service, as always, is amazing and quick.

This game finally ties up a lot of the loose ends from the many other Kingdom Hearts games in a way that someone like me was quite happy with. The game just got better and better as the hours past.

As someone who purchases deluxe editions often, this one offers exactly what I crave for a very reasonable price Thankfully, it does not cost $250. The steelbook is magnificent with a very clean finish. Art book is what you expect, like the previous entries. Original box art is also included, which is very much appreciated. The outer house box came flawless. The game delivers, especially if you have been waiting over a decade for it.

I played the entire series in anticipation of this release, and this game did not disappoint. I enjoyed it from start to finish. The extras in the deluxe edition were absolutely worth the $20 more. Highly Recommend if you love Disney and SquareEnix.

Overall its an awesome game, just kind of lengthy on the cut scenes. If your new to the series i would recommend getting 1 and 2, maybe even a explanation of the story because it is very confusing.
