No front panel
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This trash compactor does NOT come with a front panel as shown. You have to build one yourself or contact a contractor to build one for you. You can’t buy one from kitchen aid they don’t carry them. I even contacted other places that sell compactor parts and they can’t get it either. There isn’t even a part number for one to order one!! So make sure you know this before you order one!! No body told us that!! It says that it doesn’t come with one but it doesn’t tell you that you can’t even order one!! We had to make a temporary one until we can get one made. Other than that I love it!! Kitchen aid has the best products made!!

KitchenAid trash compactor
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This KitchenAid trash compactor replaced a 20+ year whirlpool trash compactor that we had. This one is stainless steel and it really works great.

Kitchen Aid Trash Compactor
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Love this Trash Compactor. Replaced a Kitchen Aid Compactor that broke 20 years ago. Bought the Dishwasher first and saw the TC look alike. Love both of them. Very very pricey though. Worth it though.

Love It!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.I hate taking out the trash! My handyman installed this which wasn’t a replacement and it was quite easy for him. He gutted my cabinet using a skill saw and cut 1/4 inch off on one interior side and installed an electrical outlet and the rest was plugging in and moving into place. He installed it 10 days ago and I have to had to empty it yet. Usually I have to take out garbage at least 2 times a week. It is loud, but it compacts garbage and boxes wonderfully!

Efficient but pricey
||Posted .Purchased this compactor to match appliances in new home. I thought it was expensive but chose to purchase regardless. Husband is handy and was able to install himself. The unit operates well, not terribly loud or long when cycling. I find the door is a bit wobbly in comparison to an old model I owned before but not too annoying. Looks good, works well. Glad I made the purchase. Best Buy delivered quickly, too.

Decent compactor
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Pretty much the current model for one we are replacing that is 25 years old! A few differences but pretty much the same. Decent compactor. It actually is louder than our old one but we will live with it. It is not a show stopper. I do think it is over priced.

Updated model not as good as the old version
||Posted .This compactor replaced an older Kitchenaid one. It's good, but the hidden controls make it more difficult to use. For example, when it's in compress mode, you can't open it until you run it once. With the old one, with the controls on the front, you could switch it from compress to normal and not have to run it first. In addition, the starter on the old one was on the front control panel and was easy to turn on. With the new one, you have to kick a tab at the bottom and if you don't have your shoes on, it can be difficult. As far as the actual trash compaction, that seems the same, it's just the lack of controls on the front that makes this one a little more difficult to use.

Q: Questionwhat is panel ready
Asked by trashman.
- A:Answer Panel ready means the appliance gets delivered without a front. You would then go to a cabinet maker so they can design a custom panel and pull handles to match the cabinets in your kitchen. This way at a glance you would not know there was an appliance there as it would seamlessly blend in with you cabinets

Q: QuestionWhat size of panel should I order for the front?
Asked by Mark.
- A:Answer Hi Mark, this calls for a 29 3/8" H and 15" W panel with a minimum 1/2" (13mm) thickness. Hope this helps.

Q: QuestionDoes this model use slip and grip bags? Our current one has the 4 plastic pieces that the bags fit over to keep from slipping down into u it
Asked by MrsD.
- A:Answer Hi MrsD, this unit does indeed use the Slip and Grip bags. Hope that helps!

Q: QuestionCan this unit be used as a free standing piece?
Asked by John.
- A:Answer There is no reason it couldn't. It would be rather bulky, it is not a small appliance. It is designed to fit under a cabinet, but it would still work free standing.

Q: QuestionAre these any good to compact plastic recycling? Thinking of milk jugs etc. Almost all of our trash is packaging. Our bio waste goes into the yard for composting.
Asked by Dolphins.
- A:Answer Why not? But.. only if you do same sort of packaging. It would hinder waste management from separating cans, glass and plastics if you toss them in together.

Q: QuestionWill this fit in an opening of 33 3/4” high if the wheels are taken off?
Asked by Bev.
- A:Answer This will probably fit very tightly without taking the wheels off. I measured my opening and it is right about that size for height and it fit without removing anything. It was a tight fit. Your tightest area will be the two machine screws at the top of the unit. I put this unit in to replace an old Jenn Air that tightly fit in the same space.
