When we remodeled our kitchen a couple of years ago, we purchased this KitchenAid model because it matched the rest of our appliances. It has done a mediocre job since day one, but the real problem is that because of the door mechanism. It is finicky all the time. We’ve had two service calls on it and currently it is non-functional because the compactor is stuck in the down position. It’s just a terrible machine.

It's an ok product not overly in high demand any longer a fad of a bye gone era for the more affluent class. At least they are stll made for replacement purposes that helps us appliance repair contractors.

The first issue that I had with it was that you had to lift it to close it. That was the first clue this wasn't going to last. Now the tracks have completely fallen off and it won't close. Totally useless within one year of purchase. Do not buy.

Frustrating Trash Compactor
